"Come on. I never totally fit in with the gang, anyway."
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse.

The "Dark Elf Queen Alflyse" Universe is a universe where Alflyse was the Queen of the Dark Elves and took Fandral and Captain America fought a Tentacle Monster.

History[]

World War II[]

Birth of the Tentacle Monster[]

As World War II began to plague Europe, a group known as HYDRA worked alongside the Axis powers. HYDRA worked on cellular regeneration at their HYDRA U-Base, developing a Hydra Serum. However, the serum got into the water, which the staff at the base all drank. This resulted in the staff all getting combined into a large Tentacle Monster.[1]

Capture of the Leviathan[]

Steve Rogers and the Howling Commandos began fighting HYDRA together in World War II. On one mission, Rogers infiltrated a HYDRA submarine called the Leviathan. Rogers raised the submarine to meet with the rest of the Commandos, who boarded. Jim Morita traced the course of the Leviathan back to the HYDRA U-Base, so they decided to attack the base.[1]

Attack on the HYDRA U-Base[]

U-Base attack

The Tentacle Monster takes two Howling Commandos

As the Howling Commandos approached the base, they expected a firefight, but found the base to be empty. The group split up to search the base, leading James Montgomery Falsworth and James Morita to get attacked by the Tentacle Monster. Steve Rogers tried to rescue Falsworth and Morita, but found that cutting off a tentacle only caused two more to take its place. Meanwhile, Gabe Jones found evidence of HYDRA having experimented on cellular regeneration at the U-Base, leading the Commandos to the conclusion that the monster was the result of the experiments that attacked the HYDRA operatives there.

The Commandos created a plan for Jacques Dernier to blow up the ceiling on top of the tentacled monster, but Rogers refused to allow him to do so until he had rescued Falsworth and Morita. Rogers confronted the creature while Jones continued to read HYDRA's notes, learning about the Hydra Serum. Rogers rescues Morita and Falsworth, but recognizes the monster's writing on the wall as a request for help. Rogers pushed the monster out of the way of Dernier's explosion, saving his life. Rogers explained his revelation that the staff had been turned into the monster by the Hydra Serum getting into the water supply and decided to bring the monster back to the United States with hope of Howard Stark helping the monster.[1]

Rescue of Fandral[]

Fandral's Capture[]

Fandral was sent by Odin to spy on the Dark Elves and their queen, Alflyse. Fandral was discovered, and Alflyse began making him believe they had a romantic connection.[2]

Approaching the Citadel of Spires[]

Thor, Loki, Sif, and the remaining members of the Warriors Three were sent to Svartalfheim to retrieve Fandral. While on the way, they confronted by a troll which they defeated while Volstagg guarded and ate the provisions. Loki and Thor argued about who deserved the credit, but Sif got them to keep moving.[2]

Infiltrating the Citadel[]

Sif and Thor

The group of Asgardians split up

The group reached the Citadel of Alflyse, where Loki saw a small and subtle path into the Citadel. Loki suggested they follow it, but Thor refused to go along with a plan that he saw as without honor due to its lack battling. The two decided to each follow their own plan, with Sif following Loki and the others following Thor. Thor and the others were confronted by the Dark Elves, who had Kurse battle them. Thor fought Kurse as distraction for the Dark Elves while Hogun snuck away to look for Fandral.

Loki vs Malekith 2

Loki fights Malekith

Meanwhile, Loki and Sif were walking on the path, which was very dark. Loki used his magic to shine a light, revealing multiple bat-like creatures which pushed Sif off the ledge and into the abyss. Loki continued fighting the creatures, but eventually realized he was in an illusion and that Sif was still hanging onto the ledge. Loki helped Sif to her feet and they continued toward the castle. They were confronted by royal mage Malekith, challenging Loki's abilities with illusions. Loki sent Sif to find Fandral while he confronted Malekith.

Loki and Thor

The Asgardians escape the Dark Elves

Sif found Fandral laying in bed with Alflyse, who called for her guards. Alflyse revealed her plan to kill Fandral, leading him to agree to go with Sif. Hogun reunited with Sif and Fandral and guided them toward the exit. Meanwhile, while fighting Kurse, Thor noticed Loki lying on the ground in his fight with Malekith. Thor attacked Malekith with thunder, giving Kurse a chance to attack Thor from behind. Loki warned Thor about the attack, allowing him to hit Kurse. Kurse's reaction to the attack allowed Thor to finally defeat him. The Asgardians all reunited and escaped the tower, and Thor and Loki agreed to work together more often.[2]

Heimdall's Story[]

Heimdall later told the story of Fandral's rescue to explain that Thor and Loki did not always get along.[2]
