Doctor William Barrett "Bill" Foster is a biochemist and a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. who had previously worked with Hank Pym on creating an advanced suit that can grow the wearer to extremely large sizes through Pym Particles, also giving him the codename Goliath, until disagreements between them caused Pym to end their partnership. Together with other individuals with extraordinary abilities assembled by S.H.I.E.L.D., Goliath became a founding member of the Avengers to defeat the Celestial Ego in his attempt to terraform Earth, and later agreed to aid in traveling to outer space to confront Ego himself.

Goliath is reunited with Ant-Man

Goliath was called in by S.H.I.E.L.D. along with Ant-Man, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, and Wendy Lawson to deal with an alien threat. After meeting his teammates, they traveled in the Asis to Coney Island.

Goliath captures Quill

Goliath attempts to capture Peter Quill

Goliath exited the ship and waited outside to trap Peter Quill, growing to giant form to cover the perimeter. When Quill began to attack the team, Goliath attempted to contain him, only for it to be destroyed. Quill fired at Goliath, hitting him in the shoulder, so he reverted back to normal size to escape. Seeing Lawson fall from the sky, Goliath turned back into giant form and caught her. Quill continued to attack them, so they decided to retreat to the Asis. Quill prevented them from leaving, but they were saved when Thor arrived and defeated Quill.

Goliath talks about studying Peter Quill

The team returned to the base and listened to Thor reveal that multiple worlds had been destroyed as part of Ego's Expansion, and that the only way to stop it is for a Celestial to destroy the seedling. However, Hope van Dyne freed Quill from his cell, so the team discussed how to stop the Expansion and Quill, with Goliath suggesting that they capture Quill so they can study him.

Bill Foster vs. Ego

Goliath fighting against Ego's army

Goliath noticed the seedling Thor brought starting to pulsate, which they learned was due to Ego arriving on Earth. Goliath joined Black Panther, Thor, and Peggy Carter to confront Ego in the Mojave Desert. Ego created copies of himself from the ground and the two sides began to battle. Goliath went into giant form and fought off many of the copies, but was eventually overwhelmed and swarmed. Ego was defeated when Ant-Man arrived with Quill.

Goliath tells Thor they are joining him

To celebrate their victory, the team gathered at Ant-Man's house, where Goliath shared a drink with Black Panther, Thor, and Howard Stark. When they sat down for dinner, Thor informed them that Ego was still alive and that he would need to avenge those who had fallen victim to him. Goliath wondered why Thor was going alone as they were now a team, so Thor gladly accepted their help, and they all set off to defeat Ego's true form.[3]
