"My dad said playing Fortnite till 4:00 a.m. was a waste of time."
Alex Wilder[src]

Fortnite is an online multiplayer video game developed by Epic Games and released in 2017.

History[]

First Release[]

Alex Wilder often played Fortnite until 4:00 a.m., where he picked up concepts and strategies in video game theory. His father believed this to be a waste of time.

During the Siege of the Hostel, Wilder devised an intricate plan to defeat AWOL and his LAPD strike team. When asked how he learned so much about fighting the gunmen, Wilder cited Fortnite as his main inspiration.[1]

The Blip[]

During the Blip, Fortnite development came to a standstill, with the game having not been updated in over five years.

Korg and Miek playing Fortnite

Thor and Korg began to play Fortnite on their PlayStation 4 in New Asgard, where they often met up in Thor's Hut for pizza and drinks. They also encountered a player named NoobMaster69, who verbally harassed the team online.[2]

When Hulk arrived in New Asgard to recruit Thor for the Time Heist, he discovered Korg and Miek playing Fortnite with NoobMaster69 and another player.[3] After Korg told Thor NoobMaster69 had called him a dickhead, Thor yelled at NoobMaster69 through Korg's headset, threatening to fly over to his house to go inside "that basement you're hiding in, rip off your arms and shove them up your butt." When NoobMaster69 started crying, Thor mocked him and called him a little weasel.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, stated that they often played Fortnite during breaks on the films' development, leading them to propose the idea of a Thanos game mode in Fortnite.[4]
  • In the real world, Fortnite continued to be updated and change its map over the years. However, the gameplay seen in Avengers: Endgame is from its first chapter in 2017, whereas in the real world, Fortnite was in its fourth chapter in October 2023. Additionally, in November 2023, Fortnite had a season themed after Chapter 1's map, called Fortnite: OG, coming just one month after the scene in Avengers: Endgame takes place.
