The Freedom Fighters are a guerrilla group of inhabitants in the Quantum Realm displaced by Kang the Conqueror.

Formation[]
The Freedom Fighters were originally normal inhabitants of the Quantum Realm who lived within their own tribes and shared their cultures with each other, although they were very different.[1] However, after the arrival of Kang the Conqueror following his banishment by the Council of Kangs, he was eventually able to use his vast knowledge and highly advanced technology to take over a large portion of the Quantum Realm and amass a large empire, constructing the city of Axia to serve as his seat of power. His actions resulted in the destruction of many civilizations within the Quantum Realm and many deaths, with others going into hiding. In response, many of the displaced inhabitants, such as Jentorra, gathered other like-minded individuals and formed a resistance movement in hopes of fighting against Kang and liberating their lands from him, with Janet van Dyne, a who had been trapped in the Quantum Realm and inadvertently helped Kang's rise to power, also joining.[2] They formed a warrior society and worked to make themselves more physically fit.[1]
Failed Rebellions[]
However, as time passed, the Freedom Fighters were nowhere close to their goals, with many of their rebellions being crushed by Kang. Additionally, Janet had been rescued from by Quantum Realm by her husband Hank Pym. With these failures and Janet's disappearance, some former Freedom Fighters, such as Krylar, became so desperate to survive that they chose to desert from the movement and work under Kang, with Krylar becoming the Governor of Axia.[2]
