Rescue in Bahrain[]
A powered individual appeared on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar in Bahrain who was named Eva Belyakov. Agent Hart assembled a team to learn more about the Index candidate, with Agents Melinda May and Phil Coulson brought in to oversee the mission. They wanted to bring her in for evaluation and hopefully turn her into an ally for S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future. Hart and the team met with their contact in Bahrain, Faisal Ahmed, who led them to where Belvakov was. Hart stood watch as Coulson tried talking to Belyakov. After a big commotion, a group of Bahraini men held Belyakov's daughter Katya Belyakov at gunpoint and brought one of Hart's agents, O'Brien, into a warehouse with the girl after Ahmed was shot.
Hart planned a counterattack by positioning agents at exits of a market the warehouse led into after receiving a strange message from O'Brien, disregarding Coulson and May's proposals. Hart and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team went in and were put under Katya's enthrallment, causing them to fight Melinda May because they "needed her pain." He was marched into a large room after May had killed Eva Belyakov by Katya; May shot her before the girl could murder the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, saving Hart's life and letting him snap out of the trance. He thought Melinda May a hero and dubbed her, "The Cavalry."[1]
