The Cybertek Prosthetic Leg is a cybernetic implant designed and built by Cybertek as part of Project Deathlok.
History[]
Deathlok's Upgrade[]
- "Skye tracked down an invoice from one of his shell companies. He made a big purchase recently."
"Ten million dollars big." - ―Phil Coulson and Skye[src]
Under orders from Ian Quinn, new technology was ordered from Cybertek, which had been transported via a train by Carlo Mancini to Quinn's Villa. Although they were intercepted by S.H.I.E.L.D. during the transport, Mancini made it to Quinn, as they captured Skye just in time for her to witness them pulling the wounded Mike Peterson out of his Hyperbaric Chamber. Mancini had then attached the new Prothetic Leg to Peterson, replacing the one he had lost in an explosion, as Peterson winced in pain while it attached onto him.
While Quinn had noted to Peterson that the leg was the best money could buy, he sent Mancini upstairs to await his payment for delivering the leg. However, Mancini and his team were instead met by Peterson, who had explained that the Clairvoyant was unhappy with their services, despite Mancini noted that the leg was working perfectly. In response, Peterson grabbed Sofia's throat, noting that they would be punished for allowing S.H.I.E.L.D. to follow them. Peterson then proceeded to use his upgrades, including the leg, to massacre everyone who was inside the room.[1]
Attack on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Safe House[]
- "We think the Clairvoyant's super soldier bodyguard came after us for a reason. We're getting close."
"To what? His identity?" - ―John Garrett and Victoria Hand[src]
In order to protect the Clairvoyant's true identity, Deathlok had then been ordered to attack a S.H.I.E.L.D. Safe House, where John Garrett, the true Clairvoyant, was there with Antoine Triplett. As Deathlok charged into the room, Garrett and Triplett immediately began shooting at him, with Triplett firing two shots with the Taser Projectile Launcher, one of which hit Deathlok's Prosthetic Leg, electrocuting and damaging it, which had then forced Deathlok to rip off the projectiles and then make his escape by leaping through the ceiling.
Ambush at Tranquility Bridge[]
- "He went off the grid after he got out of the hospital. Which means he's at large with a lot of our secrets."
"He was in the hospital?"
"After Deathlok broke his spine." - ―Phil Coulson and Daisy Johnson[src]
As part of a plan to protect the Clairvoyant's true identity, Deathlok was sent to ambush the S.H.I.E.L.D. teams who had been sent to investigate possible leads. Arriving at Tranquility Bridge, Deathlok had then immediately attacked Felix Blake, as he threw Blake down onto the ground, before crushing his spine with his Prothetic Leg, critically injuring him. Deathlok was then attacked by Melinda May, only for him to shoot a missile from his Forearm Rocket Launcher and then escaped.[2]
Battle at the Florida Race Track[]
- "May, he's coming your way."
"Got him!" - ―Skye and Melinda May[src]
As part of a plan to lead S.H.I.E.L.D. to Thomas Nash, who was intended to be used as a fake Clairvoyant, and would also be killed, Deathlok had led S.H.I.E.L.D. to an abandoned race track in Pensacola, Florida, where Nash was located. As the agents arrived, Deathlok shot at Grant Ward's teams with his Forearm Rocket Launcher, before making his escape, with his Prothetic Leg increasing his speed.[2]
Battle at Cybertek[]
- "You can't do this, Mike. I order you to stand down! You must obey me! You need me to translate the Words of Creation. You don't want to do this, Mike. Tell him, Phil!"
"Mr. Peterson's free to do whatever he wants." - ―John Garrett and Phil Coulson[src]
While he worked as John Garrett's bodyguard, Deathlok joined Garrett at the Cybertek Manufacturing Facility, where they had been ambushed by S.H.I.E.L.D., as Garrett told Deathlok to aim his Forearm Rocket Launcher at Phil Coulson and Nick Fury. However, once Deathlok received a message onto his Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant confirming his son was safe, Deathlok shot Garrett in the chest, before bringing down his Prosthetic Leg upon Garrett's skull, seemingly killing him.[3]
John Garrett's Upgrades[]
- "There's a reason why they say 'cut off the head'. Now I'll be unstop–"
- ―John Garrett[src]
Despite receiving near fatal injuries, John Garrett had dragged himself to the machinery, determined to be the first fully complete Deathlok Soldier. Garrett screamed in agony, as all his cybernetic implants were attached, including two Forearm Rocket Launchers and Cybernetic Legs that were equipped over Garrett's damaged legs instead of replacing a missing one. However, before he could leave, Phil Coulson shot Garrett with the Peruvian 0-8-4, destroying him and the tech.[3]
Doctor List's Experiments[]
- "HYDRA didn't just disconnect your leg. It's like..."
"They dismantled it. It'll take serious man hours to reattach it. I wish I had the equipment here to fix it here." - ―Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons[src]
Having been betrayed by Sunil Bakshi and captured, Deathlok had woken up in HYDRA's Research Facility in the Arctic. There, Deathlok underwent the experiments of Doctor List, who disabled Deathlok's Forearm Rocket Launcher, before removing his Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant as well as his Prothetic Leg. Although Deathlok was rescued by S.H.I.E.L.D., he was informed by Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons that reattaching the leg would take a long time.[4] However, his leg had been eventually reattached successfully.[5]
