- "Captain Marvel, the annihilator. You took everything from me. And now I'm returning the favor."
- ―Dar-Benn to Captain Marvel[src]
Supremor Dar-Benn was a revolutionary Kree warrior and former Accuser of the Kree Empire. Formerly a member of Starforce, she blamed Captain Marvel for inciting a long civil war on Hala, which led to the planet's desolation. In 2026, after discovering a Quantum Band on MB-418, Dar-Benn tore apart jump points in space to extract natural resources from various planets to restore her homeworld, targeting Tarnax IV, Aladna, and Earth. In the process, Dar-Benn ruined diplomatic peace talks between the Kree and the Skrulls. Before Dar-Benn could siphon energy from the Earth's Sun to reignite Pama, she faced intervention from Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel. In a bid to harness the combined power of two Quantum Bands, Dar-Benn spitefully created a multiversal wormhole, but the cosmic energy from the two bands proved too destructive and disintegrated her.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Defending Hala[]
Dar-Benn was a member of the famous Kree Starforce and lived on Hala, which she believed to be beautiful. On one fateful day, Dar-Benn was in the city when she saw Captain Marvel arrive and blast through the primary building. Dar-Benn arrived to defend the Kree and saw Danvers plowing through other guards. Danvers then saw Dar-Benn and blasted the ceiling, causing rubble to fall on her. Danvers claimed she was setting them free and soon destroyed the Supreme Intelligence.
This action caused heretics to fill the void of Hala, leading to a Kree Civil War that destroyed the planet and its resources. This rid the planet of its air, water and even Pama. Dar-Benn grew up with a vengeance towards Captain Marvel, referring to her as "The Annihilator". Eventually, Dar-Benn earned enough trust to become the Supremor. With her leadership, she returned Hala to peace and glory in all but their resources.[1]
Restoring Hala[]
Search for the Quantum Bands[]
As Hala's atmosphere became even more unstable, Dar-Benn rounded up troops and they flew by Pama before using the Universal Neural Teleportation Network to get to MB-418 where she believed the Quantum Bands were. These bands would be able to open up the jump points on various planets to steal their resources to save Hala. Once on MB-418, Dar-Benn had her Accusers mine through the surface to get the box containing the bands.
Dar-Benn approached the statue and tapped it once with her Universal Weapon, causing it to crumple and reveal its internal resources. In preparation of obtaining the bands, Dar-Benn rolled up her sleeves and got down, sifting through the rubble, finding a band. She admired the band and placed it on herself, feeling the rush of energy inside her. satisfied, Dar-Benn looked for the second one, only to be annoyed that there was only one there. Ty-Rone assured her they would keep looking.[1]
Peace Talks[]
- "I hope we can rebuild together. So much so that I’m willing to put our ancient animosities behind us. And give you a chance to protect your people. To stop running. The Skrull will take their rightful place in the Kree Empire. And I will aid in their relocation."
- ―Dar-Benn to Dro'ge[src]
With only one Quantum Band, Dar-Benn could still open up the Universal Neural Teleportation Network. However, only one band made it unstable. Therefore, she went to Tarnax IV to talk to Emperor Dro'ge of the Skrulls. She tried to negotiate a new peace treaty. Once Dro'ge read it, he got disappointed, saying that was not what they agreed upon. He complained about the Skrulls being scattered across the galaxy. Dar-Benn told him that she out of all people knew how hard that would be.
Dar-Benn explained that once the Supreme Intelligence was destroyed, heretics rose up to fill the void. This caused a Kree Civil War that ultimately led to many problems on Hala. Since Hala was dying, Dar-Benn explained that she hoped they could rebuild together. Dar-Benn then announced that the Skrulls would take their place in the Kree Empire and Dar-Benn would aid in their relocation off Tarnax. Dar-Benn soon revealed she was going to strip Tarnax of its atmosphere, giving the Skrulls the chance to get off.[1]
Destruction of Tarnax IV[]
Dar-Benn returned to the Accuser Warship only to see two outcasts, Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel. Ty-Rone explained that they were associates of Captain Marvel, which angered Dar-Benn. With "The Annihilator" upon them, Dar-Benn wanted to use the band. However, Ty-Rone advised against it, saying that without the other one, it was still unstable. Since it still worked even with the trouble, Dar-Benn decided to use it.
She then walked over to the band and put it on. Ty-Rone asked what to do with Rambeau and Khan, so Dar-Benn charged up her Universal Weapon and shot it at the two. However, The Annihilator appeared and absorbed the blasts. Captain Marvel then went at Dar-Benn, who defended herself. Danvers then shot a photon blast, which Dar-Benn was able to absorb with the band. She then used this new energy and charged at the enemies. She briefly scuffled with Danvers, but decided to just jump off the warship and make her way to the ground.
