"I was raised to believe in grace. That we can be touched by the divine and transformed into a better person. So if you say to me that you're a new man, I say 'Fine.' But you should know, I was also raised to believe in retribution. So if you step out of line, I will be there."
Matt Murdock to Wilson Fisk[src]

Daredevil Born Again Autoplay Menu (Heaven's Half Hour)

Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page run their legal practice at Nelson, Murdock & Page in New York City. One night, they go to Josie's Bar and attend a party dedicated to Cherry's retirement from the New York City Police Department. Nelson briefly talks to Kirsten McDuffie about the case he is about to win before receiving a call from Benny Cafaro who is being stalked by someone. Murdock overhears and despite Nelson's attempts to stop him, he puts on Daredevil's Suit and goes to check on Cafaro.

However, by the time he gets there, Bullseye has already forced Nelson's location out of Cafaro and shoots him in front of Josie's, before Daredevil gets there. As the two fight in the bar, Page desperately tries to stabilize Nelson, but he dies before the paramedics arrive. Realizing that his best friend is dead, a devastated Daredevil throws Bullseye off the rooftop and takes off his cowl to grieve, as he is getting spotted by Cherry.

Karen Page and Matt Murdock

A year later, Murdock fully stops being Daredevil and since Nelson, Murdock and Page is no more, he starts a new law firm with McDuffie and Cherry, the latter knowing of Murdock's secret. Page moves away to San Francisco after Murdock distanced from her and Poindexter receives a life sentence. As Murdock tries to adjust to his new life, McDuffie sets him up on a meeting with Heather Glenn, neither of them being aware of McDuffie trying to get them together. Regardless, the two end up hitting it off and even become a fully-fledged couple.

Mr and Mrs Fisk

Wilson Fisk launches his campaign to enter the race for Mayor of New York on a platform of denouncing all vigilantes, with Sheila Rivera, Buck Cashman and Daniel Blake supporting him. Vanessa Fisk, meanwhile, runs his criminal enterprise with the Five Families, trying to quell the tensions within the group. Although Vanessa supports her husband's political endeavors, the two start to slowly distance from each other. Things are not being helped by Vanessa's past affair with Adam, which Wilson is aware about but promises that he would not harm him.

Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk (DDBA)

Murdock finds out about Fisk's campaign gaining success and meets up with him at a diner for a talk. As the two catch up, Murdock feels like is gaming the system to win the election, to which Fisk says that all he wants is to give New York a better future. Fisk then brings up Murdock ceasing being a vigilante, to which he explains that after Nelson died and he almost killed Bullseye, Murdock feels like he lost the privilege to be who he is. Murdock is willing to believe that Fisk is a changed man, but warns that he will interfere if Fisk steps out of line, while he replies that he will take appropriate measures if Murdock becomes Daredevil once again.

Fisk's campaign finds support within the New York population and he wins the election, officially becoming the Mayor of New York. Rivera advises Fisk about optics and they would be essential for how his anti-vigilante platform would turn out. Fisk works to build himself a reputation of the Mayor who fixes issues without needless bureaucracy, but learns from BB Urich that Phil Gallo is opposing him, which signs trouble for Fisk's influence on the police. Gallo intends to resign from his position as the Commissioner in protest, but Fisk blackmails him into staying and working under him.

Murdock & McDuffie Defend Hector Ayala

Catching Nicky Torres being assaulted by Connor Powell and Kel Shanahan, Hector Ayala intervenes to save Torres, resulting in Shanahan accidentally dying. Powell reveals that they were police officers and take Ayala into custody, charging him with a murder of Shanahan, so Murdock & McDuffie take on his defense. While Murdock and McDuffie prepare for the case, Cherry discovers Ayala is actually a masked vigilante, known as White Tiger. Murdock manages to convince Jerry Cooper to keep the truth about Ayala out of the court proceedings to avoid bias within the jury.

Mr. and Mrs. Fisk

As their marriage deteriorates, Wilson and Vanessa approach Glenn for couple therapy to work out their issue and preserve their marriage. Vanessa is unsure on how to feel about Wilson's return after Maya Lopez almost killed him, while Wilson is afraid that they are drifting apart from each other. Moreover, the tensions within the Five Families result in a homicide that puts Wilson's Red Hook Pier project in a bind. Vanessa scrambles to preserve the peace by putting pressure onto Luca, while Wilson thinks that chaos would be more beneficial in the long run, although Vanessa views that as Wilson trying to punish her for Adam.

