Gertrude "Gert" Yorkes was a member of the Runaways and fought during the final fight against Morgan le Fay. She took it upon herself to trap Morgan in a circle of salt at the cost of her life until she was impaled, bleeding to death shortly after Morgan was banished into the Dark Dimension.

Gert watched as Dale Yorkes created a centrifuge out of Chase Stein's protein shake bowl, which impressed Molly Hernandez. Dale remarked how even though he did stupid things, he worried his daughters forgot how smart he was. Hernandez and Gert told him they thought it was very cool. Dale then finished the serum to counter the effect of Corvus and injected it into Hernandez, who was worried of various side effects like sausage fingers.
Dale then approached Gert who was worried. Gert asked if it would disrupt her connection with Old Lace. Dale admitted that he did not know what would happen as they were altering her DNA. This really worried Gert even though she knew she had to do it. She called over Old Lace and talked to her, saying that they might not be connected anymore and Old Lace might go back to a wild Dinosaur. They said goodbye and Gert was injected before locking Old Lace up for safety.
Yorkes then walked over to Stein as he was the last one to be injected. However, she found him under Corvus' spell and used his Fistigons to shoot at Yorkes. However, Yorkes was saved when Molly Hernandez tackled him, allowing Stein to be injected and cured. Suddenly, Morgan le Fay arrived through an Inter-Dimensional Portal, ready to face the Runaways.
She told the Runaways that she had already won and they had two options: submit to her or suffer eternal pain. Yorkes and the others decided they could not bare anymore pain and kneeled. However, this was just a ploy as Janet Stein managed to use that time to disable the cell towers as well as all Corvus phones, diminishing le Fay's power greatly. le Fay then attacked Nico Minoru, who shielded everyone using her Staff of One.
Yorkes and Hernandez hid in the dining room until Yorkes remembered that Tina Minoru was casting a spell with salt. If she poured the salt in a circle around le Fay, then it could trap her. Yorkes grabbed a handful and ran back out to stop le Fay from killing Karolina Dean. Yorkes and Hernandez were thrown by le Fay.
Yorkes landed and got impaled by the chandellier. Yorkes struggled to get up, but started scolding le Fay as she walked around in a circle, pouring the salt. She made fun of le Fay's uniform before completing the circle. Tina then ran over and used the spell to transport le Fay back to the Dark Dimension. Yorkes was successful, but soon fell to the ground, bleeding out. Chase Stein tried to catch her, but saw the blood. Yorkes then died in his arms having saved the world.[1]

A Suicide Mission[]
A heartbroken Chase Stein struggled to cope and stayed in his room for years, trying to create a time machine. Meanwhile, the other Runaways had moved on. Nico Minoru moved away without telling anyone, going to study magic with a master. Karolina Dean was heartbroken over Minoru leaving and went to University of California, Los Angeles, finding love with Julie.
Alex Wilder created a company with his father. Molly Hernandez also had trouble with the death, but lived at the Hostel with Stein. On the three year anniversary of Yorkes' death, the Runaways were met by a future version of Chase Stein, who successfully created time travel.
Stein brought the Runaways with him as they went back in time. Stein then forced Gert Yorkes to not take the salt, taking it for himself. Stein then completed the circle, dying instead of Yorkes and deleting this future from existence.[4]
