"I was sorry to hear about Dana. I always liked her."
Luke Cage to Diamondback[src]

Dana Stryker was a secretary to James Lucas who began a prolonged affair with her employer, eventually giving birth an illegitimate son named Willis Stryker. Lucas rejected Willis as his son, focusing on raising his legitimate son, Carl Lucas. When the young Stryker was sent to prison, Dana was left with nothing and eventually died of cancer.

Biography[]

James Lucas' Affair[]

"He lied to me too, Etta. You think we're the only ones?"
"You're through. And you're done."
"Are you kidding me? Come at me again, bitch, and I won't hold my tongue about Willie anymore."
―Dana Stryker and Etta Lucas[src]

Dana Stryker worked at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia as James Lucas' personal secretary, with whom she was rather close. The two eventually had an affair, as Lucas' wife Etta was unable to conceive, and Stryker eventually gave birth to a boy she named Willis, but Lucas was hesitant on accepting him as his son. Stryker and Lucas continued their relationship, even after Etta gave birth to Carl Lucas, who once saw Stryker walking out of Lucas' office after they had sex. Lucas kept his relation with the Strykers a secret, providing her with money so Willis could get an education,[1] and also gifted her a Bible that she later gave to Willis.[2]

Stryker argues with Etta Lucas

While Stryker had good relationship with Carl, Etta never treated her with any respect and often insulted Stryker in her face. Stryker tried to explain that Lucas lied to both of them and there could be other women in his life, but Etta did not want to listen. When Stryker tried to push back and threatened to tell the truth about Willis, Etta warned her that if she does, they will cut the support for her and her son, who would be pulled out of Lieber Academy.[1] When both Willis and Carl were arrested for stealing a car, Willis was the only one who got sent to prison, while Stryker succumbed to cancer and died all alone with anyone by her side.[2]
