"If I only had my crown, it would be you who would kneel before me."
Hela to Xu Wenwu[src]

Hela's Crown was the helmet worn by Hela during her crusade.

Hela wore her crown during Asgard's bloody conquest of the Nine Realms. The crown remained with her after her exile, by Odin, to Hel. She attempted to escape the barren prison, only for Odin to send a legion of Valkyries to stop her from escaping. Hela overpowered the warriors, however, massacring them. To ensure she couldn't escape again, Odin linked his lifeforce to Hel, seeing to it that Hela could not escape again as long as he lived.[1]

Following Odin's death, a portal transported her to Norway, where Hela confronted her two younger brothers, Thor and Loki, while wearing the headdress. The outcome of the duel resulted in a panicked Loki calling Volstagg to open the Bifrost Bridge. Upon Loki's request, the Bifrost Bridge opened, allowing Hela to push her brothers into the abyss. As she made her way into Asgard, she killed the Warriors Three and later eliminated all the Einherjar.

Hela then resurrected her army of Berserkers and pet wolf, Fenris, and she dubbed Skurge her new Executioner. With the intention of conquering all the cosmos, Hela and Skurge began their search for Hofund, only to realize that its previous owner, Heimdall, had stolen it upon his return. As a response, she set about punishing and executing the rebellious Asgardian citizens. Ultimately, a bystander disclosed the location of Heimdall's sword. However, Hela and Skurge found the place spotless and empty.

Thor, who returned to Asgard with Valkyrie and Hulk, reengaged Hela in a duel in the palace. During the intense confrontation, Thor managed to cut down a portion of her headdress with Gungnir, only for the helmet's lost parts to slowly reappear. Despite Thor's efforts, Hela overpowered her brother. As reinforcements led by Loki and the Sakaaran Rebellion arrived from Sakaar, Hela taunted Thor that she would kill everyone of them so as to obtain the sword. As she finally prepared to kill her brother, Thor unleashed his new electrical powers at his enraged sister, and Hela was thrown off of the balcony due to the impact.

As she regained consciousness, Hela arrived on the Rainbow Bridge, where she fought Thor and Valkyrie. Despite his new powers, she still managed to subdue the two warriors and killed Skurge when she witnessed him betraying her to kill the Berserkers. As Thor reminded Hela that the realm of Asgard was hers and warned her that Surtur could defeat her, she stunningly turned away and saw the Fire Demon emerging from the destroyed palace. While the Asgardians escaped, Hela fought Surtur until his Twilight Sword obliterated her and her crown. Surtur then destroyed Asgard, incinerating whatever might have remained of the crown.[1]

"Whosoever wears this crown, should she know mercy, shall possess the power of Hela."
Odin[src]

In an alternate universe, Hela was banished to Midgard. Upon her banishment, Odin cast a spell on Hela's crown similar to Mjolnir and threw it to Midgard. The Ten Rings found the crown that had fallen from the heavens. Hela tried to retrieve the crown and failed. When Odin was gaining the upper hand during the fight for the ten rings, Hela gave mercy a chance and her crown returned to her, regaining her powers and becoming more powerful and gaining a pure white armor as opposed to her previous black armor.[3]

Another version of Hela gave her crown to Captain Carter to help her battle Strange Supreme. Carter donned the helmet, which also gave her Hela's armor, Hulk's sword and Gungnir, but she was unable to defeat Strange and both were destroyed.[4]

Design and Capabilities[]

"I stripped you of your crown. Without it, you are nothing."
Odin to Hela[src]

Similar to Gungnir, Mjølnir and Stormbreaker, Hela's helmet serves a conduit for her naturally occurring magic, allowing her to focus and control it in order to manifest her powers.