Now on the surface of Tarnax IV, Dar-Benn stood on top of a cliff and spoke to the Skrulls, saying that the Kree were hopeful to make peace. However, they called Captain Marvel and betrayed the Kree. As punishment, Dar-Benn slammed her hammer against the band, causing a jump point to open up, siphoning the air to Hala. Dar-Benn then left the Skrulls to fend for themselves.[1]
Celebrating Victory[]
On Hala, Dar-Benn stood in front of the Kree and watched as the air went through the Universal Neural Teleportation Network and into the planet. She then took off her breathing mask and tested the air, finding out it was safe. She then told the others to breathe. With the first step accomplished, Dar-Benn talked about how Hala used to be before Captain Marvel destroyed it.
Dar-Benn then promised to make Hala even better than she already has, which earned cheers and chants among the population. Ty-Rone soon pulled Dar-Benn aside and told her that they would need more power then that single band would supply in order to reignite Pama. In addition, that amount of energy would sure to kill her. Dar-Benn told him she was okay with losing her life if Hala was saved. Ty-Rone wanted more time to find a solution, but Dar-Benn told him Hala was out of time.[1]
Attack on Aladna[]
- "I’ve come here to pardon you for your crimes against the Kree Empire. Kneel."
- ―Dar-Benn to Yan[src]
Finding a new place to attack, Dar-Benn decided on Aladna, which was nearly 100% filled with water. In addition, it was home to Captain Marvel's husband, Prince Yan, therefore it was yet another place close to Danvers that she could destroy. They soon arrived in Aladna and made their way to the city where Dar-Benn stood in front of her Accusers. Prince Yan asked why she had come and Dar-Benn responded that she was pardoning Aladna for its crimes against the Kree Empire.
She then ordered Yan to kneel for it, which he refused. She then went to blast Yan with her Universal Weapon only to see this blast get absorbed by Monica Rambeau and redirected back at her, launching her back. An annoyed Dar-Benn got up as Rambeau approached and the two got caught in a fight. Dar-Benn absorbed a blast before Captain Marvel arrived to fight too. Ty-Rone passed Dar-Benn her hammer which she used to launch both Rambeau and Danvers away.
Dar-Benn then menacingly walked through the battle field unharmed and made it to her ship. Once on the top of it, she yelled at her servants to go. The ship them took off. Facing the city in Aladna, Dar-Benn went to hit the band together with her Universal Weapon to cause the water to transfer to Hala. However, she was tackled by Rambeau. Dar-Benn swung and missed, allowing Rambeau to grab the band. Dar-Benn saw then and swung her hammer and pushed Rambeau back, dragging them both.
She then hit the hammer hard with her arm, causing Rambeau to get down on one knee. Rambeau pushed back, sending shock waves from the bangle which launched them both away. Dar-Benn caught herself by planting the hammer into the ship. She then charged at Rambeau only to be met by Danvers who told her not to do this. Dar-Benn simply said she was too late. The two held each other in a stalemate until Rambeau came in and kicked Dar-Benn back.
Dar-Benn then faced the two women and Captain Marvel shot at her. Dar-Benn absorbed this with the band only to see Ms. Marvel. Dar-Benn's band started glowing and looked up to see that Khan had the second band. In shock, Dar-Benn demanded to know where Khan got the band. Khan told her her great-grandmother had it. Dar-Benn told her to give it, but Khan ran off where Danvers returned and tackled Dar-Benn.
Dar-Benn dodged a punch and then tackled Danvers, not only holding her in a chokehold, but absorbing Danvers' energy, causing her pain. Dar-Benn then used this power and punched Danvers, making her fly hundreds of yards back. Now unopposed, Dar-Benn finally hit the hammer against the band, opening up a jump point and siphoning water to Hala. With her second mission complete, Dar-Benn left Aladna.[1]
Taking the Sun[]
- "Hala's sun died because of you. Why shouldn't you repay us?"
- ―Dar-Benn to Captain Marvel[src]
Dar-Benn's final mission was to reignite Pama, which she decided could be done by using Earth's Sun, yet another one of Captain Marvel's planets. Expecting the Marvels to show up, Dar-Benn approached the Sun in her Accuser Warship and used her Universal Weapon and band to open a jump point, which started a slow process of siphoning the Sun. However, Dar-Benn knew she still needed the second band.
Dar-Benn patiently waited until Captain Marvel arrived. Captain Marvel tried to warn her that this act would be the end of the Kree and even the end of everything. Dar-Benn refused to listen and demanded to have the second band. Danvers simply said she was forgetting something. On cue, Monica Rambeau arrived behind her and punched Dar-Benn, making her drop her hammer. Dar-Benn angrily faced the Marvels, saying it could have been so much easier.
Finding herself outmatched, Dar-Benn used the absorption to defend herself of a three-way attack. She held her own until Ms. Marvel took out her legs, allowing Rambeau to kick Dar-Benn away. Dar-Benn then dodged a photon blast and then blocked Danvers, who attacked with the hammer. She then absorbed a blast from Rambeau and redirected it at the Annihilator, causing the latter to drop the hammer. Dar-Benn then choked Rambeau but was stopped by Khan.
