Enkidu was a Deviant who fought the Eternals on Babylon in 575 B.C. He was killed by Gilgamesh, and later on stories about his fight against the Eternals were told by Sprite to the Mesopotamians, which resulted in Enkidu becoming deified in Ancient Sumerian history and mythology.
When a group of Deviants attacked Babylon, Mesopotamia in 575 B.C., Enkidu was among them. The Eternals were able to defeat the other Deviants, with only Enkidu left. When Gilgamesh ensured that the humans got to safety inside the walls of the city, Enkidu charged at him, but was hit by Gilgamesh's punch. He quickly got up, and threw Gilgamesh away, who was caught by Makkari. Ikaris then attacked him with his eye beams. The rest of the team reunited, and engaged in a battle against Enkidu. Thena was able to cut one of his horns, and Gilgamesh was finally able to knock him down, killing the beast.[1]
Incorporated into Mythology[]
"Follow Gilgamesh and Enkidu into battle. Be forever inspired by their bravery and strength."
Later that night, Sprite used her illusions to showcase and embellish Gilgamesh's exploits to the Mesopotamians, including Gilgamesh and Enkidu's duel. This resulted in Enkidu being incorporated in Ancient Sumerian history and mythology.[1]
In the comics, Enkidu was a beast-man who fought and was defeated by Gilgamesh, and after that the two became fast friends. This was based on the character of the same name from the Epic of Gilgamesh.
