Gertrude "Gert" Yorkes is the daughter of Dale and Stacey Yorkes and the adoptive sister of Molly Hernandez. Upon reuniting with her childhood friends, they discovered that their parents used PRIDE to cover up ceremonial sacrifices of the Church of Gibborim. She and Hernandez also found out that Dale and Stacey genetically engineered a Deinonychus, with whom Yorkes shared a telepathic link, being able to control the dinosaur. She teamed up with her friends and formed the Runaways, to stop PRIDE. Having been framed for Destiny Gonzalez's murder, and with no other choice, they were forced to run.
However, life on the run turned out to be particularly difficult for Gert, since she was deprived of her anti-anxiety meds which usually helped her. Although she tried to find some comfort in her connection with Old Lace and her new relationship with Chase Stein, Gert ultimately decided to leave the Hostel where the Runaways had sought refuge to go to a hospital. She was signed out thanks to Janet Stein, but this episode deeply affected her relationship with Stein. Later, Gert began to feel ill once again, this time because Old Lace had actually been poisoned by the Magistrate's Wife, causing Gert to psychosomatically suffer from the same symptoms. Since they were out of options, Gert was taken to her parents by Stein, who cured Old Lace but attempted to keep Gert and Stein from leaving again. Eventually, Gert was rescued, but broke up with Stein as he chose to come home and joined PRIDE. During a confrontation between the Runaways and PRIDE, Gert was captured by Dale, who decided to take her away from both the Runaways and PRIDE.
Using this time to learn how to better control her connection with Old Lace, Gert then left on her own after they were attacked by the Magistrate's Wife. She was thus able to reunite with the Runaways, but later fell under the influence of a Corvus phone made by Morgan le Fay. Although her relationship with Stein initially remained tense after he rejoined the team, they were slowly able to work things out and rekindled their romance. Yorkes then took part in the last battle against le Fay, during which a future Stein came to her and explained that he would take her place so that she would not die when confronting the enchantress.
Gertrude Yorkes was born in 2001 to Dale Yorkes and Stacey Yorkes. She was childhood friends with Amy Minoru, Alex Wilder, Chase Stein, Karolina Dean, and Nico Minoru as they used to play together while their parents held secret meetings for the organization PRIDE.[1] Like the rest of her friends, Yorkes attended the funeral of Gene and Alice Hernandez. The Yorkes then adopted the Hernandez's daughter, Molly.[5] In sixth grade, Gert attended a party held by Alex Wilder, who gave everyone R2-D2 flashdrives.[6] While in eighth grade at Atlas Academy, Yorkes and Stein were partners in an astronomy project, much to her annoyance as Yorkes did all the work while Stein flirted with Eiffel on text messages.[7] In 2015, Amy had died, so Gert attended her funeral. However, the death caused a massive rift in her relationship with her friends and they stopped seeing each other.[1]
A Costly Discovery[]
When Gert was thirteen. She was exploring around the basement when she heard roaring. She looked further and found a hidden, high density door with a dinosaur in it. Stacey Yorkes then came downstairs and acted calm before taking a syringe and injecting Gert with a memory eraser. Gert lost her memories of this event, but also developed anxiety because of it.[8]

At school, Yorkes tried to spread the word about her in school club. She then witnessed Karolina Dean getting bullied and tried to talk, but was ignored. Yorkes walked out of the school and found Molly Hernandez who wanted to practice for her dance tryouts the next day.
Yorkes then walked into a stairwell, but was knocked into by two jocks. She scolded them as she cleaned up, but was found by Chase Stein, who politely helped her. He explained he was trying out for the school play. Oddly, he then asked if he could hug Yorkes, who obviously said no, but remarked that he got bonus points for asking for consent.[9]

Having grown feminist convictions, Yorkes proposed the creation of a group, "Undermining the Patriarchy" in the Atlas Academy, although her classmates did not pay much attention to her proposal. Once Yorkes had finished, she overheard Alex Wilder inviting Chase Stein for a reunion in the Wilder Mansion as they used to do. However, the conversation quickly got tense with the intervention of Karolina Dean who began arguing with Yorkes, and it soon appeared that the reunion would not take place.
Instead of the reunion, Yorkes approached Stein and offered to help him with studying Spanish. As they planned to meet for a coffee and work together, Yorkes prepared some rehearsal sheets for Stein in prevision of their evening. However, despite Yorkes patiently waiting for Stein at the Timely Coffee, Stein never showed up. As Yorkes grew more and more annoyed and asked Molly Hernandez to feed the pets at the Yorkes Residence, she received a picture from Wilder showing Yorkes and her former friends. Filled with nostalgia, Yorkes decided to go to the Wilder Mansion, where all the other teenagers went as well.
The group soon argued about their separation following the death of their friend Amy Minoru. Convinced by Dean that they should talk about it, the teenagers went to Geoffrey Wilder's office to find some alcohol. However, by doing so they accidentally revealed a secret passage may in the office, leading to a hidden basement.
Arriving at an underground hall, Yorkes and the others were surprised to spot their parents dressed in strange red robes and gathered around a strange box. As they realized that their parents could not hear them due to a mysterious barrier, Yorkes and the others watched as Destiny Gonzalez, a young member of the Church of Gibborim, was brought among the members of the PRIDE. Fearing that the situation was wrong, Yorkes pushed Molly Hernandez back so she could not see anything.

As the mysterious ceremony continued without Yorkes being able to tell what was happening, they soon realized that their parents were apparently killing Gonzalez in some sort of ritual. However, before they could observe further, Hernandez took a picture with her phone, alerting their parents and forcing the teenagers to flee and hide in the guesthouse. While Alex left to cut the power in the mansion to distract their parents, Yorkes and the other teenagers tried to figure out what they had seen.[1] In order to leave their parents not suspicious, the group pretended to be playing Twister in the guesthouse.
Yorkes and the teenagers then discussed about what they had witnessed. When it was suggested that their parents could be criminals, she expressed her utter disbelief that her parents could do anything wrong to anyone. Since they needed to know more, they decided to return to their parents and act as normal as they could. This proved to be quite a challenge for Yorkes, who acted as way too enthusiastic when her mother offered to take her back home.
Once at home, in her bedroom, Yorkes was approached by Hernandez who asked her whether she could stay for the night. Yorkes accepted, and Hernandez tried to tell her that there was something wrong with her, with Yorkes replying that it might be the case for the whole group. She then reluctantly agreed to sing a lullaby for Hernandez so they could go to sleep.[10]
Yorkes received a message from Alex Wilder asking the teenagers to come to the beach in order to discuss the recent events. Before leaving, she went to see Molly Hernandez in her bedroom as she searched for a hairpin she had lost. Yorkes initially dismissed it as not important, but then recalled that the hairpin had been given to Hernandez by her deceased mother. When Hernandez once again told Yorkes that she might have a problem, Yorkes hypothesized that it could be panic attacks just like Yorkes suffered from. They then went to the beach, being joined by Chase Stein right before they arrived.
The meeting began with Karolina Dean showing the group a picture of Destiny Gonzalez seemingly on a trip to London, which would have indicated that she was alive and well. However, since this was not solid enough evidence, they explored other possibilities, with Yorkes surmising that their parents could have been performing some live-action role play. Yorkes was then enthusiastic when Wilder suggested that they conducted their own investigation on PRIDE's activities, and offered Stein to be his lookout while he would search through his father's lab, after which they could rehearse for his upcoming Spanish test.
