Clinton Francis "Clint" Barton is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who was assigned to monitor Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. on the day of Loki's arrival on Earth. Barton's mind was manipulated by Loki and his Scepter, leading him to turn on S.H.I.E.L.D. and help Loki to bring about an invasion on Earth. Barton was eventually freed from the mind control by Natasha Romanoff, so he joined the Avengers in defeating Loki.
