Upon learning the truth that Maggie Grace was his mother, Matt Murdock found Paul Lantom at Duke's Pool Hall where the priest beat Mark at the pool. Lantom asked Murdock what he was doing there. Murdock then asked if Lantom knew that Grace was his mother. Lantom was quite surprised by Murdock's question, which made it clear to Murdock that Lantom knew. Lantom said that he could not have told Murdock the truth even when he wanted to, which did not satisfy Murdock.
Mark was shocked that Lantom was a priest, and Lantom told him to take his money and go. Murdock asked Lantom to tell him why he did not tell him sooner. Lantom answered that he had prayed for Grace to find the strength to tell him herself. Murdock furiously noted that he felt that he was alone most of his life and that Lantom had let him believe it. Lantom tried to calm Murdock down and said that Grace wass a good person despite her mistakes in the past.
After that, Lantom told Murdock about Grace's first meeting with Jack Murdock, how they married and gave birth to Murdock. However, Grace suffered from postpartum depression and then she left her husband and son. The story did not please Murdock and he told Lantom that he thought that he was stupid because the truth was in front of him so long. Then he realized that it had been in front of Lantom from the beginning and shamed him before leaving the bar and Lantom.[1]