Yorkes and Stein began leaving the beach as Dean approached Stein, desiring to talk to him in private despite Yorkes attempting to rebuff her. Yorkes then went to the Stein Mansion to help Stein with his investigation, although she tended to inform him that there was no one coming too frequently. Yorkes then reviewed the equipment in the lab, noticing the X-Ray Specs she put on, although she promptly removed it when Stein figured out that she was watching him, including his genitals, with the glasses.
Yorkes then discovered that there was something hidden behind a piece of furniture, and once they removed it, they found the Dematerialization Box which had been used by PRIDE during their ritual. Fearing that Gonzalez could still be inside, Yorkes used the X-Ray Specs to inspect the box, which turned out to be empty. However, although Stein called their investigation over, Yorkes suggested that they could go and check the basement of the Yorkes Residence, in which Hernandez claimed to have heard some noise which she linked to some kind of monster.
Initially, Yorkes and Stein remained outside the house, using the X-Ray Specs to inspect it from afar, but Stein then insisted that they should go inside and make a more thorough investigation despite Yorkes' reluctance. Before going into the basement, Yorkes put on a leather apron which prevented Stein from seeing her body through the X-Ray Specs, much to his dismay as he considered this unfair. Upon finding a sealed door through which Stein was unable to see, they agreed to open it, which caused the release of a strange creature, which turned out to be an actual dinosaur.
Yorkes and Stein attempted to flee, but were confronted by the dinosaur which roared at them, causing Yorkes to have a panic attack. Yorkes did her best to calm down and breathed heavily, until Stein noticed that the dinosaur seemed to actually obey Yorkes' commands of standing down. The dinosaur then fled upon hearing a car honk outside, leaving Yorkes and Stein profoundly shocked by the whole event, with Yorkes being hugged in comfort by Stein.[5]
Yorkes later took part in a WizTalk conversation in which the teenagers shared the thin results of their investigation and discussed the recent discovery of Gonzalez's body on the beach. Yorkes was shocked when Nico Minoru suggested that PRIDE could even have murdered her sister Amy. She also expressed embarrassment when Hernandez once again tried to tell the team about her abilities, which the teenagers were still unaware of. The call was ended shortly afterwards with the decision to carry on the investigation.
In the next morning, Yorkes found her parents in a tense conversation about an animal having gone missing from the lab. Although they claimed that it was only a hedgehog, Yorkes and Hernandez obviously figured out that they were talking about the dinosaur which had escaped the night before. They then went to Atlas Academy, where Yorkes approached Stein to thank him for not having mentioned the dinosaur to the other teenagers. She then witnessed the brawl between Stein and his lacrosse teammates over what had happened involving Dean during a party. Remaining with Dean, Yorkes suggested that Stein was trying to protect her by not telling her what had happened during the party.
Later, while discussing with members of her club Undermining the Patriarchy, Yorkes was approached by Dean, who suggested going to the Dean Mansion to find some evidence to explain their parents' behavior and prove their innocence. Yorkes offered Wilder to join them, but he refused, leaving only the two girls to find out whether the teenagers had only witnessed a Church of Gibborim ceremony. During their search, Yorkes and Dean found an encrypted file on Leslie Dean's laptop and decided to give it to Wilder for him to decrypt.
Yorkes left the Dean Mansion as Stein had arrived to discuss with Dean in private. After giving the file to Wilder, she returned to her home, only to find Hernandez nearly engaging in a fight with the escaped dinosaur, which had returned home as well. Yorkes arrived in time to order the dinosaur to stand down, thus confirming that the creature obeyed her. As their parents arrived and were surprised by the dinosaur's return, Yorkes asked for an explanation regarding its very existence. Before she could have it, however, her parents were distracted by Tina Minoru's visit. Still, Yorkes was delighted to learn that the dinosaur was a female.[6]
Yorkes was informed by Nico Minoru and Karolina Dean that Alex Wilder had been abducted by unidentified kidnappers and rushed to the Timely Coffee with Molly Hernandez to join her teammates. Although she agreed that they had to rescue Wilder, Yorkes insisted that this was a dangerous situation and that they had no weapon safe for the Staff of One brought by Minoru. She suggested waiting for Chase Stein to see her messages regarding Wilder's abduction, but ultimately agreed to get into Dean's and kept attempting to contact Stein.
Despite Dean's dangerous driving, Yorkes was eventually able to get Stein on the phone and updated him, sending him GPS coordinates for him to join. In the meantime, Yorkes and the group managed to find Wilder, but only to see him held at gunpoint by Darius Davis, who took him away once again. Yorkes insisted that one of them could get killed if they kept chasing Davis, but the group proceeded all the same. Yorkes then witnessed the teenagers' superhuman abilities put to good use to stop Davis: Hernandez's superhuman strength, Dean's light beams, Stein's Fistigons and Minoru blocking Davis' bullets with the Staff of One.
Once Davis fled, Yorkes joined the other teenagers at the Timely Coffee, where Wilder asked them to help him to save Andre Compton from PRIDE, as he feared they would sacrifice him. Yorkes tried to talk him out of it, calling the night crazy enough, which got even weirder when Hernandez revealed Yorkes' connection with a dinosaur. In the end, however, Yorkes agreed to join the group to the Wilder Mansion to save Compton, but they failed as PRIDE had apparently decided to carry out the ritual somewhere else.
The group's visit in the Wilder Mansion was not in vain, however, since they found a camera in the sacrifice room and figured out that its data were stored in Wizard servers, meaning that they had to hack into the company. Following this discovery, Yorkes and Hernandez returned Yorkes Residence and paid the dinosaur a visit, staying with it in its sealed room and discussing their parents' motives, and Yorkes had to accept that her parents might be evil people.[11]
Yorkes and Molly Hernandez went to the Timely Coffee to discuss the Runaways' plan to steal the video file they were looking for from Wizard servers. Yorkes told the teenagers that they should arrive in Wizard Headquarters together, which was accepted, and all the teenagers confirmed that they were willing to have their parents arrested. Yorkes and Hernandez later went to the Dean Mansion to prepare for the upcoming PRIDE gala with Karolina Dean and Nico Minoru. Upon arriving, Yorkes sensed that there was something going on between Dean and Minoru, but remained silent about it.
During the drive to Wizard Headquarters, Yorkes expressed annoyance and jealousy due to Chase Stein acting too familiar to her taste with Dean. Once they arrived, she and the group saw PRIDE being acclaimed by the audience, and commented that the gala would be the last time their parents would be able to have fun before being sent to prison.
Yorkes then regrouped with the other Runaways to prepare for their mission, but before they proceeded, she asked Dean for a word in private. Yorkes then told Dean that she would support a relationship between Dean and Minoru, but she was rebuffed by Dean, who replied that Yorkes only said so because she wanted to be with Stein. Despite Yorkes denying that she was attracted to Stein, Dean saw through it and told her that she should be more honest about who she wanted to be with, just like Yorkes advised Dean earlier.
Yorkes then went with Alex Wilder and Minoru in order to infiltrate into the server room. Yorkes was sent to distract security guard Earl, engaging in a conversation with him about Franz Kafka, which enabled Wilder and Minoru to access the elevator without Earl noticing. However, Earl eventually realized that someone might have slipped through his watch. In order to keep him distracted, Yorkes began playing with a Star Wars arcade game with had been offered to Tina Minoru by her husband.
