Foundations of Greek Mythology

"Ikaris? The boy who flew too close to the sun?"
"Sprite came up with that tale when we were in Athens."
Dane Whitman and Sersi[src]

The Eternals, a group of superpowered individuals created by the Celestials, were deployed to Earth to fight the Deviants, eventually residing in Athens. During this period, Sprite used her illusion powers to introduce fictionalized stories of the Eternals to the Ancient Greeks, creating tales regarding the flying Ikaris and Thena, the Eternal Goddess of War. As a result, Ikaris and Thena, as Icarus and Athena respectively, were incorporated into their historical legends and became revered as deities in Ancient Greek mythology.[1]
