Biography[]

This is an in-depth biography of Doctor Strange/Norman Osborn-Mentored Spider-Man. For an abridged overview, see Marvel Database's article on the same character.

Master of the Mystic Arts[]

Battle at Oscorp Tower[]

"Norman Osborn, I am Doctor Stephen Strange, and your experiment must not continue. You are opening the door to the cosmos, and you cannot even comprehend the unimaginable horrors that lie beyond it. On behalf of the sorcerers of the world, I'm putting an end to this."
"'The sorcerers'? Is that a new group of superhuman lunatics I'm supposed to be aware of?"
―Doctor Strange and Norman Osborn[src]

As Oscorp worked on Project Monolith to open a wormhole to outer space, Doctor Strange found out about it and realized the danger it might pose to the world. Opening an Inter-Dimensional Portal to Oscorp Tower, Strange showed up at the facility and introduced himself to Norman Osborn, warning him of the consequences of his actions. Strange claimed that if the gateway was to be activated, the incomprehensible horrors would be unleashed upon the world, and on the behalf of all the sorcerers of the world, he had to put a stop to it.

Strange dismisses Norman Osborn's accusations

Osborn initially scoffed at Strange's claims, but then Peter Parker called him a "guy from Midtown", which Strange did not understand and said that he lives in Greenwich Village. Osborn then accused Strange of being responsible of destroying the Midtown High School, but Strange replied that he had nothing to do with that and was nowhere near Midtown. The two continued to argue with Osborn insisting that superpowered individuals like him were the true menace, but Strange continued to insist that he had no business destroying schools left and right for no reason.

Strange stated that the gateway was the only real danger present, but Osborn dismissed him and claimed that true danger were Strange and those like him. Upon Osborn's order, Oscorp security guards fired their sonic cannons at Strange and incapacitated him, while Bentley Wittman activated the gateway. Strange used his magic to neutralize the guards and attempted to stop the gateway but it was too late and the wormhole was opened. Witnessing the gateway to a seemingly empty point in space, Osborn taunted Strange that his warnings were unfounded as he thought, but Strange already knew that the danger was nearing.

Doctor Strange vs Symbiotic Alien

Strange fights the Symbiotic Alien

To Osborn's and everyone's horror, the Symbiotic Alien emerged from the gateway and Strange ordered everyone to run while he confronted the invader. Arming himself with Tao Mandalas, Strange fought the Symbiote, while Oscorp scientists and staff rushed to flee from the facility. Even with his magic, the Symbiote proved to be a formidable foe, knocking Strange down and throwing at Osborn, which resulted in the gateway being damaged and deactivated. Soon after, Spider-Man arrived on the scene and confronted the Symbiote as well, while Strange rescued Osborn and joined Spider-Man in the fight.

As the conflict progressed, Strange decided to send the Symbiote to Dark Dimension for the time being until he figured out how to send him back to Klyntar and opened the portal. However, as Spider-Man got sent there as well with the Symbiote, Strange had to open up another portal and pull both of them back to Earth. Strange told Spider-Man that the Symbiote was way too resillient and they needed to figure out how to get him out of the planet, while trapping the Symbiote in a magic dome. Spider-Man replied that he might be able to repair the gateway, so Strange took it upon himself to restrain the Symbiote and give Spider-Man enough time.[1]

Midtown Time Travel[]

"Oh, no. We're not supposed to be here."
―Doctor Strange[src]

While Spider-Man proceeded to work on repairs, Strange got caught by the Symbiotic Alien, but managed to free himself by reversing the time with the Eye of Agamotto. Strange scolded Spider-Man for getting distracted and decided to take the Symbiote somewhere out of Oscorp Tower and opened an Inter-Dimensional Portal. However, the Symbiote lunged at Strange and tampered with the Time Stone, resulting in both of them falling through the portal. The two of them found themselves somewhere in New York City and seeing the Symbiote attacking a teenager, so Strange used the Eldritch Whip to stop it.