The day before the proceedings, Murdock tails Powell and finds out that he is looking for Torres to eliminate the witness in the Ayala case. Murdock manages to get to Torres first and stashes him away, before getting into a violent altercation with Powell, but manages to force him into keeping quiet about that. During the trial, Powell testifies that Ayala attacked him and Shanahan unprovoked, but Murdock accuses him of lying and prepares to bring Torres in to testify. Despite Powell's attempts to intervene, Cherry manages to bring Torres but he commits perjury to protect Powell, being pressured by the police.

White Tiger Mask

As Murdock & McDuffie lose a vital part of their defense strategy, Murdock calls Ayala to the stand and suddenly outs him as White Tiger. Cooper and Benjamin Hochberg confront him, as he was the one who asked to keep it out of the proceedings, but the trial continues on. With that, Murdock and McDuffie submit reports and testimonies from the people that were saved by White Tiger, which sways the jury and Ayala is proclaimed not guilty. In an interview with Urich, Fisk calls Ayala's verdict a miscarriage of justice and an indication why his anti-vigilante platform is necessary to help the city.

In the wake of his acquittal, Ayala prepares to continue being White Tiger, but gets shot and killed by an unidentified gunman in a Punisher Vest. Angela Del Toro, Ayala's niece, is devastated at the loss of her uncle and blames the NYPD for killing him due to his victory in court. Murdock comforts Del Toro, telling her to have faith that Ayala's killer would be found soon.

Wilson Fisk with Daniel Blake

During a party, Blake gets drunk and accidentally reveals to Urich that Fisk is working on a recycling project that circumvents the contracts with the garbage worker union. Urich publishes the story on The BB Report, which throws the entirety of Fisk's office into disarray. Fisk is furious and despite Rivera's warnings to stay low, Blake steps forward and takes responsibility for his blunder. Blake makes it clear that no matter what punishment he is going to receive, he will remain Fisk's steadfast supporter no matter what. Moved by Blake's sincere loyalty, Fisk decides to not punish him and keep him in his office, while warning him that further mistakes would not be tolerated.

Murdock takes on a defense of Leroy Bradford, a homeless man who was accused of stealing some caramel corn, with all the evidence pointing at him. Bradford insists on getting probation, which Murdock finds difficult due to Bradford being a repeat offender. In the precinct, Murdock gets to confront Powell and accuses him of killing Ayala, but Powell claims to not be involved, which Murdock verifies as truth. Murdock manages to reduce Bradford's sentence, but it is not enough for him, which causes Murdock to get angry and lash out. Bradford, however, opens up on how the system has been treating him, driving him into starvation and homelessness, so Murdock relents and empathizes with him.

Fisks drinking at night

The Fisk couple continue their therapy sessions with Glenn and the topic of Vanessa's affair gets brought up. Vanessa argues that she was left all alone and did not know if Wilson would return to her, while he feels betrayed and refuses to participate in the conversation. Glenn is worried that Vanessa might be unsafe with Wilson, which he catches onto fairly soon. Wilson talks to Vanessa about his father and the lessons he learned from him, while saying that Vanessa has changed into something even more extraordinary.

Frank Castle (DDBA)

Murdock ends up coming to the place where Ayala was killed and investigates, discovered a bullet casing with a signature skull insignia on it. He pays a visit to Frank Castle to talk about it, suggesting that Ayala was killed by one of the police officers who idolize Punisher's brutality. However, the conversation gets heated soon enough, as Castle presses on Murdock's anger and guilt that he is trying to suppress, linking it to Nelson's death. Despite his attempts to deny it, Murdock admits that it destroys him, but he willingly let the system handle Poindexter, which Castle views as not being enough. Airing his grievances with the system to Glenn, Murdock decides to pick up his old Billy Club and starts training again.

Fisk hears about Muse's victim count

Fisk's position as the Mayor gets complicated from multiple sides, including his Red Hook Port Revitalization Project, Luca's insolence and the emergence of a serial killer. An artist, known as Muse, has been kidnapping and killing people, using their blood in his murals he is painting across the city. Fisk mobilizes Gallo and the NYPD to handle Muse, but Fisk's decision to keep the information on Muse a secret results in even more victims. Meanwhile, Fisk works to secure funding for his Red Hook Pier project, but it becomes clear that against the New York elite, Fisk is in a much weaker position than he is used to.

