Behind the Scenes[]
Continuity[]
This section requires expansion |
The junior novel contains some discrepancies with the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rocket is stated to be an alien resembling a raccoon, whereas Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 states that he is a raccoon modified by the High Evolutionary. The Kree are implied to no longer control large regions of the galaxy by the time of the junior novel's events, while the Nova Corps is also stated to be the law enforcement agency of a particular sector rather than the law enforcement agency of the Nova Empire. Ronan the Accuser is stated to have given himself the title of "Accuser" due to his accusing the galaxy of weakness rather than being a former memeber of the Kree Accusers and is stated to be attempting to "cure" the galaxy rather than to specifically destroy Xandar. Ronan is also stated to have been arrested by the Nova Corps in the past and held in the Kyln, where he met the Exolon Monks and began his quest to "cure" the galaxy. Korath is implied to be executed by Ronan for his failure to retrieve the Orb on Morag. Thanos is referred to as a dictator and is stated to have kidnapped Gamora and Nebula as babies rather than as young children. Ronan and Nebula also do not meet with Thanos and the Other prior to visiting the Kyln. Drax the Destroyer threatens Gamora in the Kyln alone and thus does not take a knife from Moloka Dar, with the event being stopped by both Peter Quill and Rocket rather than just Quill alone. Drax also joins the Escape from the Kyln intentionally rather than joining in the heat of the moment.
Star-Lord's Helmet is stated to not be capable of enabling its wearer to breathe in deep space. Yondu and the Yondu Ravager Clan are shown to have landed on Knowhere in order to find Quill rather than only arriving above Knowhere following Quill alerting them of his location, with Yondu and Kraglin Obfonteri participating in the Skirmish on Knowhere. The Collector is stated to own the Boot of Jemiah, with his museum being accessed through a tunnel from the club. The Collector also doesn't explain the Infinity Stones to the Guardians of the Galaxy before Carina attempts to grab the Orb. Quill uses his Mining Pod to ram inside of and take control of the weaponry of a Necrocraft and, upon being unable to reach the Milano, Gamora intends to fly her Mining Pod into a black hole to destroy the Orb before being shot down by Nebula. Therefore, this junior novel has been deemed non-canon as per our Canon Policy.
