On December 27, 2019, Ryan Reynolds revealed that a third Deadpool film was in development at Marvel Studios.[9]

On November 20, 2020, Deadline reported that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin had been tapped to pen the film's script and that the film was expected to be rated R.[10]
