Devlin is a criminal and Luca's right-hand man, affiliated with the Five Families. In 2027, in the aftermath of the Hijacking at Red Hook Pier, Devlin was ordered to steal a valuable diamond from New York Mutual Bank so Luca could pay his restitution to Viktor. However, when Matt Murdock and the New York City Police Department intervened during his robbery, Devlin attempted to evade the police only to be incapacitated by a Masked Man. He was then arrested, and realized that his team failed to steal the diamond.
Biography[]
Working for Luca[]
Five Families Meeting[]
- "Easy, big man."
- ―Devlin[src]

Devlin talks to Viktor's bodyguard
Devlin joined Luca on a Five Families meeting, where Luca was telling Viktor that anyone going through his territory was required to pay a toll, even though Red Hook was supposed to be exempt from any tariffs. As their argument continued, one of Viktor's bodyguards reached for his gun, but Devlin noticed that and warned him to take it easy before it was too late. Vanessa Fisk approached Devlin and Luca, reminding them that Red Hook was indeed exempt and they need to keep their petty squabbles on the down low when they were posed to earn millions. However, Wilson Fisk soon showed up at the meeting, which Devlin and other Five Families members saw as their cue to leave, hastily leaving the Fisks alone.[3]
Hijacking at Red Hook Pier[]

Devlin politely asks for the keys to the truck
- "Evenin', gentlemen. Whoo! Nippy, isn't it? I couldn't trouble you for the keys to this fine vehicle, could I?"
- ―Devlin[src]
Despite Vanessa Fisk ruling, Devlin was ordered by Luca to keep an eye on Viktor's trucks driving through Red Hook Pier and make sure to collect the toll. Devlin stopped the truck crossing the port and approached the drivers, jovially commenting on the weather and asking the driver to hand over the truck's keys, as well as their wallets. While the driver complied, the other man in the truck was having none of Devlin shaking them down, asking if he even knew that the truck belonged to Viktor. Devlin only laughed at the man's attempt to intimidate him and when he showed the gun, Devlin had both him and the driver shot.[4]
Bank Robbery[]
Taking Hostages[]

Devlin and his men enter New York Mutual Bank
- "You've all been to the movies. This can go a couple of ways. You stay where you are, you keep your heads down, keep your traps shut, you stay out of our way and we'll stay out of yours. Easy. Everybody goes home and everybody has a wild story to tell."
- ―Devlin[src]
Wilson and Vanessa Fisk were not pleased with the stunt Devlin pulled at Red Hook Pier, so Luca was instructed to pay $1.8 million in restitution to Viktor.[4] Luca was furious but was forced to comply, so he ordered Devlin to steal a valuable diamond from New York Mutual Bank, which he would use as a payment to get Fisk off his back. Devlin prepared his men for an armed robbery, intending to take everyone there hostage and get to the vault, as he sent Selene there to be their person on the inside. Wearing masks to conceal their identities, Devlin and his men picked up their weapons and entered the bank, as he ordered everyone to stand still and put their hands up.

Devlin takes Selene to the hostages
The bank was soon under their control and Devlin personally instructed Selene and other hostages to get to the middle of the foyer and get down on their knees. Devlin then also ordered to check up the offices in case someone tried to call for help, and Blue found Yusuf Khan, who was then promptly taken to the rest of the hostages. Suddenly, Matt Murdock strolled into the bank, being blind and unaware of what was happening, making Devlin order to lock up the doors and make sure nobody else would walk in. With Murdock being taken to other hostages, Devlin addressed them and said that as long as everybody stays still and does what they are told, they would all go home unharmed.

Devlin pressures Yusuf Khan into opening the vault
Devlin also threatened the hostages that they would not hesitate to shoot anyone who tries to disobey and Murdock spoke up, claiming that if he kills anyone, he would be charged with felony murder and could even be sentenced to life in prison. Devlin commented that one of their hostages turned out to be a solicitor, before getting Red to hit him as a warning to other hostages for trying to speak out of turn. Devlin then demanded Steven Aldrich to come out but nobody responded, and to Devlin's annoyance, the New York City Police Department started to pull up to the bank. Devlin continued to look for Aldrich and approached Khan, who was an assistant bank manager and admitted that Aldrich was not at the bank. Devlin told other robbers to be quiet and asked if Khan had an access to the vault, to which Khan replied that he could indeed open it.
Yellow then informed others that the SWAT was arriving at the scene, but Devlin only told Red that there were no changes in their plan and if the police tries something, they still have the hostages. Devlin then told them that they will be stuck at the bank for longer than expected, warning the hostages that the less they knew about each other, the better. Devlin and Red then went away to speak at the office, taking their masks off, and Devlin suggested that someone must have called the police before they raided the bank. Red said that they could not have known beforehand but Devlin reminded him to focus on what actually mattered, as they had to resort to Plan B. Devlin then instructed Blue to take Khan down to open the vault, while he would stay to communicate with the police and buy them enough time to do their thing.[2]
Hostage Negotiation[]

Devlin communicates with Angie Kim
Devlin then got in contact with Angie Kim, who acted as a hostage negotiator on the scene, jokingly introducing himself as Jesse James. Kim commented on Devlin picking St. Patrick's Day to rob New York Mutual Bank, offering to come out and raise a pint of Guinness with her. Devlin remarked that Kim was trying to keep calm and firm, according to the New York City Police Department manual on hostage situations, noting that the police acts the same way all over the world. He guessed if Kim would then try to establish an upper hand, to which she responded that the police had the bank surrounded and he could only walk away either in handcuffs or in a body bag.
Knowing that Kim would rather resolve the situation without bloodshed, Devlin demanded three armored APVs to be delivered to the bank, and she questioned how necessary it would be for his crew. Devlin then told Kim that his job was to rob the bank, while her job was to prevent the hostages from getting killed, warning her that she had time until 9.45 before the first hostage dies. Kim replied that the time window was way too narrow and told Devlin to let a couple of hostages out as a sign of good faith. Red asked what would their next move be and Devlin decided to follow Luca's advice and lead the police to believe that they were in charge by complying with Kim's demand.

