The Duel at El Monte Junkyard was a confrontation between the Inhuman vigilante Daisy Johnson and the demonic being known as Ghost Rider.
Background
In 2016, following the destruction of HYDRA and the ratification of the Sokovia Accords, S.H.I.E.L.D. was relegitimized under public servant Jeffrey Mace, who replaced veteran agent Phil Coulson as Director.
Around the same time, Inhuman agent Daisy Johnson went rogue and began operating as a vigilante. Dubbed "Quake" by the press, Johnson's actions prompted S.H.I.E.L.D. to launch a manhunt in a desperate attempt to find their renegade comrade.[1]
The following year, a series of murders began occurring in Los Angeles, California, all of which were believed to have been committed by an enigmatic vigilante known only as Ghost Rider. Having murdered members of both the Fifth Street Locos and the Watchdogs as well as councilman Roger Perez and pedophilic teacher Thomas Wright, the Ghost Rider quickly became a symbol of fear.[2]
On January 28th, Johnson learned that members of the Aryan Brotherhood had been hired by the Watchdogs. Having discovered that local gangs throughout the city had recently started working for the Watchdogs, she managed to track down four members who, unbeknownst to her, were eluding the Ghost Rider after being caught delivering a stolen box to the Chinatown Crew.
Confronting the quartet on a deserted street, Johnson easily defeated Scott in hand to hand combat only to watch as blood began pouring out of his chest and he begged for her help. Meanwhile, the other members noticed the Ghost Rider's car and attempted to destroy it with a rocket launcher but failed. In the ensuing confrontation, the Rider slaughtered Moore and Anderson before abducting Mitchell and driving away.
The next day, Johnson confronted Scott at the local hospital where he was staying and attempted to learn more about the Rider. Scott, however, only gave her a cryptic answer before opening his wound and allowing himself to slowly bleed to death. Frustrated, Johnson escaped the hospital and set out to learn the Rider's true identity on her own.[2]