As they were playing together, Yorkes and Earl were approached by Kincaid, Tina's bodyguard, who ordered them to step aside from the arcade game. However, Yorkes was eventually able to convince him to play as well, thus keeping the security's attention away from what happened in the upper floors of the building. Nevertheless, they briefly stopped playing upon noticing Tina's approaching and taking the elevator, although she did not speak a word to them. Fearing that Tina might her teammates, Yorkes texted them to warn them.
Yorkes eventually saw Wilder and Minoru safely leaving the elevator, meaning that the mission was accomplished. She managed to step away from Earl and Kincaid, who had become flirtatious toward her. She joined Hernandez and asked her whether she knew where Stein was. However, she was told by Hernandez that she had seen him kissing Dean, leaving Yorkes deeply saddened.[12]
Sister Gone[]
"Gert, there are things going on you can't understand." "Then explain it to me. You do realize this is her worst nightmare!"
In the next day, at Atlas Academy, Yorkes approached Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Karolina Dean and Chase Stein, with her attitude clearly signalling a form of jealousy since she thought Dean and Stein were dating. However, during the conversation, Molly Hernandez dropped the double-helix model she had made for the school open house and angrily reacted, prompting Yorkes to ask her whether she was all right. This caused Hernandez to reveal to Yorkes and the group that she had inadvertently told Wilder's mother that she knew about the secret rituals.
Shocked by this reveal, Yorkes regretted that Hernandez had not been able to lie about it, but it only caused Hernandez to get angry and leave the group. The open house then began, and while Tezuka delivered a speech, Yorkes noticed that her father behaved strangely, grunting and complaining about the light, unaware that he was actually on withdrawal from Jonah's Serum. During the open house, Yorkes approached Hernandez, who had tried to join the school's dance squad only to be given the most menial tasks. As Yorkes insisted that her adoptive sister could show more self-respect, Hernandez pointed out that Yorkes had apparently lost leadership of her own club, Undermining the Patriarchy.
Yorkes then joined the rest of the group as they had figured out that her parents and the Wilders were probably talking about Hernandez knowing about the sacrifices. They also discussed the decryption of the video file stolen from Wizard, and Yorkes stated that their parents had to be put behind bars. Yorkes then lamented that they would then remain with only Frank Dean as an adult figure.
Back to the Yorkes Residence, Yorkes was astonished upon discovering that her parents were planning on sending Hernandez away to Montebello. She stated that they were only causing her adoptive sister's worst nightmare to become true, and then remarked that the tension could cause Hernandez to manifest her powers. She thus took Hernandez away from her room and the two sisters had an emotional conversation in which Yorkes convinced Hernandez to leave for her own safety, assuring her that they would remain sisters forever.[4]
Yorkes later figured out that something did not feel right as her parents were not returning from Montebello. Refusing to remain alone, she went down into the residence's basement and released the dinosaur from her room, bringing her into her own bedroom. Yorkes was then called by Dean, who informed her that Stein apparently needed help. Yorkes seized this opportunity to tell Dean that Hernandez was gone, and then asked Dean why she had bothered calling her in the first place. However, she figured out that Dean did not want to go alone to the Stein Mansion, because of Stein's unrequited feelings towards her, since Dean was infatuated with Minoru.
Yorkes agreed to go and pick up Dean before going to the Stein Mansion. As she hung up, Yorkes was delighted to see that Stein had actually tried to call her before Dean. The two girls, along with the dinosaur, then drove to the Stein Mansion. As they arrived in front of the house, another man in a car arrived, and Dean identified him as someone she had met at the PRIDE gala, apparently a friend of her mother. They then left the car and silently broke into the Stein Mansion, with Yorkes instructing the dinosaur to be as quiet as possible.
Yorkes and the dinosaur remained in Stein's bedroom until Stein returned from the mansion's hall after meeting Dean. Yorkes assured him that having the dinosaur around was of no danger. The teenagers then left the Stein Mansion for the Timely Coffee, where Wilder and Minoru awaited them with the decrypted PRIDE file. This led to an argument among the group as Stein claimed that they could not release the evidence out of fear for his father's life. Yorkes was then left helpless and unable to stop the ensuing brawl between Wilder and Stein, which caused the laptop to be destroyed with all the evidence against PRIDE on it.[7]
In the next day, at Atlas Academy, Yorkes, along with Alex Wilder and Karolina Dean, watched as Chase Stein was being comforted by his lacrosse teammates while Wilder resented him for the events of the night before. Yorkes once again acted jealous towards Dean by claiming that Dean seemingly defended Stein for his actions only because they had shared a kiss during the PRIDE gala. Once Stein joined them, Yorkes remained mostly silent during the ensuing argument, but voiced her opposition to disband the group of friends. As she remarked that they had not given themselves a nickname, Wilder suggested the name Runaways, which Yorkes and the others deemed too dark.
Yorkes and the group then followed Wilder as he walked away. They walked by Eiffel, who was selling tickets for the upcoming school dance. Upon witnessing Eiffel trying to seduce Stein and insulting Dean, Yorkes grew annoyed by her schoolmate and angrily stated that they would all go to the dance together, insulting Eiffel in the process.

A couple of surprises then awaited Yorkes and the group as Molly Hernandez had managed to return to Los Angeles with a VHS tape left to her by her biologicalparents before they died. Yorkes and the group watched the message, and thus learned that PRIDE's actions could cause cataclysmic earthquakes in California. Yorkes comforted her adoptive sister after the reveal. They then discussed their next move and decided to infiltrate the PRIDE Construction Site to stop their parents' plan. Yorkes suggested that this meant they would not attend the dance, but Wilder actually decided to use the dance as a pretext to gather.
Therefore, as the night has arrived, Yorkes arrived for the dance and was joined by Hernandez, who noticed that Yorkes had brought her dinosaur along. Yorkes decided to go inside the building and look for Stein, which prompted Hernandez to remark on how Yorkes had put on a new dress and jewelry to draw his attention, despite Yorkes trying to deny it. Yorkes then found Stein and they began discussing about their differences and how Yorkes thought that no one, especially Stein, ever found her remarkable or attractive. As they subtly confessed their attraction to each other, they decided to share a dance before going into mission.
Going into a separate room which was to be used for a wedding celebration, Yorkes and Stein began slowly dancing. When told by Stein that he had always seen her, Yorkes admitted that she had known it. They then shared a kiss which quickly turned into passionate sex. They then left the room and stumbled on Dean and Nico Minoru, and quickly deduced that the two girls had just shared a kiss as well. The four of them then joined Wilder and Hernandez outside to reach the PRIDE Construction Site.
Once they arrived, Yorkes was instructed to leave the dinosaur in the car for the time being. Having successfully entered the site, the Runaways decided to split up and Yorkes was paired with Stein in an attempt to stop the Nemo Industrial Drilling Machine. While Stein looked for a way to access the commands, Yorkes made a snarky comment about what had happened earlier between them. As Stein insisted that they had more pressing issues to be concerned with but that he recognized they had to discuss such things, Yorkes called it unimportant, stating that they were only hormones-overrun teenagers and that it was a one-night stand, leaving Stein visibly puzzled and disappointed.
