Hailstrum was a Frost Giant warrior and a loyal subordinate of Laufey. He was killed by Thor during the Attack on Jotunheim.

Hailstrum gets struck in the head with Mjølnir
Hailstrum was a Frost Giant, a member of Laufey's army and easily one of the largest and strongest of his kind. He fought with Thor when he arrived along with Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three to invade his home Jotunheim, and managed to briefly keep the God of Thunder off-balance using his size and strength. However Thor eventually threw Mjølnir at Hailstrum, which crushed the Frost Giant's skull, killing him instantly.[4]

- Frost Giant Physiology: As a Frost Giant, Hailstrum possessed all of the various superhuman attributes common among his people, including superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, healing, and was extremely long-lived, as well as the ability to manipulate ice.
- Superhuman Strength: Like all Frost Giants, Hailstrum possessed great superhuman strength, managing to keep Thor off balance with his strength and send him flying across the battlefield with a punch, although he ultimately did no damage to Thor at all.
- Superhuman Durability: Hailstrum was durable enough to withstand a few hits from Mjølnir. However, it was not enough to not be killed by Thor's accurate throw of Mjølnir at his head.
- Superhuman Speed: Hailstrum could run at superhuman speed, running into battle as the Asgardians invaded Jotunheim.
- Superhuman Agility: Hailstrum naturally possessed a great amount of agility, jumping from a great height into battle and landomg on his feet.
- Superhuman Stamina: Hailstrum is very resistant to fatigue, fighting against Thor for a respectable amount of time before getting killed.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Hailstrum could react and dodge objects traveling at high speeds.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Hailstrum was able to recover from injuries at a very fast rate, though that did not allow him to survive a fatal injury from a blow of Thor's hammer.
- Longevity: Hailstrum, like all other Frost Giants, were extremely long-lived beings, he aged at a slow pace, being able to live for thousands of years.
- Ice Manipulation: As a Frost Giant, Hailstrum possessed the ability to create and manipulate ice. The ice could be formed into practically anything he thought of, being able to form a wide variety of weapons and tools made of ice.
- Cold Immunity: Due to his Frost Giant physiology, Hailstrum was immune to cold, being able to live on Jotunheim, a realm that was cold enough to kill any normal human being, for thousands of years.

- Combatant: Hailstrum was a very capable combatant. He was able to battle Thor for a short time, headbutting and punching him before getting killed.
