The Grand Arena, also known as Sakaar Battle Arena, is a huge round arena created by the Grandmaster and located on the planet Sakaar. The arena holds the gladiatorial battles of the Contest of Champions.
History[]
When the Grandmaster became the ruler of Sakaar, he felt that his subjects would not love a ruler they perceived as a tyrant. To gain greater favor with his people, he decided to create a huge arena, in the shape of a circle, which would serve as the main place for the Contest of Champions, a gladiatorial battle event to be held in the Arena. The contest gained massive popularity with people of the planet.[1]
The Champion[]
Hulk arrived on Sakaar, having chosen to leave his old life following the Battle of Sokovia. The Grandmaster convinced the Hulk to fight in the arena, either through coercion or by appealing to the Hulk's brute nature.
Over the course of the next two years, Hulk eventually became the new champion of the contest, defeating every enemy and contender that was brought to fight against him. This place in the contest brought him fame across Sakaar and made him a celebrity among the people there.[1]