As Stein was able to destroy the drill's commands with the Fistigons, Yorkes and Stein joined the rest of the group with Minoru trying to fill the hole with sand with the Staff of One. However, they were stopped in their endeavors by their parents' arrival. The Runaways thus confronted PRIDE about their criminal actions, and when Stacey Yorkes insisted that both the Runaways and PRIDE belonged to the same family, Yorkes rejected that and claimed that the Runaways were a family of their own and prepared to fight PRIDE.[13]
During the ensuing confrontation, Yorkes was soon joined by her dinosaur, but the animal was shot with a tranquilizer by her father, causing Yorkes to rush and look after her pet companion. Yorkes and the rest of the group then had to face the powerful Jonah, and they reluctantly accepted to flee to leave only Dean behind as she was the only one able to compete with his powers. Yorkes and her friends hid elsewhere on the construction site, waiting for the fight between Jonah and Dean to be over. When things settled down, Yorkes surmised that Dean might have won, but as it turned out, they were forced to flee to escape from PRIDE without her.[2]
As the sun rose in the next morning, Yorkes and the rest of the Runaways wandered in the streets of Los Angeles, unsure about where to go or what to do. They decided to take shelter in the woods to hide from PRIDE and the LAPD before discussing their next move. As Nico Minoru insisted that they could not leave Karolina Dean behind, Yorkes joined the rest of her teammates and agreed to take part into a rescue mission. As the others prepared for the rescue, Yorkes went to buy some food for her dinosaur as she feared what could happen if the animal was left unfed for too long.
Before returning to the Church of Gibborim Executive Office where Dean was supposedly detained, Yorkes was asked to part ways with her dinosaur, as they would draw too much attention if the Runaways were seen with the animal. Yorkes tearfully agreed and shared an emotional goodbye with her dinosaur, who she decided to call Old Lace thanks to a piece of newspaper ads formerly brought back by Alex Wilder. Yorkes then gave Old Lace instructions on how to survive in the wild and promised that she would return for her one day.
Now disguised with a green wig to replace her purple hair, Yorkes joined her teammates at the Timely Coffee to meet with Vaughn Kaye, a young member of the Church of Gibborim who the Runaways wanted to enlist in their mission. However, Kaye refused to hear them out, leaving the Runaways to work on their own to release Dean. During the mission, Yorkes and Nico Minoru worked as lookouts while Chase Stein and Molly Hernandez infiltrated the place and Wilder looked for a vehicle to escape. While they waited, Yorkes expressed her anxiety about how the Runaways would survive next. When Minoru suggested that it would be an opportunity for Yorkes to expand her relationship with Stein, Yorkes was surprised to learn that Stein actually seriously considered a relationship with her.
The rescue of Dean turned out to be a success and the Runaways were able to escape and return into the woods. During the night, Yorkes slept next to Stein, and they held hands while sleeping. In the next morning, as the group made their way to the Los Angeles Bus Depot, Yorkes initially remained outside the building to look out and find some food. However, upon hearing strange noises coming from a dumpster, she was thrilled to realize that Old Lace had followed her all this way. Yorkes rushed into the depot to inform her friends of this unexpected reunion, but then her attention was caught by a WHiH World News report claiming that the Runaways were wanted for the death of Destiny Gonzalez, forcing the Runaways to flee on foot rather than by bus.[2]
Twenty-four hours later, the Runaways ran into trouble when Mike on a Bike stole the Fistigons and Alex Wilder's money. They all chased Mike, only to fail as they were too slow. Yorkes was especially slow as she had to push Old Lace in a shopping cart. They regrouped and noticed that the shopping cart's wheel was busted, forcing Molly Hernandez to pick it up herself.
Yorkes at the food shelter
They went to a homeless shelter for food only to figure out that it was paid for by PRIDE. The Runaways argued about if they should eat it and decided to as they were very hungry. On a television, they saw that Hernandez's distant relative, Graciela Aguirre, was on the news talking bad about PRIDE. They decided to go help Aguirre as she was likely a target. Chase Stein and Karolina Dean were able to steal a car by disguising themselves as a rich couple. Yorkes remarked at how it showed pretty white privilege. They then drove off as Wilder went by himself to get more money.
The Runaways arrived at Graciela Aguirre's Residence. Hernandez knocked on the door to find no answer. She broke it open with her strength only to find Aguirre dead on the floor. Nico Minoru found a serum under the couch, confirming that Aguirre was killed by PRIDE. Yorkes felt for her sister, but let her be. They were forced to run away as they heard the police coming.
They returned to a homeless area where Wilder told them to rendevous. Yorkes talked about how she needed to stay calm without her anxiety medication because if she did not, then Old Lace would go crazy. Minoru set up a Wiccan funeral for Aguirre as many people around paid their respects to a woman they did not know. Hernandez appreciated this. The group finally reconvened with Wilder, who bought tents.
The group was woken up by the sound of Fistigons firing. They ran towards the sound to find Mike on a Bike struggling to control them. Although he was scared, he thought they were cool, and he drove off. The kids stole some bikes and chased him. They finally stopped him when Old Lace attacked, pinning Mike to the ground. Yorkes told Lace to get off as Mike could injure him with the Fistigons. Stein obtained the Fistigons as Dean fell through a glass window in the ground. They looked down to find a hidden building. The group explored the undergorund Hostel and checked the stairs to make sure they were safe. The group decided to make it their home.[14]
Yorkes and the rest of the Runaways woke up to a massive earthquake. They ran for protection and Yorkes told Molly Hernandez to get under a table with her. However, a pillar collapsed. Hernandez held it up, saving Yorkes while the earthquake finished. They then realized that Karolina Dean was gone and soon found her. She claimed to have stepped out because she could not sleep.
While Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Dean, and Hernandez were out, Yorkes and Stein went looking around. Yorkes was approached by an excited Stein, who said he found a Rolls-Royce while fixing the electricity. Yorkes was not very excited as she was nervous about Stein and her relationship. Stein realized this and talked to her as they sat down. He said that he wanted to start a relationship with her. The two kissed before working on the electricity together.
Yorkes helps with the fuse box
Outside, Stein claimed to have fixed the fuse box. However, when he turned it on, it caused a black out. Soon, electricity workers arrived to fix the fuse box. Yorkes ran into the Hostel as the men arrived. They walked in and realized that people had been there, wanting to call the disturbance in. Yorkes called for Old Lace and told her to growl, which scared away the men.
Stein makes a smoothie
She returned to find that Stein fixed the electricity. They kissed and made smoothies. Stein claimed the smoothies were good, but Yorkes said she would not drink the "swamp water." Stein said fixing the pipes would be their next project. When everyone returned, Minoru said they needed to practice using their powers.[15]
Internal Problems[]
Yorkes and Chase Stein stayed up most of the night talking. In the morning, Yorkes was woken up by Nico Minoru who wanted to train. Yorkes informed her that teenagers need eight hours of sleep. She was forced to walk downstairs where she watched as they practiced their powers. However, Molly Hernandez fell asleep, which confused Yorkes. She then went to control Old Lace, but felt a sharp pain in her head as a result of the lack of her medication.
When Stein tried to help her, she brushed him off and walked away. Later, the group talked about how there was no leader and they were not a team. Karolina Dean suggested that they were not a team, but a family. Yorkes lashed out at her saying she did not care for her "Gibb-jib." Stein then stood up saying they did not need to make fun of religion. Yorkes got mad at him and left.