Getting overwhelmed, she was now attacked by Danvers while Rambeau jumped in with the hammer. Dar-Benn impressively caught the hammer and retook control only for Rambeau to grab it back and hit Dar-Benn, launching her away. Dar-Benn got up for another round and still held her own, knocking back both Danvers and Rambeau. She then blocked Ms. Marvel's attack and used her Noor against her, punching Khan with it. She then pinned Khan to a wall but was held back by Danvers, who caught her punch.
Danvers then held her still as Rambeau delivered a very powerful blow that knocked Dar-Benn into a wall. Dar-Benn then fell to the ground where the wall collapsed on top of her, impaling Dar-Benn with a metal shard. She screamed in pain and told Danvers she was living up to her nickname. Danvers said she did not want this, but Dar-Benn told her that death follows her. Ms. Marvel pleaded for the bangle, but Dar-Benn refused, telling Danvers that Pama died because of her and she should repay them.
Rambeau agreed with this statement, saying that Danvers powers would be enough to reignite Pama and save Hala. Danvers turned to Dar-Benn and remarked "for Hala", which Dar-Benn repeated. Danvers then lifted the wall off of Dar-Benn only for Dar-Benn to turn on them. She soon had Ms. Marvel in her possession and under her hammer. Dar-Benn threatened the Marvels in killing Khan if they got near. Dar-Benn then grabbed the second bangle off Khan and put it on.
She immediately felt an overwhelming surge of energy as Danvers claimed she would not survive. Rambeau also tried to reason, but Dar-Benn did not listen as she prepared to hit the two bands together. Before she could do so, Danvers flew at her and tackled Dar-Benn, sending them into space while fighting each other. Dar-Benn was able to kick Danvers away and connect the bangles. Much to her pain though, the bands caused Dar-Benn to explode, just like Ty-Rone warned.[1]
Legacy[]
Pama Reignited[]
- "She went to fulfill a promise."
- ―Ms. Marvel[src]
Dar-Benn's last act with the Quantum Bands caused a giant surge of energy that ripped a hole through space-time. In order to fix this rift, Monica Rambeau was forced to stay behind in the new world to seal the rift and prevent it from destroying everything. Once this was done, Captain Marvel stuck to her promise and flew to Hala where she went binary and flew through Pama, reigniting it. Danvers then looked at her work while Hala was restored.[1]
Personality[]
As the Supremor of Hala, Dar-Benn cared about their race more than anything else and fought to restore their homeworld which was heavily devastated after Captain Marvel destroyed the Supreme Intelligence and led to a Kree civil war. To this end, she sought to recover the two Quantum Bands to manipulate jump points to transfer resources on other planets to replenish the deteriorating environment on Hala and let her people survive. Nearing the success of her quest after she obtained one of the Quantum Bands, she became increasingly extremist and irrational in her actions, willing to commit genocide and destroy other planets for her own race, and also neglecting her advisor Ty-Rone’s warnings of the dangers of manipulating jump points. Even though she has been warned on the detrimental health effects of using the Bands, she was still willing to die for her people and eventually overloaded herself with the power of both Bands.
Due to the suffering that Captain Marvel caused the Kree to live in, Dar-Benn deeply hated Carol Danvers and pledged to destroy every world she cares as retribution, including Earth and Aladna. When offered the chance to work with a deeply regretful Danvers and restore the sun of Hala, while it could still help, in a better way, the Kree population of Hala to survive, Dar-Benn firmly and blindly refused this offer as she saw this as a humiliation. Showing how much her rage and hatred for Danvers made her lost sight of what her mission truly was about (to save Hala and the Kree from extinction, not to just kill Danvers and destroy everything she care for), regardless of how much sorry Danvers was after what she had done to her and her people.
Despite that, Dar-Benn is also very cunning. During the final confrontation with the Marvels, after the heroines rescued her from the pile of debris, she immediately betrayed them and instead steals the other Band. She was also quick to use the arrival of Captain Marvel as an excuse to associate the Skrulls with Danvers.
Dar-Benn appeared to empathize with the Skrulls hiding in their colony at Tarnax IV at first, noting that she understands what it felt like to be without a home because both the Kree and the Skrull homelands have either been devastated and destroyed, forcing the population of the two races to live hardship and brutal survival conditions. Thus, she proposes peace between the two races. However, once Captain Marvel arrived at Tarnax IV, Dar-Benn was convinced that the Skrulls had called her to come and help and saw this as an act of betrayal. Immediately, she ordered the extraction of the atmosphere of Tarnax IV without hesitation which led to the deaths of countless Skrulls. This shows that although Dar-Benn accepts peace, she cannot tolerate any alliances with enemies of the Kree.