Daredevil Born Again Autoplay Menu (Excessive Force)

Murdock gets approached by Del Toro, who wants to continue Ayala's investigation into kidnappings in the city, but gets very frustrated when Murdock refuses to help. Del Toro ends up looking into it on her own, and gets kidnapped by Muse, who intends to kill her and use her for the next artwork. Still thinking about Del Toro's words, Murdock makes a decision to become Daredevil once again and being told that Del Toro disappeared, he intervenes. Daredevil manages to find Del Toro in Muse's lair and fights him, saving Del Toro and letting Muse retreat.

As the NYPD does not progress in the Muse investigation, Fisk proposes the foundation of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, consisting of the most problematic NYPD officers under his command. Despite the pushback from Gallo, Fisk secures the support from various officers like Powell and Cole North, recruiting them into the AVTF. That night, he goes down to the dungeon where he has been secretly keeping Adam prisoner and brutally beats him down, releasing his pent-up rage. Later, Fisk gets updated on Del Toro surviving Muse's attack and the return of Daredevil, which does not please Fisk, but Cashman warns him to stay smart about it.

Daredevil in Muse's Workshop

Despite Cherry trying to talk him out of taking more risks, Murdock is adamant on using Del Toro's lead to bring Muse down, now that he has been found and is liable to make a mistake. As the NYPD investigates Muse's lair, Daredevil finds numerous sketches depicting Glenn's face on them, realizing that she must be Muse's target. Angie Kim, who has been investigating Muse, makes a breakthrough and finds out that Muse's true identity is Bastian Cooper. Fisk appreciates Kim's work but dismisses her and lets the AVTF to work on taking Cooper down.

Death of Muse

Cooper comes to a therapy session with Glenn, during which he admits to his mental struggles and reveals to Glenn that he is Muse. He captures Glenn and prepares to kill her for his ultimate artwork, ranting about his desire to be seen and his obsession with Glenn and her work. Before Muse gets to kill Glenn, Daredevil confronts him and the two fight again, while the AVTF surrounds the buildings. Daredevil manages to defeat Muse and Glenn shoots him dead, before passing away from the blood loss, while Daredevil stabilizes her before she is hospitalized.

Connor Powell holds up Muse's mask

As the NYPD investigates the scene of Muse's death, Fisk decides to alter the narrative and give all credit for stopping muse to the AVTF. To achieve that, Fisk orders Blake to pressure Urich into lying in her report, despite Daredevil's involvement being rather obvious. Fisk's plan succeeds and the mass media report that Muse has been taken down by the AVTF, which Fisk uses to strengthen his influence and the stance of his anti-vigilante platform.

Meanwhile, Luca tries to meet with Vanessa behind Wilson's back and convince her that Wilson's current conduct is only hurting the Five Families and he needs to be removed. He tries to convince Vanessa to cooperate with him and take control in full, despite Vanessa being the one who forced the restitution on him. Vanessa entertains Luca's proposal and even gives him a location where Wilson would be alone for Luca to kill. However, it turns out to be a trap and Luca gets killed by Cashman, as Vanessa never intended to betray her husband.

Later, Wilson brings Vanessa over to his dungeon, revealing to her that he has been keeping Adam prisoner and abusing him for some time. While Adam pleads and begs for them to let him out, Wilson addresses Vanessa and acknowledges his shortcoming as a husband, him keeping a secret from her, and says that he cannot go on without her. Wilson lets Vanessa decide Adam's fate and after brief hesitation, Vanessa decides that Adam cannot be released. She personally murders him and embraces Wilson, as the two rekindle their love for each other.

Heather tells Matt to watch his tone

In response to her experience with Muse, Glenn reconsiders her stance on the vigilantes and decides that they are perpetuating violence, despite Murdock arguing that Daredevil saved her life. Cashman shows up there with Glenn's invitation to the Black & White Ball, organized by Fisk, and Murdock finds out that she has been working as their therapist. Murdock claims that Glenn should not trust Fisk, as he only wants to use Glenn to support his narrative, which she does not seem to be too opposed. As the two argue, Glenn suggests Murdock to accompany her to the ball if he is so concerned, but Murdock does have an answer for her.

