"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "Avengers Assassinated Universe".

"You took everything from me. I wanted you to hurt. To witness everything you've ever worked for... fought for... hoped for... die."
―Yellowjacket to "Nick Fury"[src]

Doctor Henry Jonathan "Hank" Pym is the father of Hope van Dyne and a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who operated as Ant-Man. Following the death of his daughter on a mission, Pym went rogue and assumed the Yellowjacket identity, swearing vengeance for S.H.I.E.L.D.. Pym planned to murder all of the Avengers Initiative candidates, thus destroying Nick Fury's life work. Pym was eventually defeated by an alliance between Fury and Loki.

Biography[]

This is an in-depth biography of Hank Pym/Avengers Assassinated. For an abridged overview, see Marvel Database's article on the same character.

Losing Everything[]

Demise of Hope van Dyne[]

"Agent Hope van Dyne was killed on a mission outside Odesa, Ukraine."
"Agent? She was my daughter! My little girl. She missed her mother and you exploited that! "
―"Nick Fury" and Yellowjacket[src]

Hank Pym was serving as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Ant-Man,[3] together with his wife Janet, before she sacrificed herself on a mission, leading her to be declared dead afterwards. Their daughter Hope van Dyne eventually followed her mother's steps, becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, but she was killed during the mission in Odesa. Devastated by Hope's death, Pym blamed S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury personally, for taking advantage of van Dyne missing her mother to recruit her.[2]

Killing Spree[]

Targeting Avengers Initiative[]

"You would have recruited him in a heartbeat. Sold him some malarkey about being a hero. That's what you do. What S.H.I.E.L.D. has always done. Find others to fight your battles."
"That's it? You murdered him because you could?"
―Yellowjacket and "Nick Fury"[src]

Using Hope van Dyne's old S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance, Pym accessed Nick Fury's database and found out that he was working on the Avengers Initiative, planning to bring together a team of remarkable individuals. Pym took it upon himself to disrupt the Initiative and ruin Fury's work, even if he had to kill the candidates. Having got access to the candidates' files, Pym donned the Yellowjacket Suit, powered by the Pym Particles, and went on a killing spree.

Yellowjacket kills Tony Stark

Yellowjacket's first victim was Iron Man, who was approached by Fury and Black Widow to discuss his involvement in the Initiative. When Black Widow injected Iron Man with the lithium dioxide to help him with his Palladium poisoning, Yellowjacket shrunk to microscopic size and hid inside the ampule. Yellowjacket managed to enter Iron Man's bloodstream through a syringe and disarranged his organs, killing him, as Black Widow was arrested as a suspect in Iron Man's murder.

Yellowjacket kills Clint Barton

Later, Yellowjacket arrived at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Crater Investigation Site in Puente Antiguo when it was infiltrated by Thor who wanted to retrieve Mjølnir. Yellowjacket assumed that Fury would try to recruit such an individual for the Initiative and targeted him. When Hawkeye was aiming at Thor, Yellowjacket tapped on his hand, causing Hawkeye to misfire and kill Thor with his arrow. Once Hawkeye was put in the lockup by S.H.I.E.L.D., Yellowjacket flew into his ear, causing a hemorrhage in his brain, killing him as well. S.H.I.E.L.D. was not able to detect Yellowjacket's involvement but Fury figured out that the deaths of Stark, Thor and Hawkeye were related to the Initiative.

Yellowjacket kills Bruce Banner

Yellowjacket then targeted Bruce Banner who was hiding at the Culver University until he was found by Black Widow. When they were surrounded by the United States Army troops, led by Thaddeus Ross, Yellowjacket entered Banner's body and injured him, triggering his transformation into the Hulk. As Yellowjacket made it look like he was shot by one of Ross' snipers, Hulk attacked the military, causing Ross to order to fight back. While inside Hulk's body, Yellowjacket threw his Pym Particle Discs into his heart, causing him to explode.

