- "All my life I've always handed down the same verdict. Guilty. The Time-Keepers deemed it so."
- ―Gamble[src]
Judge Gamble is a judge of the Time Variance Authority.
Biography[]
TVA Judge[]
Abducted and Brainwashed[]
Gamble lived in a timeline and caused a significant divergence from the Sacred Timeline. The Time Variance Authority arrested her and erased her memories of living on the timeline.[2] She became a judge and consistently deemed people guilty, believing the Time-Keepers to have deemed it necessary.[1]
Judges' Council[]
Gamble presides over the meeting
Gamble attended a Judges' Council meeting to discuss the recent order given to stop all pruning practices and met with Hunter D-90, listening to his testimony about seeing a Variant of Ravonna Renslayer on the timeline. As Mobius M. Mobius and Hunter B-15 were brought in to testify next, Gamble and the rest of the Judges' Council listened to a recording of Loki revealing the truth about the Time Variance Authority to Mobius. Gamble asked about the order to stop pruning timelines, so B-15 asked for a moment to explain. B-15 insisted that they did not have time to follow proper protocol due to the revelation, and Gamble noted that D-90's testimony verifies B-15's. B-15 started telling everyone that they had a life on the timeline, including Gamble. Dox and B-15 started to argue about their actions as an organization, but Gamble interrupted them, noting that she had always deemed people guilty on behalf of the Time-Keepers. B-15 sympathized with Gamble's struggle, noting that the TVA needed to change. Gamble agreed and issued an order to stop all pruning.
Suddenly, Loki appeared and reunited with Mobius. Loki stole X-05's Time Stick and pruned the mural in the War Room which depicted the Time-Keepers. Gamble watched in shock as an image of a man's face revealed itself from behind the mural, declaring the man to be the one who stole their lives and would be returning. Mobius led Loki out of the room as he explained that Sylvie Laufeydottir attempted to kill the man and that he did not know Sylvie's location. Gamble watched Dox ordered X-05 to find Sylvie, hoping for answers about what happened.[1]
Advising B-15[]
- "She's a general of the TVA, and she wants to protect it at all costs. That was her mission. And it can be again, if you can convince her that this new version is worth protecting, too."
"I don't think it'll change anything."
"Don't be so sure of that. Your words changed me." - ―Gamble and Hunter B-15[src]
Gamble was informed by Hunter B-15 that Dox and her captured loyalists were being contained in one of the holding rooms. B-15 confided in Gamble about her uncertainty on what needed to be done with their prisoners, leading Gamble to reflect on her past decisions of simply pruning captives. Gamble then encouraged B-15 to convince Dox and her loyalists to change their views the same way she did with her.[3]
New TVA[]
Gamble attended a meeting in the war room following the Time Variance Authority's reformation into tracking and monitoring Variants of He Who Remains.[4]
Personality[]
Judge Gamble was once a faithful believer in the noble cause of the Time Variance Authority, seeing the Time-Keepers' judgement as absolute and thus she used to declare all variants as guilty of violating the "Sacred Timeline" and sentencing them to be pruned. However, after the discovery that the Time-Keepers were fake and rumors about the truth of the TVA began to spread, she felt immense guilt over controlling others' lives and taking free will from innocent people. Due to this guilt, Gamble decided to order all pruning to stop so that the TVA's ways would change once and for all, as compensation for what she had done for over the past thousands of years and also in hopes that people living in these timelines could all regain true freedom.