Symbiote vs. Doctor Strange

Questioning where they were, Strange spotted a sign and realized that they were at Midtown High School, recalling what Norman Osborn told him before, he realized that they were in the past.[1] The Symbiote managed to break free from restraints and Strange had to fight it at the school premises, causing great damage to the building. Being cornered at the gym, Strange cast the Shield of the Seraphim to protect himself from the Symbiote, but it managed to get through it. Strange then used his magic to flip the building's position, while commanding the Cloak of Levitation to save Ronnie from falling down.

Strange pushed the Symbiote through another portal, getting it back on the street, and quickly checked on Ronnie to see if he was alright. Giving the Cloak an order to sweep the premises and save all students, Strange followed the Symbiote and saw that it was about to throw a truck at him. Strange avoided the danger by using his astral projection and tried to reverse the damage to the school with the Time Stone, but because of the Symbiote, the truck did wreck the school even further. The Symbiote then threw Strange over to the football field, but the Cloak flew over to him just in time to stop Strange's fall.

Strange saves Peter Parker

While Strange was recovering, the Symbiote attacked Nico Minoru but the past Peter Parker distracted it and saved Minoru, giving Strange enough time to intervene. Strange restrained the Symbiote with Eldritch Whips and added the Images of Ikonn to hold it tighter. Strange thanked Parker for his bravery and took off with the Symbiote back through the portal back to their timeline.[2]

Closing the Gateway[]

"If you're waiting for your moment, it's now."
―Doctor Strange to Spider-Man[src]

Upon returning to their timeline with the Symbiotic Alien in tow, Strange was told by Spider-Man that he managed to restore the Project Monolith Gateway. However, as the wormhole got opened, the Symbitoe let out an ear-splitting shriek that alerted its fellow Symbiotes, so Strange and Spider-Man witnessed more aliens attempted to invade the Earth. They quickly decided to switch their positions and while Spider-Man fought the Symbiotic Alien, Strange sealed off the gateway to stop its brethren from emerging.

Strange tries to keep Symbiotes away

Spider-Man managed to defeat the Symbiote and through it back to Klyntar through the gateway and Strange had to keep away all Symbiotes as they were pushing through the magic seal. While Strange struggled to keep the aliens at bay, Spider-Man attempted to use his Synthetic Webbing to bring the gateway down, although it was taking time. Strange warned Spider-Man that he had to act quickly and used a concentrated magic blow to blast Symbiotes off to the distance, right as Spider-Man finally managed to destroy the gateway and stop the Symbiote invasion. With the danger finally passing, Spider-Man asked if such incidents happen often and Strange replied that they are becoming more and more often.[1]

Talk with Spider-Man[]

"Luckily, no one got seriously hurt today. Or back then."
"That we're aware of. But who knows who many lives were altered by me and that thing, going back and causing this?"
―Doctor Strange to Spider-Man[src]

Pondering over the time-traveling incident with the Symbiotic Alien, Strange came to the sealed off wreckage of Midtown High School, where he was joined by Spider-Man. The two discussed the time travel and Strange said that it was a mistake that should have been prevented, considering how many children might have get hurt. Spider-Man commented that thankfully, nobody got hurt at both Oscorp Tower and back at Midtown, but Strange remarked that they might not know how how many lives could have been affected because of what happened.

Strange Bids Farewell To Spider-Man

Strange bids farewell to Spider-Man

Spider-Man told Strange that he was present at Midtown back then and his life changed drastically because of that, but he believed that some things were simply destined to happen to make him who he is. Strange commended Spider-Man's wisdom and asked for his name, which caused the vigilante to almost reveal his real name but he managed to stop himself in time. Strange then bid him farewell and opened an Inter-Dimensional Portal out of there, but Spider-Man had one more question before he would leave. He asked if Strange could see the future and tell him what he should be preparing for, to which Strange replied that he cannot say but he was certain that Spider-Man would be ready for whatever is going to happen.[1]