Devlin tells Matt Murdock that he is getting out
Devlin then puts his mask off and returned to the foyer, choosing Belinda and Murdock as those who would be released, congratulating both of them. Belinda pleaded with Devlin to let her husband Keith as well and Murdock suggested to let Keith go in his place. Devlin had no interest in listening to Murdock, who assumed that he was being released out of pity, but Devlin made it clear that he had no pity to Murdock. He then went on about his disdain towards the attorneys and the way the likes of him twist the truth in court, claiming that he was not releasing Murdock but instead getting rid of him like a nuisance. Murdock insisted that Devlin was giving him a chance to save himself, which he appreciated, but still asked for Belinda and Keith be let go in his stead.
Taking an interest in Murdock, Devlin decided to talk to him and upon learning his name, Devlin commented on their hostage not only being a blind lawyer with a martyr complex, but a fellow Irishman as well. Devlin asked Murdock where in Ireland was his family from, to which Murdock replied that he did not know as he was born in Hell's Kitchen and raised at Saint Agnes Orphanage. Laughing at how Murdock was an orphan as well and calling him a Charles Dickens character, Devlin eventually decided to keep Murdock in out of interest and ordered to release Belinda and Keith. Devlin then told Murdock to be careful with his wishes, before ordering Khan to go with Blue and open the vault.
Devlin later contacted his men via radio and asked for their status, before hearing that Khan needed some proper motivation but now they were almost in, so Devlin told him to carry on. Devlin then talked to Kim and asked about their APVs, which could not be delivered because of the roads being blocked by a celebrating crowd. Kim told him that they needed an hour before they could get the vehicles to the bank, assuring him that the police will do what asked, so they all could celebrate St. Patrick's Day in peace. Devlin then expressed his disappointment that Kim did not know the true significance of St. Patrick's Day, or the lack thereof, as it meant nothing for Devlin as an Irish person.

Devlin laughs at Angie Kim's crass joke
Devlin then decided to play around and taunt the police some more, saying that if Kim could make him laugh with a joke, he would consider giving her some more time. Kim scrambled to ask her colleagues for a joke and eventually came up with one about a priest and a leprechaun and Devlin mockingly praised her attempt at Irish accent. He listened to Kim telling the joke of leprechaun wondering if there were any leprechaun nuns, before realizing that he had sex with a penguin. Devlin went silent for a moment before he laughed and told Kim that she had exactly ten minutes before the first hostage gets shot.[2]
Defeated by Masked Man[]

Devlin sees the diamond in Matt Murdock's hands
- "When was the last time you spoke to the hostage negotiator? Been a while? Right? That's 'cause the police are no longer negotiating."
"Well then, Solicitor, maybe I need to convince them I'm serious." - ―Matt Murdock and Devlin[src]
Devlin then returned to the foyer and asked Yellow where Matt Murdock was, as he and Red were absent for quite a while. Suddenly, Murdock and Yusuf Khan showed up and Devlin pointed a gun at them, demanding to know how did Murdock get there on his own. Murdock then replied that he should not concern himself with that and think about his next move, to which Devlin ordered Murdock and Khan to put their hands up, but Murdock refused. To Devlin's confusion, Murdock told him to release all hostages while he still could, saying that the New York City Police Department stopped negotiating, which meant they were ready to move in. Devlin replied that he could prove how serious he was by starting killing the hostages, but Murdock claimed that he did not come there to kill anybody and showed the diamond Devlin and company came to steal.

Devlin slips away from the authorities
Devlin was shocked to see the diamond in Murdock's hands, asking where did he get that, and Murdock claimed that he found it on one of the robbers. He offered to exchange the diamond for Devlin releasing the hostages, but he then said that Murdock had no leverage and Devlin could just shoot him. Devlin then gave Murdock the last chance to hand over the diamond, so he finally complied and threw a jewelry pouch to Devlin, at the same moment as the SWAT raided New York Mutual Bank. Devlin then made his exit, leaving Yellow and Purple to deal with the police, as he changed into the NYPD uniform he was hiding under his clothes and handed the pouch over to Selene, which she had to bring to Luca.

Devlin is attacked by Masked Man
With his fellow robbers being taken into custody, Devlin pretended to be an officer and managed to evade the police, walking away from the bank. However, he was confronted by a Masked Man wearing Red's mask, who caught up to Devlin and attacked him. Devlin engaged in a fight with Masked Man, landing several blows on him, but Masked Man proved to be a skilled fighter who did not go down easily. As Devlin tried to take him out, Masked Man slammed his face on a broken bottle and drop kicked him in the chest, sending Devlin back. Masked Man then jumped onto Devlin's leg, breaking the bone and causing him to scream from pain, before getting knocked out. Devlin was later apprehended by the police and searched for the diamond, as he realized that they failed the mission and the diamond did not reach Luca.[2]
