- Donald Glover was the inspiration for Miles Morales. Glover, wanting to be cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, wore a Spider-Man costume in the second season premiere of Community. Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis, upon seeing the episode, was inspired to create an African-American version of Spider-Man, which led to the introduction of Miles Morales in the comics. As a result, Glover was asked to voice Miles Morales in the third season of Ultimate Spider-Man, although he was replaced for the fourth season.
