Guadalcanal is the principal island in Guadalcanal Province of the Solomon Islands.
History[]
In 1942 and 1943, Guadalcanal was the location of bitter fighting between Japanese and Allied troops. Though the Allies were ultimately victorious, the lives of many soldiers were lost in the fight, including Patrick O'Brien, the brother of Colleen O'Brien.[1]
