Skirmish on Xandar[]
In 2014, Gamora pursued Peter Quill on Xandar for the Orb; however, she was interrupted by Rocket and Groot, and used the Godslayer to defend herself from the pair, amputating Groot's arms when he attempted to restrain her. While imprisoned in the Kyln, Godslayer was confiscated by the Nova Corps, but Gamora eventually reclaimed it after escaping from the prison with Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer.[1]
Battle of Xandar[]
During the Battle of Xandar, Gamora fought Nebula with Godslayer and emerged victorious.[1]
Battle on Sovereign[]
Two months later, Godslayer was used again by Gamora in the fight on Sovereign, where she used it to kill the Abilisk, slicing its throat after her firearm ran out of ammunition.[2]

Capabilities[]
The Godslayer is a powerful weapon, capable of killing even an Asgardian, hence earning it its name.[5] It uses a unique energy core located in the hilt to lower the weight of the blade, making it easier for the wielder to handle. The detachable knife can be used as a melee or throwing weapon.[1] It can also be split into two swords, although this has not been demonstrated yet.[6]
Gamora has also been shown to be able to block energy blasts with the Godslayer, demonstrating the sword's great durability.
