Ego's Expansion is Ego's quest to conquer and assimilate the universe into new extensions of his consciousness, using Peter Quill.
Background[]
In order to expand his consciousness and assimilate the universe, Ego stared to sire his offspring around multiple planets, hoping that one of them would inherit his Celestial physiology. Eventually, Ego found that one of them, Peter Quill of Earth was suitable for his cause, so he hired the Ravagers to deliver Quill to him. However, the Ravagers accidentally kidnapped T'Challa instead. Yondu Udonta decided to let T'Challa join the Ravagers and subsequently cut their ties to Ego.[1]

Ego approaches Peter Quill
Eventually, Ego managed to find Peter Quill on his own in St. Charles, Missouri, working at Dairy Queen.[1] Ego started to forcefully drain Quill's Celestial DNA to use him as a power source for his Expansion, terraforming multiple planets he planted his seedings at. The Ravagers rushed to St. Charles to stop Ego, and Star-Lord rescued Quill, attacking Ego with an explosive. Star-Lord was momentarily taken by Watcher to help fight Ultron, but returned and fought alongside Quill.[2]
