"Don't you be one of those bastards who gives me a platitude when I'm looking for the truth! That one, over there. You know what he told me? He told me that my nation owes me a debt of gratitude. But he won't even tell me where on Planet Earth my daughter was killed. So apparently, facts are not included in the debt I'm owed."
―Elizabeth Hill to Nick Fury[src]

Elizabeth Hill is the mother of Maria Hill.

Biography[]

Losing a Daughter[]

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect her, Elizabeth."
"You're Nick Fury. Maria believed in you. She would've followed you to the gates of hell and back. Look, I don't know what Maria died for out there. But whatever it was, don't let it be for nothing."

Elizabeth sees Maria's casket

Elizabeth Hill had a daughter named Maria, who often put her life in danger for the world and Nick Fury. In 2026, Hill got a call that Maria was killed, but was refused any knowledge about the event. Heartbroken, Hill went to an airport in London, where she was told that her nation owed her a debt of gratitude. However, she was denied knowledge of where Maria was when she was killed. Maria's casket was brought out and covered in an American flag, which Hill touched before the soldiers brought the casket onto a plane.

Hill speaks with Nick Fury

Hill saw Fury and approached him, asking how she died. Fury told Hill that she died quickly, prompting Hill to yell at him about giving her a platitude rather than the truth. Elizabeth was angry that she was not being told how or where Maria died, so Fury confessed that they were in Moscow, where someone had set a trap for him. He explained that someone had hurt Fury by hurting Maria. Hill blamed Fury for Maria's death, prompting Fury to apologize for not protecting her. Hill commented that Maria believed in him, telling Fury not to allow Maria's death to be in vain before returning to the plane.[1]
