Fortner is shot and killed by Will Simpson
Fortner was sent by Miklos Kozlov to bring Will Simpson back to IGH, as he had left the program and stolen a batch of Combat Enhancers. Fortner and another agent soon found Simpson speaking to Trish Walker outside her apartment and tried to convince him to come quietly back with them, teasing Walker at the same time. Simpson refused to follow them and took two red pills before spinning around and shooting McManus point blank in the forehead, killing him instantly. As Fortner tried to run away, he was shot by Simpson.
The body of Fortner was dragged in Walker's apartment by Simpson;[3] later, Kozlov sent operatives to retrieve the body and clean the apartment.[4]
