Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated as "Ravager T'Challa".

"No matter where you go or how far you hide, there is not a corner in this galaxy beyond my grasp."
―Collector to T'Challa[src]

Taneleer Tivan, also known as the Collector, is the head of the Tivan Group. Having filled the power vacuum created when Thanos had abandoned his plan of wiping half of the universe, Tivan became the most ruthless kingpin in the intergalactic underworld. Later, he was captured by Strange Supreme before being sent back to his universe.

Biography[]

Galactic Kingpin[]

Taking Power from Thanos[]

Taneleer Tivan, also known as the Collector, took advantage of the power vacuum left in the intergalactic underworld after Thanos changed his ways, abandoning his quest to wipe out half the universe following his conversations with T'Challa, and becoming a member of the Ravagers instead. Thanos' choice of giving up his status as the most feared crime lord in the process, allowed Tivan to take the spot left behind for himself, Tivan grew in power and influence, becoming known as the most feared and ruthless crime lord in the galaxy.

Tivan amassed a much wider collection, at one point hacking the arm of a Kronan, obtaining a Dark Matter Dagger from Malekith, the crown of Hela, and several other items. Tivan also obtained Howard the Duck and the dog Cosmo, both kept alive in his collection alongside thousands of other living specimens. When Nebula amassed debt to him, Tivan wanted the famous Star-Lord in return, wanting to add the hero to his vast collection. In 2008, Tivan had recruited the help of the fearsome Black Order, who became his personal security.[1]

Deal with the Ravagers[]

What If..

Collector meeting with the Ravagers

Tivan awaited the arrival of Nebula, who would be bringing [T'Challa/Ravager T'Challa|Star-Lord]] under the guise of organising a deal for the Embers of Genesis, desired by the Ravagers. Introduced to them by his slave Carina, the Collector greeted them. Yondu Udonta insisted they get down to business, leading Tivan to miss the time when the Ravagers were fun. When the other Ravagers caused a distraction outside the Collector's Museum, drawing away several members of the Black Order, the Collector remained unfazed, simply enjoying the lights and emergency alarms that blared throughout the museum.

Tivan and Nebula then captured Star-Lord, their deception revealed, and Tivan had the Ravagers captured and locked in a prison. He temporarily allowed Star-Lord in as well, but soon had him bought to the depths of his museum, sealed in a display box. Tivan expressed disappointment towards Star-Lord, expecting more than just an ordinary human. He asked if T'Challa had any further powers, to which the man offered to show him in a fight, though Tivan denied it. Annoyed that the outlaw was not the masterpiece he expected, Tivan ordered him to be dissected, leaving Ebony Maw and Carina to the task.[1]

Fight Against T'Challa[]

Once T'Challa had broken out of his box, and got past Ebony Maw with the help of Carina, who had turned on the Collector, wanting to be free of his control, Tivan confronted T'Challa amidst his vast collection, using the Kronan arm to strike a heavy blow against the outlaw. Tivan then bought down a mobile armoury, and with it, more weapons that he claimed he wanted to play with. After dismissively hurling less desirable items at his foe, Tivan pulled out the crown of Hela, Asgardian Goddess of Death, and adorned with it, flung Necroswords at Star-Lord, remarking that the goddess had taste.

The Collector soon gained the upper hand, pinning Star-Lord to the wall with one of the Necroswords, though he was interrupted by the arrival of Yondu Udonta. Tivan was not worried however, seeing the arrival of a second adversary as a party, and much more entertaining. Udonta used his Yaka Arrow against Tivan, but the Collector soon grabbed it, snapping it in two. T'Challa was able to free himself, and both he and Udonta attacked, fighting the Collector directly.

The Collector easily held his own against the pair, and began to gain the upper hand once more. Udonta pressed forwards and Tivan chose to focus on him, dealing harsh punches and taking Udonta down. However, it was a ruse, and a part of Star-Lord's plan. Together, the Ravagers threw him off balance and sent him flying into one of his only display boxes, using a Control Gauntlet to shut him inside, and unable to get out. Tivan threatened the pair, but the Ravagers were unfazed, leaving the control gauntlet in the hands of Carina, Tivan's former slave.

Tivan attempted to feign kindness, requesting that he have the gauntlet. Carina however, used it to open all of the display boxes inside the Collector's Museum, freeing the many living creatures that Tivan had trapped over the years. Carina then opened Tivan's own case. As his former prisoners closed in around him, the Collector remarked that it was karma, before being left to the mercy of those he had trapped.[1]

Captured by Doctor Strange[]

Collector in the scuffle

"Okay, starting a prison riot of universe killers? Not my best idea."
Captain Carter[src]

Suddenly, Collector was approached by Strange Supreme who marked Tivan as a "universe killer". Strange ended up imprisoning him in an orb where Tivan would remain until eventually being fed to the Forge in order to recreate Strange's universe. Collector was eventually freed by Captain Carter and emerged to see a riot breaking out.

Collector looked more and saw Cull Obsidian charging him. Tivan blocked the attack and dodged some more. Collector also had a scuffle against Korg which led into another room. Suddenly, Tivan was sucked into the Forge. However, Kahhori and Captain Carter were able to stop the Forge and Kahhori sent Collector home.[2]

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

This section requires expansion
  • Superhuman Strength: Unlike his main timeline counterpart, Tivan possesses superhuman strength, capable of overpowering T'Challa and effortlessly breaking the Yaka Arrow with a single hand. This is likely a result of training and mechanically enhancing himself after he took over Thanos' position of the Black Order, where he eventually became the most fearsome crime lord in the galaxy and gained his masculine appearance.
  • Superhuman Durability: Tivan is much more resistant against physical harm than a regular human being. He could endure several punches from Star-Lord without much issue.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Tivan can fight battles for an extended period of time without tiring out.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Tivan possesses incredible superhuman reflexes, as he was able to grab the Yaka Arrow before it hit him.
  • Longevity: Tivan is capable of living for billions of years, being nearly as old as the Universe itself.