They then got a call that Alex Wilder was kidnapped by his parents. They went to the airport and freed him. As they got away, Minoru's spell did not work the hot wire the car. Yorkes suggested that Minoru cannot duplicate a spell. Minoru then worded it differently and the spell worked. They then went home where they found out that Darius Davis was killed and framed for the murder of Destiny Gonzalez, meaning the Runaways were cleared. Yorkes then found Hernandez walking home all dirty. Yorkes demanded to know what she had been doing and found out she was a vigilante, angering Yorkes. Suddenly, a man walked in having followed Hernandez home. He introduced himself as Topher.[16]
Yorkes woke Stein up the next day, having anxiety problems. She woke him up by chewing on her fingernails. They got up and went to see Topher, who was sleeping with Old Lace. However, he was gone. Yorkes alerted the team and they found Topher bonding with Hernandez. They did not trust Topher, but allowed him to come with them to steal a computer from the school so that Wilder could set something up to kill Jonah.
At the school, Yorkes broke in and went to the nurse's office only to be scared by Nurse Wilson. Yorkes asked for her anxiety medication, but Wilson was very suspicious as she usually got calls when students returned to school. Instead, she called the tip hotline, sending the kids parents to the school. Yorkes got everyone, but found Stein in the bathroom with Eiffel getting a key, making her suspicious.
The group got out of the school and found that Topher got the computer. They went back to the Hostel and congratulated Topher on his good work.[17] However, they still felt he was keeping a secret. He finally explained his powers and how he found a Gibborim Rock in a terrarium. Later, Topher talked to Yorkes about his relationship with Hernandez. He then told Yorkes that the sister of his sister, was his sister. When Topher left, Yorkes returned to brushing her teeth in a broken mirror.[18]
Topher's Lies[]
Later, the group found that Topher had left with the map to the dig site. They went to the site and found Topher making a getaway in a stolen car. Although Yorkes was driving, she did not want to get into a car chase. However, she was forced to and chased him down the street, breaking many laws. They arrived at a house and Yorkes refused to go in and wanted to stay in the car.
Yorkes then watched as Molly Hernandez was thrown out of the house by Topher. Hernandez and Topher fought until Nico Minoru blasted him. He responded by taking a dumpster and throwing it. However, Chase Stein blasted it, accidentally deflecting it towards Yorkes. Topher saw this and pushed Yorkes and the car out of the way, saving her, but taking the brunt of the dumpster. He laid there injured as the kids ran to avoid the cops.
Back at the Hostel, Hernandez argued with Minoru. Hernandez claimed that Minoru had escalated the situation and Topher could be saved. Minoru said that she only cared about them and not others. Hernandez said that Minoru sounded like her mother. Later, Yorkes talked to Hernandez, who asked if Minoru was mad. Yorkes then went to the hospital to get a checkup for her anxiety. The doctor said he was contacting her parents and Yorkes was okay with that.[18]
Argument with Chase[]
"If I'd called Dale and Stacey... Yeah, then you would've had to have a heartbreaking conversation with your parents instead of forcing me into one with mine. I needed my meds, Chase. Yeah, and I would've helped you get them, but you cut me out of the plan. I never even thought of that."
In order to not alert her parents, Yorkes instead put her name down as Chase Stein so that Janet Stein would come to sign off on her medication. Janet agreed and came to sign them off. In the hospital, Yorkes communicated to Old Lace, telling her to take care of everyone, especially Molly Hernandez.
When Chase came to drive her home, she forced Chase into a conversation with his mother. This angered Chase, who talked with Yorkes on the way home. He explained that he was mad that she only forced him into a conversation with his mother because she did not want one with hers. Yorkes blamed it on needing her medications, but Chase said he would have helped her get them. However, she left him out of the plan.
With the other Runaways, they talked about how to stop Jonah. However, there was obvious bad blood between Stein and Yorkes leading to Hernandez asking if they broke up. Yorkes immediately said no, but Stein said he was moving out of their room. Yorkes pretended to change her mind and said she thought that was for the best. Yorkes then left the room. Yorkes and the Runaways then went to the Church of Gibborim to break in. They found an unconscious Victor Stein in a tube as well as Jonah in a Dematerialization Box and Geoffrey Wilder in another. The group forced Stein to leave his father as there was no time. Yorkes talked to Stein about this, who was just sad that he had to say goodbye to both parents that day.[3]
Stopping Jonah[]
The Runaways went to the dig site in hopes of stopping Jonah. As all of the Runaways did their part, Yorkes offered to stay on the roof for look out. A little while later, she saw Jonah's car pull in and texted the group the news, causing Alex Wilder to have to hide. However, the others at the bottom of the hole did not get the message. Jonah then squared off against the Runaways and PRIDE parents. Following a long battle, Nico Minoru was able to stab Jonah in the back with her Staff of One seemingly killing him. Yorkes and Hernandez were then met by their parents, who pleaded for them to come back. However, the girls refused. Minoru then put all of the parents to sleep as the Runaways left.[19]
Day Off[]
The Runaways decided to take a day off as Karolina Dean still needed to get over the death of Jonah. Yorkes used this to try to think of her future. She filled out an application and planned on mailing it. They went to Nana B's house and met with Alex Wilder and Livvie, who was in trouble because the authorities wanted to keep Darius Davis' murder under wraps. They decided to break into Gordon Hotel and retrieve tapes of the murder, proving that Geoffrey Wilder did it.
They went to the hotel and broke in, getting a room. As Wilder got the tapes, Yorkes and Chase Stein tried to be so awkward that the employee would leave them alone. They pretended to be a married couple that wanted a divorce. They fake argued a lot, but it eventually turned into a real argument about what had happened in the last couple of days with their relationship. Stein was also mad that Yorkes tried to think of the future without talking about him, so he destroyed her application. When the employee finally left, they joined Wilder and found out it was not Geoffrey, but Catherine Wilder who murdered Davis. They were then met by Nico Minoru and Molly Hernandez, who explained that they got caught. As they ran out, Hernandez was captured.[20]
Getting Sick[]
With the help of Karolina Dean, the Runaways went to Molly Hernandez's location and broke her free. As they walked in, they found Hernandez lifting Flores up. They left with Hernandez, but had to throw away their phones on the way home as they realized they were being tracked.
The next morning, Yorkes tried to feed Old Lace, who rejected the food. Yorkes then tried to eat the leaves herself, in hopes that Old Lace would follow. She was then approached by Chase Stein. The two talk about their differences and make up, with Yorkes realizing what her faults were. Alex Wilder then came up with the idea of eating at Simply Blossom. As they got there, so did AWOL, making them realize that Wilder set it all up without telling them. Wilder tried to strike a deal, but AWOL threatened everyone, forcing them onto their knees. Nico Minoru used her Staff of One to freeze AWOL so that they could go.
Later, Old Lace got worse as she was not listening to Yorkes anymore. Livvie then arrived, telling the Runaways that Wilder had struck a deal with AWOL. The Runaways got mad at Wilder, who called them hypocrites. Suddenly, Yorkes grew very sick. Her and Old Lace collapse, leading to her passing out.[21]
Yorkes was in and out of consciousness, complaining about being cold. However, she had no fever. Eventually, Stein brought her to Dale and Stacey Yorkes' house. Although Gert was barely conscious, she was healed when Dale injected Old Lace with a serum, effectively healing Gert. Later, she was recovering and thanked Stein, asking how they were going to escape. Stein told her to focus on getting better.[22]
Molly's Birthday[]
The next day, Yorkes talked with her parents. Chase Stein then drank some orange juice, but Gert yelled at him not to. Stein then collapsed as Dale Yorkes drugged him. Gert was then forced into a cage. Stein finally returned unconscious. When he awoke, he explained that they gave him truth serum, but he did not give any information aside from their love life. Soon, the Runaways arrived and broke them out. However, Gert was forced to leave Old Lace.
