"You're not wrong... call yourself one of the world's greatest archers."
"Oh, my God, do you really think so? I wasn't sure how I'd do under all that pressure..."
Clint Barton and Kate Bishop[src]

The Escape from the Tracksuit Mafia was a successful escape from the Tracksuit Mafia's headquarters, orchestrated by Kate Bishop and Clint Barton following his capture.

Background[]

Ronin's Return[]

"I'm telling you, it was the Ronin!"
"He's here somewhere, bro! Keep looking!"
Tracksuit Mafia Members[src]

Kate Bishop stumbled upon a black market auction while investigating Jack Duquesne and Armand Duquesne III, which was selling the suit and sword that were used by Clint Barton during his time as Ronin, hunting organized crime. The Tracksuit Mafia then attacked the auction, causing chaos. In the chaos, Bishop retrieved the Ronin suit and put it on, attempting to fight off the Tracksuit Mafia. Bishop fought her way through most of the members and made it to the person putting stuff in their truck, where she received help from a dog. The dog proceeded to run into oncoming traffic, but Bishop saved him and was filmed in the act.[2]

Being filmed in the Ronin suit caught public attention and was reported on by NY1, which Clint Barton saw. Barton tracked Bishop down as she was getting attacked by the Tracksuit Mafia and helped her. Bishop revealed her identity, and Barton retrieved the Ronin suit from Bishop, hoping to get rid of it and its legacy.[3]

Capture of Clint Barton[]

"Hey, easy, bro."
"Hey, Hawkeye, you have some place to be? You gonna be a little late!"

Clint Barton stored the Ronin suit in a gym locker and decided to extend his stay and sort things out with the Tracksuit Mafia by talking to their boss, hoping to convince her that Kate Bishop was not Ronin. Barton planned to use a strategy Natasha Romanoff had previously employed, by allowing himself to get captured so that he could talk to them. Barton left his home as planned and was kidnapped by the Tracksuit Mafia, who he took him into their van. They put a bag over his head, but he told them he could still see, as they took him to their hideout.

Kate Bishop attempted to contact Barton and inform him of a possible lead, unaware that he had allowed himself to be captured. Bishop tracked Barton's location and tried to infiltrate the building where he was being interrogated, but ultimately got captured herself, just as Barton denied her involvement and talk to the Tracksuit Mafia's boss.[3]

Being tied to a pony ride, Barton and Bishop were taunted by the Tracksuits through the night, as they were forced to ride on the coin-operated horses. When the Tracksuits moved away from them, Barton explained to Bishop that he was close to clearing her name from the Ronin suit until she got herself caught.

However, they were immediately then faced with the leader of the Tracksuits, Maya Lopez, who noticed Barton's hearing aid and asked if he was deaf like her, but he explained that he was only hard of hearing. Lopez attempted to communicate directly with Barton in American Sign Language, but Barton's skills in the language proved poor, so she used Kazi Kazimierczak to translate. Barton tried to explain that Bishop was not Ronin, and only wore the suit by mistake, but Lopez was unconvinced, stating that Ronin could still be out there. Barton continued to try and convince Lopez that Ronin was dead as he was killed off by Natasha Romanoff.[4]

"We're gonna get out of this. You go back to living your life I'll go back to my family. You're gonna harness that overconfidence of yours, okay? This ridiculous overconfidence, you remember that one?"

Maya Lopez proceeded to question Kate Bishop, which gave Barton the opportunity to start and free himself from the duct tape. As Lopez started getting aggressive with Bishop, Barton decided to commence his escape, resulting in Barton being chased through the warehouse by the Tracksuit Mafia.

Barton skillfully evaded several of the Tracksuits, but was outmatched whilst fighting Lopez, who destroyed his hearing aid, almost defeating him before he reclaimed his bow and arrow. As Barton fought off the Mafia through his master marksmanship, Kazimierczak stood watch over Bishop. Bishop then saw as Barton fought Lopez in one of the warehouse's offices, and Barton used his bow and arrow to fight her and free Bishop of her restraints.

