Curtis Stein was a recreation of the father of Victor Stein inside the Dark Dimension.

After Morgan le Fay tricked Nico Minoru into sending herself, the Runaways, Tina Minoru, Stacey Yorkes, and Victor Stein to the Dark Dimension, Minoru, Yorkes, Stein, and Alex Wilder left the Dark Dimension's recreation of the Hostel together, despite warnings from Quinton the Great. Each got put into their personal torture center, with Stein getting sent to a memory of him in his car, where Curtis Stein abused him.
When the other Runaways went out to look for Wilder, Minoru, Yorkes, and Stein, Chase Stein found his father getting beaten, and chased Curtis away. However, while Chase tried to get Victor away, Curtis returned and attacked the two with a baseball bat. Chase took the bat and started beating Curtis, nearly killing him. However, Victor stopped Chase, hoping to end the Stein family's cycle of abuse. Chase and Victor ran away, leaving Curtis behind.[1]
When Chase later returned to the Dark Dimension with the rest of the Runaways, Tandy Bowen, and Tyrone Johnson, Chase saw the corner at which the fight happened and remembered the feeling of beating Curtis, prompting concern for him from Gert Yorkes.[2]