At the Hostel, the other Runaways realized that it was Molly Hernandez's birthday the day before. Yorkes, Nico Minoru, and Karolina Dean went to the city to find a dress with Hernandez. They all found their own dresses and had fun. Back at the Hostel, they danced and celebrated as Stein gave a speech to Hernandez and led the dance.
Later, Yorkes met with Stein, happy about his speech. She asked if he wanted to sleep in her bed as it was cold. However, she saw him packing up. Stein explained that he was leaving. She angrily called him a coward and watched as Hernandez yelled at him, saying this was the one day without anything bad. Stein explained that he was a boy when he got to the Hostel, but now he returned. He called them all good before leaving.[23]
Worrying About Old Lace[]
Yorkes was present when Karolina Dean announced that her mother had been taken by the Church of Gibborim. Dean wanted to get her mother, but Alex Wilder refused. Later, Yorkes found Wilder with a gun. She cautioned him against the dangers of it. Suddenly, her stomach growled, then she burped. However, the burp tasted like Dale Yorkes' mean. She realized that Old Lace was being fed and was okay. Karolina, Nico Minoru, and Molly Hernandez then returned, having saved Leslie. Wilder was mad that they went behind his back.[24]
Kidnapped by Her Parents[]
Splitting Up[]
Yorkes and the rest of the Runaways watched as Alex Wilder got a call from Chase Stein asking them to meet. The Runaways flipped Stein off through the phone. However, they agreed to meet. In the forest, Stein explained that the parents were coming after them with drones. If they would come with him, then they could all run PRIDE together. Yorkes did not want to run a shady organization, but Stein explained that the parents would step down, leaving them to run it how they want. Yorkes still disagreed, so Stein told them if they did not come willingly, the parents will erase their minds so that they never met. Yorkes was the first to say it was a risk she would take.
When Stein left, the drones attacked. Yorkes and Molly Hernandez stayed behind a tree, dodging the darts. They were then forced to split up. Yorkes and Hernandez ran through the street together and into a local market. Hernandez threw a man's scooter at the drones, getting the man mad. Yorkes then recognized him as the guard from the PRIDE gala, Earl. They were soon followed by Dale and Stacey Yorkes, forcing her to leave Earl. Hernandez told Gert to split off of her. The two split up with Stacey following Gert. Stacey pleaded for Gert to hear her out, but Gert through a hat hanger at her and ran.
Gert was soon found by Stacey, but quickly noticed that Stacey did not have her glasses on anymore. She knew something was off and pointed out how she would have no time to get eye surgery. Stacey proceeded to smash Gert on the back of the head, knocking her out. Gert woke up with her father and Old Lace. The family, minus Stacey and Hernandez, were on the road getting out of the city.[25]
Training Old Lace[]
Dale Yorkes explained that Stacey Yorkes was acting weird recently, so they were leaving until it blew over. However, Gert was very mad at her father. At a cabin, Dale tied up Gert, who scolded him. Dale revealed that they were at the cabin where she was conceived and coincidentally, Old Lace was created. The two talked about their differences until Dale decided to teach Gert how to control Old Lace better.
Dale brought Gert outside and taught her how to lock onto Old Lace. Gert then saw thought Old Lace's eyes. She told Old Lace to run, and she complied. Gert then controlled Old Lace through the woods until she lost control and Old Lace slammed into a tree, making Gert get knocked unconscious.[26]
Fighting Her Mom[]
Gert set up everything to leave the cabin, which Dale Yorkes was okay with. Old Lace was locked up in the car as Gert packed up. Suddenly, Stacey Yorkes arroved, explaining that she figured they would be there. Stacey explained that she was taken as a host by Magistrate's Wife and was in and out of consciousness. She warned them before suddenly losing control.
The Wife emerged and started firing at the two Yorkeses. Dale went to get the tranq guns, but Gert had taken them, thinking Dale would use it on her. She got out the guns and prepared to shoot, but it was out of ammo. Dale explained that he took the ammo in fear that she would use the gun on him. Dale got the ammo and shot the tranq at the Wife, but she was unphased and continued to fight. Gert then called on Lace, who knocked the Wife over. Dale told Gert to have Lace bite her, but Gert instead had Lace headbutt the Wife to knock her out.
Gert told Dale to run before she woke up. She then took the car and drove to the Stein Mansion to help the Runaways. She arrived at the mansion and walked in to see Xavin, Molly Hernandez, and Nico Minoru fighting Magistrate. Xavin then incapacitated Magistrate with Inhibitor Pods. Chase Stein was released from the Healing Algorithm and he went to hug Yorkes, who ignored him before telling Lace to roar at him. Yorkes walked to the car and locked to door so Stein could not get in as she was still mad at him. At the Hostel, the Runaways decided if Stein should be let back in to the group. Hernandez argued that he should, but they ultimately decided to keep him for one night. Minoru then revealed that she believed the Magistrate's Son was inside of her.[27]
Search for the Son[]
The Runaways continued to argue about who it could be, but ultimately decided to wait until morning. Yorkes visited Chase Stein in his room. Although she barely admitted it, she was worried about Stein being alone in a mansion that could have an alien in it. The next morning, the group decided to sneak into the Minoru Mansion to get Inhibitor Pods. The group did so, without Alex Wilder. However, Yorkes recommended that they do it with everyone at the Hostel.
On the way home, Xavin kept talking about killing the alien, so Yorkes told Stein to pull over. They then walked to a public park for the test so that Xavin would not kill anybody in public. They did the test and Yorkes felt nothing while she held the pods, meaning she was not the alien. Nobody felt anything, meaning that the alien was either Wilder or Leslie Dean. They rushed home to find them both gone. Stein checked the cameras and found that Wilder was the alien and took Dean away.[28]
Defeating the Magistrates[]
As the Runaways tried to understand the scary events that had transpired, Yorkes found Chase Stein in another room, taking apart the Inhibitor Pods. Yorkes got mad at him until she realized he was just seeing how they worked so that he could reverse engineer them. She decided to help him to make weapons that could kill the Magistrates. Karolina Dean soon got a call on the location of Magistrate's Son, so they left as Yorkes and Stein stayed back.
The Runaways returned unsuccessful, but Leslie Dean gave birth. Yorkes and Stein displayed their finished weapons as they prepared to confront the Magistrates. Before departing, Yorkes opened her door, only to find Stein in front of it. She remarked that that was creepy. Stein said that if they were dying, he wanted to say how he felt about her. Yorkes did not respond and ultimately ignored him. She then discussed this with Old Lace, thinking she was treating him harshly.