Meeting with McDuffie, Murdock finds out that the Mayor's office moved Poindexter to a general population, and that Poindexter is asking for a meeting with him. As they are working on Thomas Madison's case, who has been accused of fraud, Murdock finds out that he is lying and openly accuses him. McDuffie questions Murdock's outburst and whether she should have told him about Poindexter or not, asking what is happening with him. Murdock admits to McDuffie that he is frustrated that their work to uphold the law feels useless when all injustices keep piling on, while Fisk keeps amassing more and more support.

Daniel Blake & Sheila Rivera

Fisk and his associates celebrate the success of their office, especially the AVTF, although Rivera views their excessive methods as liability. Fisk is unbothered and comments on the AVTF's good publicity, giving credits to Blake and the way he handled Urich's coverage of the events. He decides to appoint Blake as a Deputy Mayor for Communications, and although Rivera tries to interject, Fisk is certain that people like him are what the city needs.

Cherry baffled

Murdock meets with Josie at her closed bar, where he also gets found by Cherry, who was sent by McDuffie to look after Murdock. As they talk, Murdock questions if Poindexter's transfer was really a coincidence and thinks that they are missing something, although Cherry reminds him that Poindexter and Fisk not being connected at the time was proven. However, Murdock then finds out from Josie that Nelson has been celebrating an early victory in the Cafaro case the night he was killed. Murdock realizes that Nelson has been involved in something serious and somebody wanted to silence him before the trial.

Matt Murdock and Benjamin Poindexter

Murdock comes to Rikers Island and meets with Poindexter, demanding him to tell if he has been hired by Fisk to kill Nelson. Poindexter acts elusive and avoids the answer, only saying that now that he is in a general population, he is in constant danger. He says that he will only divulge any information if Murdock represents him and gets him out of jail, which infuriates Murdock. He smashes Poindexter's head against the wall and leaves, but Poindexter uses it to his advantage and escapes from prison.

Daniel Blake and BB Urich

During the Black & White Ball at Gracie Mansion, Wilson pressures the attending elites into supporting his redevelopment project, notably threatening Jack Duquesne to out him as a vigilante. Glenn, still upset at Murdock bailing on her, talks to Vanessa and finds out that she and Wilson already resolved their issue and no longer need therapy. A journalist, disguised as a waiter tries to snoop around, so Wilson sends Powell and the AVTF after him, as they assault and harm the journalist. Gallo attempts to stop them and threatens Powell, but he reveals that since the AVTF answers to the Mayor directly, Gallo has no authority over them.

Gallo speaks to BB Urich

Murdock eventually arrives at the ball, where Glenn voices her frustrations with him being distant, but Murdock is more invested into checking on Fisk. Urich talks to Blake about Fisk's behind-the-doors extortion and calls him out for corruption, but Blake does not side with her. Urich then approaches Gallo regarding the AVTF's violent and excessive conduct, while Gallo accuses her of falsely reporting Muse's situation in favor of Fisk. Gallo then tells her that Fisk was a prime suspect in the murder of Ben Urich, but Urich reveals that she knew and she is secretly working against Fisk, hoping that Gallo would support her.

Matt, Vanessa, Wilson & Heather

Murdock overhears Vanessa being informed by Cashman about Poindexter's escape and her urge to talk to Wilson about something important. He realizes that Vanessa was the one who ordered Nelson's death, being in charge of Wilson's criminal empire at the time. He steals Vanessa for a dance and confronts her about that, but Vanessa seems unbothered and casually asks Murdock about the secret he keeps from Glenn. Wilson then has a dance with Glenn and alludes to her that Murdock might not be the man she thinks he is.

Dex at the gala

Poindexter passes through the security and infiltrates the mansion, initially intending to kill Vanessa, but instead targets Wilson. Murdock catches that and suddenly shields Wilson, taking a bullet for him and bleeding out in Glenn's arms, while the Fisks get evacuated. Poindexter goes into hiding, while Wilson talks to Vanessa and reveals that he has already known about her secretly working with Poindexter to kill Nelson. He comments on Vanessa's business with Red Hook Pier, adding that now that he has all the power he needs, their income will increase tenfold.

Following his attempt to protect Fisk, Murdock recovers from a gunshot at Metro-General Hospital, where Glenn and McDuffie visit him. Although Glenn tries to get Murdock to rest and focus on his recovery, he seems unconcerned and only cares about the case that Nelson was working on and led to Vanessa having him killed.

