"I thought your thing was a sword?"
"We've been hired to stop an inter-dimensional beast from feeding on those batteries and I'm going to stop it with a sword?"
Star-Lord and Gamora[src]

The Godslayer is a collapsible sword that was used by Gamora which includes a detachable knife that connects to the sword's hilt.

When Gamora pursued Peter Quill on Xandar, she was interrupted by Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and used the Godslayer to defend herself from the pair, amputating Groot's arms when he attempted to restrain her. While imprisoned in the Kyln, the blade was confiscated by the Nova Corps, but Gamora eventually reclaimed it after escaping from the prison with Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer.

During the Battle of Xandar, Gamora fought Nebula with the Godslayer and emerged victorious.[1]

Godslayer was used again in the Battle on Sovereign, where Gamora used it to kill the Abilisk, slicing its throat after her firearm ran out of ammunition.[2]

The Godslayer was then shown to be destroyed on Knowhere by Thanos, who effortlessly broke the blade before kidnapping Gamora. However, this turned out to be an illusion created by the Reality Stone. After Gamora was kidnapped by Thanos, the sword was then retrieved by Quill.[3]

Alternate Universe Versions

Brought to the Main Universe

After traveling from an alternate 2014 into the main timeline's 2023, Gamora brought the Godslayer with her, using it fight against Thanos and his army during the Battle of Earth. Following Tony Stark's sacrifice, she left the battlefield, taking the Godslayer with her.[4]

The Godslayer is capable of cutting through even the most durable of metals and uses a unique energy core located in the hilt to lower the weight of the blade, making it easier for the wielder to handle. The detachable knife can be used as a melee or throwing weapon.[1] It can also be split into two swords, although this has not been demonstrated yet.[5]

  • The Godslayer earned its name due to its capability of killing an Asgardian.[6]