The group arrived to confront the Magistrates, who soon ran. Yorkes followed the Magistrate's Wife, which was in Stacey Yorkes' body. Yorkes brought out a knife and stabbed the Wife, surprising even her. Yorkes then brought out a pair of scissors and fidgeted them in her hand. The two fought until Molly Hernandez approached the Wife from behind, showing her the sister power. Yorkes and Hernandez then returned to the middle where they were blasted at by all four Magistrates with Karolina defending them. Suddenly, the Staff of One emerged from Nico Minoru's chest. She used this to make the Magistrates vanish into thin air along with their hosts.[29]
Missing Time[]
The Truth[]
The Runaways woke up in the Hostel, but immediately noticed there was a party on the first floor. Yorkes mentioned how it looked like something out of The Great Gatsby. They walked downstairs and into a magician's room. They were greeted by Quinton the Great. As they talked, they realized how racist Quinton was. He explained that they were in a different realm. If they stayed there long enough, they could start losing their memories.
The Runaways walked through a door and were separated as they went into their own visions. Gert walked into her parent's laboratory and heard roaring coming from a dinosaur. Stacey Yorkes then came in, saying Gert was not supposed to be down there. Stacey then nonchalantly walked over to a briefcase, opening it up. Gert realized this was Stacey's nightmare, but it also actually happened. Stacey grabbed a serum and used the mind wiping serum on Gert. She was then put to sleep by the injection.
Gert woke up later and realized that Stacey mind wiped her in the past. Stacey confirmed this, but said that that worked perfectly last time, yet now it did not work. Gert calmed down and asked at what age this happened. Stacey said she was either twelve or thirteen. Gert realized that it was when her anxiety started, meaning Stacey gave her anxiety. Once Gert got over that fact, Stacy allowed Gert to feed the dinosaur, who was just a prototype and not Old Lace. Gert walked into the cage to see Number 33, who was very wild. As she inched closer, she was able to briefly calm down 33 and pet her. She then fed 33 chicken and walked back out.
As she walked out, she was found by Chase and Victor Stein. Gert hugged Chase as they walked out to meet the other Runaways. When they reunited with Molly Hernandez, she did not remember Stacey. This confirmed Quinton's fact that they would start losing memories. They went back to the Hostel and opened up a portal with the help of Quinton, Tina, and Nico Minoru. Gert entered the portal and found everyone back at the real Hostel. They searched around, realizing that the Hostel was very dirty. When they opened up the computer, they found that Wilder's hard drive had not been backed up for over six months, meaning that they were now six months in the future.[8]
Meeting Max[]
The next morning, Yorkes was scared by a random stuffed bird in front of her. Nico Minoru apologized saying that she was working on spells to get Alex Wilder back, but they were not working. The group then went out to get something to eat. At the diner, Chase Stein was being impatient due to the line, but Yorkes stated that the brain tricked you into thinking the food was better because you were waiting so long.
A man overheard her. He agreed and introduced himself as Max. He explained that he was an intern at Corvus and was handing out phones. He gave the group some phones before talking to Yorkes, causing Stein to get jealous. Inside, the group ate and Yorkes called Stein out for being a jealous ex-boyfriend. They then saw a man beating up Max for cracking his phone on accident. The Runaways broke up the fight and Stein was confused on why a phone started a fight. Yorkes stayed with Max as the ambulance came. He then showed her how to friend him on Corvus.
As Yorkes and Stein walked back to the Hostel, Yorkes became enchanted by the phone, causing her to get violent. When Stein talked to her, she ignored him until she stepped into traffic and got saved by Stein. Instead of thanking him, she yelled at him for breaking her phone as it dropped when he grabbed her. Back at the Hostel, Yorkes found Stein taking the phone apart. He found a feather and took it out, causing the phone to disintegrate. Yorkes became very mad and yelled at him. When Minoru checked Stein's phone, Yorkes ripped it out of Minoru's hand.
Stein came in later to see Yorkes still texting Max. She then got mad at him, saying that she would have Old Lace eat his face off. She then snapped out of the spell and realized the phone was evil. The group then went to the Wizard party to scout of Morgan le Fay despite Minoru believing that she was not evil. Yorkes met with Max and connected with him even more. Stein stayed with them, still jealous. He also believed Max was behind the phones and pressured him. Yorkes stepped away with Stein and talked about him having to let go. The group returned home to find Molly Hernandez under the spell of the Corvus phone.[30]Yorkes and the others were able to get the phone out of Hernandez's hand and smash it, breaking Hernandez from the spell.[31]
Captured[]
Yorkes and Chase Stein tried to log into Alex Wilder's computer so they could spread the word on the Corvus phones. Yorkes went through many methods, but was unable to get it unlocked, only coming up with a result of "c;". Molly Hernandez then recommended to try a password. Yorkes tried "DOCTORWHO," which caused the computer to delete its files. Karolina Dean decided to let them go to Church of Gibborim to use their computers.
Once they got it set up, they started live stream to warn everyone about the phones. They soon finished and checked the views, only to find the stream was erased from existence, likely from Morgan le Fay. Defeated, the group walked outside and found Dale Yorkes, who was living there. They then approached Bodhi who was Hernandez's friend. However, Bodhi actually was allies with the sorcerers. Bronwyn and Cassandra then arrived and knocked everyone out. Yorkes woke up while being tied to a chair, which she claimed hurt. She then saw that she was with the Runaways, Dale, Stacey Yorkes, and Victor Stein.[31]
Saving Alex[]
Chase Stein tipped his chair over to fall onto the ground. He then untied Yorkes, who broke free attempting to untie everyone else. Suddenly, a mind controlled Geoffrey Wilder walked in to stop them, telling Yorkes to sit back down. Suddenly, Nico Minoru arrived with Cloak and Dagger. The threesome was able to defeat the wizards and Cloak teleported everyone to the Dark Dimension. When they got there, Minoru told everyone they were going to save Alex Wilder. However, Yorkes was just worried that they left Molly Hernandez behind.
The group made their way through the Dimension and through the broken down Los Angeles. Suddenly, AWOL's men found them. The Runaways ran into an alley, but were cornered. Quinton the Great then came out of nowhere, creating a barrier and getting them to safety. He then brought them to the building where Wilder was and said he was in a prison on the top floor. As they walked in, they heard Quinton getting killed outside.
As they walked through the building, Yorkes stayed behind everyone and suddenly heard her name being called. She followed the noise to find a younger Hernandez. She approached Hernandez only to find her growl and start charging towards Yorkes. Stein and Cloak showed up to save her and teleported them. However, since he was unfamiliar with the place, he teleported them to the other building.
Trying to make it to Wilder, they walked through the building and found AWOL's men. They were able to successfully evade them and move along. As they went further, Yorkes started getting very worried as she remembered that they were gone for six months last time. She was scared that she would just leave Hernandez alone for months or years without any explanation. She begged for Cloak to teleport her back, but he refused as he could not just leave everyone. Cloak then touched Yorkes, using his powers to see her fears. In this vision, Yorkes saw Hernandez, Stein, and Old Lace being attacked. Yorkes yelled for them, but was powerless to help. She was removed from the vision, scared and confused.
Suddenly, AWOL's men charged in along with a zombified and evil Quinton. As they prepared to fight, Minoru, Dean, and Dagger came crashing through the window to help. The fight commenced, but Quinton disappeared and reappeared in various places making it an impossible fight. Finally, Minoru took one of Bowen's daggers and solidified it to stab Quinton. They were then able to get to Wilder, embracing him.
