The "Forerunner Steve Rogers" Universe is an alternate reality where an anomaly started to merge the 21st and 17th centuries, due to Captain America accidentally hitting the Time Stone during the Battle of Wakanda.

Captain America strikes the Time Stone while fighting Thanos

"I remember a battle. We were fighting a monster from the skies, armed with a golden glove. I went to strike with my shield and hit one of those stones instead."
Rogers Hood to Captain Carter[src]

Upon collecting all of the Infinity Stones, Thanos placed them into the Infinity Gauntlet and traveled to Wakanda, engaging himself in Battle of Wakanda. During the battle, Thanos came into conflict with Captain America, who accidentally scraped the Time Stone with one of his Wakandan Shields during their scuffle. This created a temporal anomaly, causing the 15th century and 21st century to be merged together.[1]

Universal Collapse[]

Summoning a Hero[]

What If...? Trailer (21)

Scarlet Witch summons Captain Carter

"With their world collapse in on itself, a band of heroes gathered together to save their reality. The Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, used her powers to reach into a neighboring universe for a warrior. One willing to face impossible odds to save a dying reality that's not their own. A hero like Captain Peggy Carter."
Watcher[src]

With the residents of the 21st century now existing in 1602 London, England, this universe began to collapse in on itself. As a result of this, rifts began randomly appearing in sky and sucking up some of this universe's residents. Hoping to save their universe, a group of heroes formed, consisting of the Asgardian Royal Family, Harold Hogan, Nick Fury, and the Scarlet Witch. They ultimately decided to summon a hero from another universe who could help them save their own.[1] To accomplish this, Scarlet Witch used Chaos Magic to create a Wormhole to another universe, which sucked in Peggy Carter and brought here to this one.[2]

Death of the Queen[]

Weeks later, Peggy Carter joined Prince Thor, Queen Hela, and others as they watched Prince Loki give a performance of Hamlet in the Globe Theatre. Amid the show, a rift opened above the theater. As the crowd of onlookers scattered, Loki began to be sucked into the rift, until Carter lassoed a rope around his foot and tugged him to the ground. Soon after, Hela was sucked into the same rift and while Carter tried to, she was unable to save her, causing the queen's demise.

Long Live King Thor Odinson

With the queen now dead, Thor, the older of her two brothers, was crowned king on the spot. Upset over the death of his sister, Thor's first act as king was to order the capture of Peggy Carter as she had failed to stop the appearance of the rifts. While the Einherjar attempted to arrest Carter in the theater, she was able to fight them off and escape.[1]

Chase of Captain Carter[]

The Watcher observes Peggy

"But now, after weeks of trial and error, she stands alone. A failure and an outlaw in the dying universe she was summoned to save. On the run, no way home. No place to go. Nothing."
Watcher[src]

In order to evade capture, Captain Carter ran along the rooftops of London. She briefly took cover behind a chimney and looked down. As she watched Einherjar soldiers search the street below, Carter heard the Watcher narrate the events that were transpiring. She informed him of this fact, much to his surprise. The Watcher offered to take Carter back to her home universe but Carter refused, insisting that she stay in this one and prevent its collapse.

Scarlet Witch What If

Carter then travelled to the Asgardian Royal Family's castle and listened in on a meeting that King Thor was having with some of his advisors. By doing, Carter learned that the Scarlet Witch detected a Forerunner, the first person to be transported the future who was causing this universe's collapse.

The next day, Carter sought the console of Tony Stark, who told Carter that he'd be able to create device to find the Forerunner but he'd need the Time Stone located in King Thor's Scepter to power it. Carter knew that the king wouldn't give up the stone willingly, so Stark suggested that she recruit the known thief Rogers Hood to help her steal it.

Following Stark's advice, Carter found Rogers alongside his allies the Winter Soldier and Ant-Man as they were stealing from Prince Loki's carriage. Rogers was in disbelief at the sight of Carter, as the Margret Carter of this universe had died sometime ago. Loki used this as chance to escape, leaving all of his looted belongings behind. Rogers' and his allies then took Carter back to their hideout so that she could explain the situation.

After Carter explained the situation to Rogers, he agreed to help her save this universe. Soon after, however, the Secret Treehouse was attacked by Harold Hogan and his army of Royal Yellowjackets. As Carter and Rogers, alongside his Merry Men, began to successfully fight off the Yellowjackets, they retreated and Hogan deployed the Destroyer. The Destroyer then fired several blasts of energy and destroyed the Secret Treehouse. Seeing that they were surrounded, Carter ordered Rogers to retreat a meet up with Stark while she surrendered herself to Hogan.[1]
