Haldier is a blacksmith of Asgard who is known for talking to himself when he was, in fact, always talking to his horse.

Biography[]

Finding the Cup of Glory[]

One day, Haldier was on horseback along a mountain in Asgard when he came across an Asgardian Snake. This caused his frightened horse to leave him and run away. Haldier, glad that he didn't fall off the edge, looked up and found the thought lost Cup of Glory, which he vowed to take for himself.

Haldier left the cup in a mine and returned home, although the thought of the treasure never left his mind. He talked to himself about using it to restore honor to his family and give his son an opportunity to be a warrior, just like his father.[1]

Battle for the Cup of Glory[]

Loki challenged Haldier's son, Brunok, to compete in the Virtue Challenge. After several days, Haldier became worried for his son and went after them, where he found Brunok, along with Thor, Loki, Sif, the Warriors Three, Hilda, and Siegrold, who had the Cup of Glory with them.[1] Brunok told Haldier about the cup, sending Haldier into a frenzy as he attempted to steal it. He threw Thor off a cliff as the others engaged him and fought over the cup, attempting not to hurt Haldier since he was enchanted by the cup. The warriors tried and failed to restrain Haldier, and Loki got hold of the Cup of Glory. Haldier took the cup back as Thor returned to the battlefield and dueled Haldier. Thor used lightning to knock the cup out of Haldier's hand and took it. Due to Haldier's enchanted nature, Thor extended his forgiveness to the blacksmith.[2]