With Wilder in hand, the group returned to the Hostel. However, Bowen said they had to go back as she sensed darkness in Wilder. The group chalked it up to the torture that Wilder had gone through. Yorkes then checked her phone as saw they were only gone for eight hours. Cloak then apologized to Yorkes for seeing her fears, but thought it was cool how many people she cared about. However, he did not believe he saw a dinosaur, so Yorkes called out Old Lace to see him. When Cloak and Dagger left, they tried to go out and find Hernandez.[32]
Defeating le Fay[]
Yorkes walked around the Hostel, trying to find Molly Hernandez. However, she did find Old Lace, who was under some blankets. Yorkes apologized for always leaving her, saying she would not do it again. She then called Hernandez and finally got an answer. Hernandez assured them that she was okay.
Later, the parents all arrived, having saved Hernandez from Morgan le Fay. Hernandez explained to the confused Runaways that she was under a spell that made her say she was okay. They all then discussed ways to defeat le Fay. Afterwards, Yorkes talked to Hernandez, who showed Yorkes a scar on her chest from getting struck by lightning. Yorkes became very worried, but Hernandez said it was good because it reminded hr that le Fay picked a strong person for her spell; someone who could survive. Hernandez claimed that they were superheroes.
Yorkes walked over to Chase Stein and started talking to him about their relationship. She claimed that she was unfair, but was still really hurt by Stein leaving. She looked up to see Stein not even listening. He apologized and showed her what he had been working on. He figured out that the late registration for her college was soon and they could get an apllication in. Yorkes was speechless and kissed Stein, saying thank you.
Gert then watched as Dale Yorkes created a serum to stop them from getting affected by le Fay's spells. She told Dale that it was bad-ass. He then gave her the serum, but before injecting it, Gert asked if it would disrupt her connection with Old Lace. Dale admitted that he had no idea. Gert then walked over to Lace, telling her that she felt bad, but they had to lock her away just in case.
Yorkes was injected and went downstairs to find Chase Stein, saying that he was the last person they needed. However, Stein had come in contact with the Corvus phone. Stein turned around and blasted Yorkes into a wall with his Fistigons. As Hernandez held him down, Yorkes got up and injected him. Suddenly, le Fay arrived through a portal. She gave the kids a choice, either submit and be spared, or do not submit and die. Yorkes and the other decided to submit as they saw no hope. However, this was just a distraction as Victor Stein shut off all Corvus satellites.
The kids stood triumphant as the fight commenced.[33] Yorkes ran into a room where Tina Minoru prepared a spell with salt. Yorkes asked if she just needed to put a circle around le Fay; Tina nodded. As Yorkes prepared to fill her hand, Chase Stein walked in. Yorkes weirdly recognized his new outfit from before they found the truth about their parents. He then explained that he needed to complete the circle as what happens after, is not a life worth living. A confused Yorkes wanted to help, but Stein assured her that they win, they always win.
Stein walked out, tracing a circle of salt. However, Yorkes did not listen and also walked out. le Fay proceeded to throw Yorkes into a wall, knocking her out. When she came to, Lace was on top of her. She looked up to see le Fay defeated, but Stein on the ground dying. She rushed over to Stein, crying as she held him in her arms. Much to her surprise, another Chase Stein ran down the stairs, exclaiming that they won. However, he claimed he was knocked out by himself. He then looked down to see another version of him. Karolina Dean concluded that it must have been time travel as the dying Stein disappeared from existence.
The next day, the Runaways went to the entrance of the Hostel, getting ready to go out. They got Alex Wilder to hurry up before walking out to have breakfast, embracing each other as they did so.[9]

Yorkes' most notable characteristic was her strong social justice warrior attitude, which she plainly embraced, displaying a zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, be it sexism, racism, homophobia or specism. She was very well known in Atlas Academy for her actions, such as promoting the use of neutral-gender bathrooms or vegan meals in the school's restaurant, but often came across her schoolmates as incredibly aggravating due to the aggressivity she displayed on these subjects. She could also show insolence towards her parents, frequently making sarcastic comments to them, which they usually put up with. However, it eventually turned out that her behavior was also largely a front to mask her true feelings and her desire to be recognized, especially by Chase Stein, who she was attracted to.
Yorkes' beliefs gave her a strong moral compass she was unwilling to go against. Upon discovering that PRIDE was nothing but an organization of criminals, she kept insisting that the Runaways had to do everything to never become like their parents, and thus disapproved whenever their actions could go against morality or law. As such, when she learned that there were actually living beings in the hole of the PRIDE Construction Site, Yorkes was adamant that they had to save them instead of risking to destroy them like Alex Wilder suggested. She was also hostile to Wilder's attempt to ally with the corrupt AWOL, and felt immensely betrayed when Stein decided to leave the Runaways, claiming that she would be willing to completely forget him through the use of Synnergy Serum to forget how heartbroken she had been when her boyfriend chose to return home.
Yorkes had one major weakness: she suffered from anxiety issues which became much more troublesome when she fled from home, thus being deprived of her meds. The pain and anguish sometimes made her behaving aggressively to her friends. Yorkes' anxiety troubles could cause her to contradict herself, especially regarding her beliefs, making her a hypocrite on Yorkes' own admittance. For instance, she criticized Karolina Dean's thought that the Runaways were a family as nonsense coming from Dean's Church of Gibborim's education, thus omitting Yorkes herself had made the same statement to PRIDE during a confrontation. Yorkes' anxiety also led her to leave the Hostel to go to the hospital without telling her boyfriend Stein and her adoptive sister Molly Hernandez, causing her to be blamed for her selfishness although Yorkes claimed that she had left so that no one would get hurt because of her problems.

Yorkes possesses a telepathic link with Old Lace, allowing Yorkes to form a bond with the creature and command her. Given time and bonding, their telepathic connection grew. Their connection grew to a point where when Old Lace was poisoned, Yorkes became ill along with the dinosaur, though her symptoms were only psychosomatic.
Empathy: Once their connection had grown, Yorkes begun experiencing what Old Lace was feeling, specifically when said feeling can be powerful such as hunger and pain. Yorkes is also able to feel sensory input, that Old Lace is feeling, like the taste of food being fed to her.
Animal Scrying: With the help of her father, Yorkes was able to learn how to see through Old Lace's eyes while controlling her directly.

Combatant: Having gone to self-defense classes, Yorkes has a basic training in hand-to-hand combat. During her fight with the Magistrate's Wife, Yorkes efficiently attacked her opponent and countered several blows, but was ultimately overpowered by the Gibborim.
Knife Mastery: Yorkes is highly skilled with knives as she was able use her Anti-Gibborim Blades against the Magistrate's Wife, throwing the dagger into her shoulder. She also proficiently used a butterfly knife, spinning it and attacking her opponent.
Bilingualism: Yorkes is in fluent her native English, as well as Spanish.
Yorkes Residence: Yorkes lived in this wealthy residence with her parents Dale and Stacey and her adoptive sister Molly. She left the house upon running away with her friends, but was later brought back Chase Stein in an attempt to cure her from mysterious symptoms. Yorkes was held prisoner by her parents, but was later rescued from the residence's basement by the Runaways.
Timely Coffee: Yorkes often met with the other Runaways at the Timely Coffee, where they would discuss their plans to take down PRIDE.
Hostel: Like the other Runaways, Yorkes took residence in an underground mansion known as the Hostel. She initially shared a room with her boyfriend Chase Stein, but they eventually got separated due to Yorkes briefly leaving the Hostel to go to a hospital. Yorkes returned to the Hostel, but began feeling ill due to Old Lace being poisoned, forcing Stein to take her out of the Hostel as it was being besieged. Yorkes was once again able to return to the mansion before being captured by her father.
