- "I am the Eminence. I preserve the sanctity of the Multiverse by observing those who are sworn to watch over it. Watching the Watchers to ensure they do not dare ponder the most dangerous question of all... What if?"
- ―Eminence[src]
The Eminence is the one of the leaders of the Order of the Watchers and the former mentor of Uatu, originally dedicated to simply observe the Multiverse without interfering with it. However, because of Uatu's Interference, Eminence and his fellow leaders captured and trialed Uatu for tampering with the natural order of realities, taking extreme measures in order to restore it to its original status. After some failed attempts to execute Uatu and the Guardians of the Multiverse, he was rendered powerless once stranded in the "Reforged Universe", where he began to be convinced by his former pupil to be open-minded about his views on being a Watcher.

Trivia[]
- Eminence is an original character. The highest-ranking Watcher in the comics is the One, though he is killed by the Celestials. In general, the Watchers are governed by their elders. Due to his bad habit of interfering, Uatu has been judged and/or put on trial several times, and it is a different Watcher elder each time:
- In Captain Marvel #39, it is Emnu who judges Uatu for his countless interferences, mostly involving the Fantastic Four.
- In Fantastic Four #400, it is He Who Summons who judges Uatu for killing Aron the Rogue Watcher.
- In Fantastic Four's Reckoning War storyline, it is Uatu's own father Ikor who puts him on trial, both to silence him about the Prosilicans and to teach his son to stop interferring.
- Eminence replaced Watcher in giving the opening narration for What If... The Watcher Disappeared?. Unlike Watcher's inviting narration, Eminence's was more dismissive and had a darker tone to it with the opening credits matching the tone.
