Gideon Malick is the elder son of Wilfred Malick and the brother of Nathaniel Malick, and a member of HYDRA who had secretly infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. While the Malick family attended a celebration for their launch of Project Insight, Malick had attempted to flirt with Daisy Johnson.

As the eldest son of Wilfred Malick, Malick had taken his own place within HYDRA, working undercover in S.H.I.E.L.D., like his father. Malick would ensure that nobody believed that his placement within S.H.I.E.L.D. was purely due to his family, as he insisted that he had more than earned that position, while attempting to remain in the loop about Project Insight and his father's other projects in S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA, although his father would often work alone, inside of a windowless office to ensure his privacy. Malick often looked down upon his brother, Nathaniel Malick, who had struggled to find a place in HYDRA and was more interested in his music.[1]

In 1973, Malick was invited to attend an event celebrating Project Insight's launch at The Krazy Kanoe, which was being hosted by Wilfred Malick and Rick Stoner. While he walked around the party, Malick had spotted Nathaniel Malick standing alone at the bar while eating some cake, as he then made a comment to Daisy Johnson that his brother hated events like this, and would be much happier to stay at the Malick Mansion and listen to his music alone, while Johnson commented that if Nathaniel was his brother, then she knew that he was Gideon Malick, which he smiled at.
Malick attempts to flirt with Daisy Johnson
Malick sat down opposite Johnson, offering her another drink, as he then claimed that her having heard of him was likely not a bad thing. In response, Johnson noted that she had heard that he was set to be the next big thing in S.H.I.E.L.D., to which Malick insisted that it was not only due to his father, insisting that he had earned his own spot. Johnson then questioned if Malick heard all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets from his father, with Malick then admitting that while he knew some, his father had recently been locked up in his windowless offices, but insisted that he had remained in the loop regarding S.H.I.E.L.D.

Changing the subject, Malick then suggested that they stop talking about his father and talk about themselves, suggesting that Johnson should tell him her name, although Johnson insisted that she actually had to leave. When Johnson stood up, Malick got into her path and insisted that she should stay there, suggesting that they share more secrets about themselves. However, they were interrupted by Daniel Sousa, who introduced himself as Johnson's fiancé as he took her away from Malick. As they left, Malick then locked eyes with Sousa, before telling Johnson that she was welcome for the drink.[1]

- The Krazy Kanoe: Malick attended a party at The Krazy Kanoe to celebrate the official announcement of Project Insight, attending the event with his father and brother. During the event, Malick complained about his brother's lack of interest, before he met and attempted to flirt with Daisy Johnson, who appeared to not be interested in him, as Daniel Sousa eventually stepped between Malick and Johnson, introducing himself as Johnson's fiancé.
