"It's an impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me."
"Built for something a lot stronger than you."
Loki and Nick Fury[src]

The Helicarrier Detention Cell was a specialized holding cell situated in the detention area of the Helicarrier, built specifically for the Hulk. When S.H.I.E.L.D. captured Loki, they held him in this cell until he masterminded his escape. Loki tricked Thor into locking himself in, before ejecting the cell from the ship.

History[]

Loki's Custody[]

"The cell was just in case..."
"In case you needed to kill me."
Nick Fury and Bruce Banner[src]

The Helicarrier Detention Cell was built by S.H.I.E.L.D. for Helicarrier No. 64's detention area. It was designed in mind as a precautionary measure to contain the Hulk, and potentially dispose of him if he became a threat.

When Loki was taken captive after the Skirmish in Germany, Nick Fury had him assigned to this holding cell. He stayed in the cell as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s prisoner until his enslaved agents, led by Clint Barton, attacked the Helicarrier. Loki was able to use his illusions to trick his brother Thor into the cell and lock him inside instead. After killing Phil Coulson, Loki used the control panel to drop Thor and the cell out of the ship. Thor barely managed to rocket himself out of the cell before it crashed in the middle of a field.[1]

Capabilities[]

"It's 30,000 feet straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works? Ant, boot."
Nick Fury[src]

The detention cell was a cylindrical reinforced glass cage suspended by hydraulic rigs. The cell is sensitive enough so that if the prisoner was to attempt an escape, a trigger mechanism would be activated to open a hatch below the cell and drop both the cell and the prisoner out of the ship. The cell could also be flushed out of the Helicarrier chute manually via a control panel with a red eject button.

The inside of the cell is very spacious, and a sitting bench is provided for human-sized occupants.
