General Dreykov became the overseer for the Red Room program, a top-secret Soviet brainwashing and training program that turned young women into the world's deadliest assassins. Dreykov's associate, a woman known only as Madame B., managed the program for him, training the young girls.
Dreykov eventually discovered Natasha Romanoff, an orphan living in Russia, and recruited her, turning her over to Madame B. for training to become a seasoned spy for the KGB.[2]
