Iryna Maximoff was the wife of Olek Maximoff and the mother of Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Iryna was born in Sokovia. At some point, she married a man named Olek Maximoff, and in 1989, they had twin children, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.[1]
Novi Grad Bombings[]
In 1999, Iryna was preparing dinner when Olek Maximoff came home for movie night. Pietro Maximoff reminded them that they could only speak english on those nights. Wanda Maximoff picked out the show she always did, The Dick van Dyke Show. Iryna noticed outside the ongoing attacks. Iryna sat down next to Olek as the episode started. They family watched, happy as can be. Iryna blew an air kiss to Wanda as her daughter looked back laughing. Suddenly, a Stark Industries missile hit the house from behind, killing Iryna and Olek instantly.[1][2]
Legacy[]
Maximoff and her husband were remembered fondly by Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, who went on to join a rebel movement and get recruited into HYDRA. The siblings swore revenge on Tony Stark for building the weapons which killed her parents.[3]

- Bilingualism: Maximoff is fluent in her native Sokovian and English, though she spoke the latter with a dense Eastern European accent.
Facilities[]
- Maximoff Residence: Maximoff lived with her family at their home in Novi Grad, Sokovia. On one of the family's movie nights, several Stark Industries mortar shells part of the Novi Grad Bombings hit the building, instantly killing Maximoff and her husband.

- In the comics, Natalya Maximoff was a Romani Transian witch and the first to hold the title of the Scarlet Witch. After her death, her twin children Wanda and Pietro were raised by her brother Django and his wife Marya Maximoff.
