Grundroth was a Frost Giant warrior and a loyal subordinate of Laufey. He was killed by Heimdall shortly before the Duel at the Rainbow Bridge.
Biography[]
Attack on Jotunheim[]
Grundroth was a member of Laufey's army who fought with Thor, Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three, as they invaded Jotunheim. However, he was defeated by a single strike from Mjølnir, which sent him flying against a frozen mountain. He then rose to fight Hogun of the Warriors Three with twin Ice Daggers.[5]
Mission at Asgard[]

He was later one of the Frost Giants that was brought to Asgard, by Loki, along with Laufey to assassinate Odin. Grundroth was assigned to guard the Bifrost Bridge and an incapacitated Heimdall, who was earlier frozen by Loki. However, Heimdall was eventually able to break free of his icy prison and decapitated Grundroth, just as he was about to strike.[5]

- Frost Giant Physiology: As a Frost Giant, Grundroth possessed all of the various superhuman attributes common among his people, including superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, healing, and was extremely long-lived, as well as the ability to manipulate ice.
- Superhuman Strength: Like all Frost Giants, Grundroth possessed great superhuman strength, battling Asgardians on equal terms.
- Superhuman Durability: Grundroth's was very resistant to damage, being able to survive a strike from Mjølnir.
- Superhuman Speed: Grundroth could move at great speed, pursuing the invading forces across Jotunheim.
- Superhuman Agility: Grundroth was agile enough to jump across the cliffs of his world.
- Superhuman Stamina: As a Frost Giant, Grundroth could fight over prolongued periods of time, even in the harsh conditions of Jotunheim.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Grundroth could react and dodge objects traveling at high speeds, but he wasn't fast enough to notice Heimdall breaking out of the ice and decapitating him.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Frost Giants, while not impervious to infuries, are able to recover from them and regenerate at a noticeable fast rate.
- Longevity: Grundroth, like all other Frost Giants, were extremely long-lived beings, he aged at a slow pace, being able to live for thousands of years.
- Ice Manipulation: As a Frost Giant, Grundroth possessed the ability to create and manipulate ice. The ice could be formed into practically anything he thought of, being able to form a wide variety of weapons and tools made of ice.
- Cold Immunity: Due to his Frost Giant physiology, Grundroth was immune to cold, being able to live on Jotunheim, a realm that was cold enough to kill any normal human being, for thousands of years.

- Combatant: Using his twin Ice Daggers, Grundroth could easily fight Thor and the Warriors Three. Laufey thought he was a good enough combatant to keep watch over Heimdall, who was frozen in ice.