Pym vs Romanoff

Black Widow escaped from the place and ended up at the Manassas Public Library where she accessed the S.H.I.E.L.D. database to discover the killer's identity, before she was tracked down by Yellowjacket. As Black Widow managed to learn about the connection between the murders and van Dyne's death, Yellowjacket attacked her. She was not able to fight back due to Yellowjacket using his microscopic size, so Yellowjacket beat Black Widow to death but not before she contacted Fury and informed him about van Dyne.[2]

Duel at the Graveyard[]

Fury vs Yellowjacket

Yellowjacket is confronted by "Nick Fury"

"S.H.I.E.L.D. is people, people willing to give their lives for something greater than themselves to save the world from men like you. Agent Hope van Dyne understood that and she will never be forgotten."
"Then you honor her. Then honor her!"
Nick Fury and Yellowjacket[src]

Visiting his daughter's grave in San Francisco, Yellowjacket encountered Nick Fury there, being aggravated by his presence at her grave. Yellowjacket told Fury that he was at fault for the death of his daughter, so Yellowjacket swore to revenge and ruin everything Fury was trying to build to know how it felt for him. Pym admitted to killing the Avengers Initiative candidates, although Thor's death was more of a collateral damage. With all Avengers candidates dead, Yellowjacket then targeted Fury, however, he deflected his punch, despite him using the microscopic attack.

Yellowjacket is unable to combat his enemy

Surprised, Yellowjacket attacked Fury more, however, he was able to easily evade and deflect anything he could use against him, even his energy pulse stingers. Suddenly, Yellowjacket noticed that Fury was practically teleporting, avoiding his attacks and eventually found himself being surrounded by dozens of Fury's copies, laughing at him. Yellowjacket attempted to fly away, only to be stalled by a giant copy of Fury before he was caught in an icy trap.

Pym being taken into Asgardian custody

As Yellowjacket was defeated, it was revealed that Yellowjacket was fighting with Loki who was disguised as Fury, while the real Nick Fury organized an ambush. Loki then summoned his Einherjar to apprehend Yellowjacket, so he could be punished for killing the prince of Asgard. Fury told Yellowjacket that his daughter joined S.H.I.E.L.D. because she wanted to protect the world from people like Yellowjacket, and she was prepared to sacrifice her life for the greater good. He told Yellowjacket that van Dyne and her sacrifice will never be forgotten, and Yellowjacket told Fury to honor her before he was taken away.[2]

Personality[]

"His death was a favor. Yours will be a triumph."
―Yellowjacket to "Nick Fury"[src]

Hank Pym had lost both his wife and daughter, and as a result, he sank into utter despair and went mad. Seeing S.H.I.E.L.D. as what took his family from him, Pym sought revenge. However, knowing he couldn't take down the entire organization, he instead focused his hatred on its Director, Nick Fury. To enact his "revenge", Pym decided to kill anyone whom Fury had scouted for the Avengers Initiative, completely uncaring of their choice in the matter. In fact, he took great joy in killing innocents to make Fury hurt; something that even unnerved Loki.

Due to his insanity, Pym was able to even reason killing Thor, whom he knew was at least being monitored by S.H.I.E.L.D. due to being an impressive fighter who broke into their New Mexico site. Proof of his insane thoughts, Pym wanted to destroy Fury's life's work; rather than actually target people he cared about, to make him feel the pain he did. Though he did manage this partially by killing Fury's most trusted agents, Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton, however, due that they were part of the Avengers Initiative.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Yellowjacket Suit Capabilities: To be added
    • Size Manipulation: Using his developed technology, Pym was able to reduce himself to approximately the size of an ant. He still maintained his regular sized strength and durability while in a reduced scale as the process amplifies the amount of force he can generate and increases his density. Additionally, the process of altering size compresses force and energy, manifesting as brief shockwaves of vibration around the target, which briefly augments his force and momentum as he returns to normal size.
      • Superhuman Strength: The process of size alteration granted Pym superhuman strength, which allowed him to defeat opponents of normal human size, as well as leap vast distances and great heights.
      • Superhuman Durability: The process of size alteration granted Pym superhuman durability, enough to survive falls from great heights and other impacts that would injure or kill even normal-sized humans.
      • Superhuman Speed: To be added
    • Flight: Pym has the power of flight through highly advanced jets installed in the backward of the suit. The two top tentacle-like 'stingers' on the suit's back have exterior thrusters at the bottom of the tentacle that allows him to levitate and move forward with its propulsion.
    • Energy Blast: To be added
