"I thought your thing was a sword?"
"We've been hired to stop an inter-dimensional beast from feeding on those batteries and I'm going to stop it with a sword?"
"It's just... swords were your thing and guns were mine, but... I guess we're both doing guns now. I just didn't know that."
Star-Lord and Gamora[src]

The Godslayer is a collapsible sword that was used by the Galaxy-Class Killer and Guardian of the Galaxy, Gamora. It includes a detachable knife that connects to the sword's hilt.

History

When Gamora pursued Peter Quill on Xandar, she was interrupted by Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and used the Retractable Blade to defend herself from the pair, amputating Groot's arms when he attempted to restrain her. While imprisoned in the Kyln, the Retractable Blade was confiscated by the Nova Corps, but Gamora eventually reclaimed it after escaping from the prison with Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer.

During the Battle of Xandar, Gamora dueled Nebula using the Retractable Blade, and emerged victorious.[1]

Godslayer was used again in the Battle on Sovereign, where Gamora used it to kill the Abilisk, slicing its throat after her firearm ran out of ammunition.[2]

The Godslayer was destroyed on Knowhere by Thanos, who effortlessly broke the blade before kidnapping Gamora. However, this turned out be an illusion created by the Reality Stone. The weapon was then collected by Quill.[3]

Capabilities

The Godslayer is capable of cutting through even the most durable of metals, and uses a unique energy core located in the hilt to lower the weight of the blade, making it easier for the wielder to handle. The detachable knife can be used as a melee or throwing weapon.
