- In the comics, the Fantastic Four is a group of adventurers who accidentally got powers by being hit with cosmic rays while on a space trip. They are Marvel's First Family and the issue Fantastic Four #1 (1961) marks the beginning of the Marvel Universe. As such, their origin is the start of the Age of Heroes in Marvel Comics as well as the start of the comics' sliding timescale. Their expansive cast includes Doctor Doom, Galactus, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Black Bolt, Annihilus, Uatu the Watcher, and more.
