Biography

Meeting Thor

Thor decided to take some time off and went to Australia, where he and Jacobson began rooming together. While they had a mostly amicable relationship, Jacobson was often annoyed or inconvenienced by things such as Thor leaving his hammer in the middle of a room, making it impossible for Jacobson to sweep or Thor showing up at his place of work.

Jacobson also helped Thor send emails to Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, learning of secrets Thor was keeping for Rogers.[1]

Thor, Mjolnir & Darryl - Team Thor Part 2

Jacobson with Thor

When the time to pay rent came around, Thor attempted to pay with Asgardian currency, but Jacobson said that it was worthless, despite Thor insisting that each coin is worth "a bazillion human dollars." Jacobson suggested that Thor get a job, but Thor simply laughed the idea off, saying that saving the world was his job. Thor instead insisted on hiring a servant, so he hired Shane, much to Jacobson's disappointment.[2]

―Darryl Jacobson and the Grandmaster[src]

Without warning, Thor left, leaving Darryl without a roommate. Darryl eventually took up a position in Los Angeles, and put out an ad looking for a new roommate. However, his call was answered only by the Grandmaster, who Darryl initially believed to simply be an eccentric, "Hollywood-type" person; Darryl soon realized that the Grandmaster was actually an alien. As roommates, Darryl introduced the Grandmaster to many mundane earthly things, including toast, which fascinated him. The Grandmaster also forced Darryl to wear the armor of his old servant, Topaz, as well as doing all their chores.

Initially, Darryl thought he was charming, though he was also nervous about the Grandmaster's temper. Darryl was forced to help the Grandmaster as, taking a liking to Earth, he began plans of world domination, including recording a video of the Grandmaster announcing this to post to YouTube. Constant fear of being melted had Darryl begin to miss having Thor as his roommate.[3]

In 2018, Darryl survived the Snap while many of his co-workers disappeared, resulting in him working overtime in their place. He sent his former roommate a birthday video, in which he detailed the dysfunction that followed in his workplace.[4]
