Background

During World War II, HYDRA heard about Project Rebirth, a project to help the enemies create a breed of Super Soldiers.

Destruction

HYDRA sent men to Project Rebirth and they successfully destroyed the project by detonating a large bomb, killing Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter in the process.

Aftermath

Red Skull's monument stands victorious