Buck Cashman and Wilson Fisk

Fisk orders the NYPD to seal off the whole city and crack down on all vigilantes, not just Poindexter, without any concern for protocols or due process. Gallo opposes him, calling Fisk's orders unlawful, while Rivera points out that sealing off the city is a sensitive issue and necessitates a significant threat to the people. Fisk then talks to Cashman about Murdock who is still recovering and decides that it would be better for Murdock to die, ordering Cashman to take him out.

Sheila looks at Gallo

Later, Fisk also orders Rivera to vet out every employee at his office who might not be on his side, so he could take care of them. Gallo approaches Rivera and talks to her about Fisk manipulating the events in the city to weaken the police and strengthen the AVTF under his command, making them his own militia. Gallo claims that they cannot let Fisk keep consolidating power unchecked and intends to go up the ladder to stop Fisk. He hopes that Rivera would support his cause, and while she says that she cannot act of line, Rivera would take Gallo's side.

Daredevil and Punisher yelling at each other

Fisk engineers a massive city-wide blackout, plunging New York into chaos and looting, during which the AVTF kills several civilians and claims them to be vigilantes. Cashman arrives at the hospital to finish Murdock off, but Murdock slips away and makes it to his home, where Castle is waiting for him. As the AVTF team, led by North, closes in on their location, Daredevil and Punisher ambush them and take them all down. Punisher sees a skull on North's bullet casings and tells Daredevil that they found the one who killed Ayala. As North shows no remorse, Punisher insists on killing him, but Daredevil does not want to do that.

Karen Page (Straight to Hell)

Their argument gets interrupted by a grenade, so Daredevil and Punisher have to escape from the explosion, before Page shows up and picks them up. Page reveals to Murdock that she asked Castle to keep him safe after Poindexter's escape and joins forces with him to find the truth about Nelson's death, while Castle decides to stay behind. Murdock and Page go to the warehouse where their old case files were kept and discover that Nelson found out about Red Hook Pier being a free port, exempt from any tolls and tariffs. Murdock realizes that Nelson was about to use it in court to dismiss Cafaro's charges, which would reveal a loophole Vanessa was using to earn her money, which was why she had to silence Nelson. He also concludes that Wilson is intending to use Red Hook Pier to build his own city-state and legitimize his crimes.

Frank Castle restrained

Using North's radio, Punisher finds the AVTF's base at Red Hook Pier and goes there, massacring numerous AVTF officers before he gets taken down and captured. Powell talks to Punisher about how everyone in the task force admires him, offering him to join their ranks. Punisher feels insulted that Powell dared to imply that they understand him and harshly rejects Powell, which earns him a beating.

Despite her regrets, Rivera turns on Gallo and provides Fisk with a recording of his intentions to go up against Fisk and his office. In response, Fisk has the AVTF to deliver Gallo to Red Hook Pier, presenting him as the one who failed the entire NYPD as a part of the broken system. Fisk then brutally murders Gallo in front of them, while proclaiming that he and the AVTF will keep New York safe no matter what. Meanwhile, Blake meets up with the New York City Council and blackmails them into supporting Fisk's Safer Streets Initiative.

Mayor Kingpin

Daredevil considers going after Fisk, but Page talks him out of it, as it would only result in Daredevil dying or killing someone. On the next day, Fisk appoints Glenn as his Commissioner of Mental Health and addresses the city, claiming that vigilantes were responsible for the blackout and chaos of the last night, which is why he officially outlaws vigilantism altogether. He then announces the Safer Streets Initiative, which gives the AVTF the highest authority and effectively puts New York City under martial law. Fisk also uses his dungeon as a makeshift prison for his detractors, including Duquesne and Castle, and celebrates his victory there with his wife.

Daredevil (Straight to Hell)

Regrouping at Josie's Bar, Daredevil decides that Fisk has become too powerful, meaning he needs an army to bring him down. Daredevil and Page gather their allies, including Cherry, Kim and numerous dissenting NYPD officers, who refused to support Fisk's rule. Daredevil addresses them and rallies them up to fight together and reclaim their city from Fisk. At that time, Castle manages to trick an AVTF officer guarding him and escapes from Fisk's dungeon.
