Starr was a complicated person, as while he cared for his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Ava, he wanted more and plotted to steal Pym's plans to work on the Quantum Realm. However, Pym found out and fired and discredited him, forcing Starr and his family to go into hiding.
Sometime later, Starr managed to recreate Pym's Quantum Realm plans. Unfortunately, Starr was clearly not as smart or patient as him, as the device overloaded and threatened to explode.