Bishop then engaged in combat against Kazimierczak. She grabbed hold of a shopping cart and used it to plow into him, and to fend off Enrique, who charged her. Bishop then used her legs and slid on the floor to take Kazimierczak out, however, when he stood back up, Barton rushed over and knocked him out. Barton told Bishop to follow him and that his hearing aid had broken.[4]

Car Chase[]

"Hit their wheels with the putty arrow."
"Oh. Great idea. I'll do that as soon as you label these damn things. This'd be a lot easier if we were facing–"
"It'd be easier if we were facing the other way."
Clint Barton and Kate Bishop[src]

With the Tracksuit Mafia still coming after them, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop rushed outside and attempted to steal a car, bickering about who would drive and who would shoot, with Barton unable to hear Bishop due to hearing aid being broken, much to the duo's frustration. The Tracksuits then came outside, forcing Barton to drive them away, pursued by the Tracksuit Mafia driving numerous vehicles aside them.

Bishop retrieved Barton's quiver to fight against the Tracksuits, but Barton warned her that there were only trick arrows left for her to use, much to her excitement. Bishop reported to Barton that four vehicles were chasing them and she grabbed Barton's bow to use. Barton handed her one of his arrows and she fired it, causing purple putty to form on Kazi Kazimierczak's truck's windshield. Barton then handed Bishop another arrow which she shot, which caused one of the Mafia's vans to explode, causing it to flip over. Bishop told Barton that it would be best for him to turn the car around, and he said the same thing without hearing her, causing Bishop to be excited.

Barton began driving backwards to let Bishop shoot better, eliminating each of the vehicles. In order to get away from the Mafia, Barton took a detour into Rosie's Christmas Trees, where Bishop used a trap arrow to net up a bunch of Christmas trees into Kazimierczak's path. The duo continued to use arrows in sequence to defeat their enemies, but Maya Lopez remained unfazed and continued after them.

Barton drove onto Manhattan Bridge as Lopez drove up next to them. Tomas fought Barton, and Bishop saw her bow in the backseat, retrieving it. Bishop fired a smoke screen arrow into Lopez's car, allowing them to get clear momentarily. Noticing that the road was blocked by traffic and that Kazi Kazimierczak was driving straight towards them, Barton told Bishop to shoot an arrow upwards, as he shot an arrow containing Pym Particles at it, enlarging the arrow, and destroying the approaching van.

Barton handed Bishop a USB arrow and ran to retrieve his plunger arrow, as Bishop threatened the Mafia not to move. She then shot the arrow into Ivan Banionis, but it bounced right off his chest. Out of arrows, Barton rushed to collect a plunger arrow Bishop had fired and quickly returned to Bishop, all while under fire from the Tracksuits. Barton and Bishop jumped off the bridge, and as they fell, both holding onto Barton's bow, Barton released a grapple so they could swing onto a passing train, which they stuck to with the plunger arrow. They managed to land at a safe spot, and the duo went onto the train.[4]

Aftermath[]

Barton acknowledges Bishop's skill

"Whether you like it or not, the Tracksuits have connected us both to Ronin, and it's pretty clear they're not just gonna drop this."
Kate Bishop to Clint Barton[src]

Clint Barton and Kate Bishop entered into the train and once inside, Barton finally acknowledged Bishop's claims of being one of the world's greatest archers - having witnessed her great skill during their escape, for which Bishop thanked him for. While catching their breath in the train, they both noted that they needed to get back to Bishop's dog back in her apartment. Barton and Bishop then got Barton's hearing aids fixed.[4]

Clint threatens Kazi

Barton attempts to convince Kazimierczak to talk to Lopez

Barton attempted to convince Kazi Kazimierczak to get Maya Lopez to stop her hunt for Ronin, but the issue became complicated after Barton helped Bishop to break into Lopez's apartment in order to retrieve a watch[5] which belonged to Laura Barton.[6] Lopez caught Bishop and fought her, while Yelena Belova appeared and fought Barton. Barton and Bishop managed to incapacitate Lopez while Belova left, and Lopez became injured.[5]

Clint Barton (Ronin)

Barton reveals the truth to Lopez

Kazimierczak agreed to help Lopez kill Ronin, as Barton set up a meeting with Lopez. He revealed himself to be Ronin, and told Lopez that her boss, Wilson Fisk, had someone tell Barton where the Tracksuit Mafia would be the night that Barton killed Lopez's father. Lopez deduced that Kazimierczak was the person to told Barton, upsetting her[1] and causing her to decide to end her hunt for Ronin. Lopez instead seemingly killed Kazimierczak and shot Fisk in the face as revenge.[6]
