Czechoslovakia was a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from October 1918 to January 1993. After its peaceful dissolution, the country became Czech Republic and Slovakia.

At the beginning of World War II, Czechoslovakia was occupied by Nazi Germany. In 1942, the infamous Nazi general Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated by the Czechoslovak resistance. In retaliation, the Schutzstaffel troops burned the town of Lidice.[1]

HYDRA Facilities

In November 1943, Steve Rogers witnessed a map showing the location of HYDRA facilities in Europe while liberating the prisoners in the Austrian HYDRA Weapons Facility. For that he was tasked to destroy all those facilities with a team while MI6 focused on locating the central HYDRA Headquarters.

Rogers enlisted the help of Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones, Jim Morita, James Montgomery Falsworth, and Jacques Dernier, and also convinced his childhood friend Bucky Barnes to help him.

Known as the Howling Commandos, Captain America and his unit traveled to Czechoslovakia, where HYDRA built a factory after Czechoslovakia was occupied by the German forces.

In Czechoslovakia, Rogers set the facility to explode, storming it mounted on his motorcycle.[2]

By April 1945, the Nazi forces were suffering defeats on almost all battlefields of Europe. Around the time of Adolf Hitler's death, a delegation of German and Czechoslovak industrialists left the city of Prague to meet Allied representatives and hand over the occupied Czechoslovak territories.[3]
