Biography[]

Destruction of the Roxxon Gulf Platform[]

"Nine years old, and you dove in to save some random girl."
Tandy Bowen to Tyrone Johnson[src]

At nine years old, Tyrone Johnson stole a car radio for his brother, Billy, and the two were caught by officer James Connors. Connors was about to shoot Billy when the Roxxon Gulf Platform exploded, and Johnson saw Tandy Bowen and crash into the water in her father's car. Johnson dived in to save her, and the two ended up on the beach next to each other.

The next morning, Johnson woke up next to Bowen as Billy and Nathan Bowen rushed toward the two, and Billy happily greeted Johnson, who looked at Bowen. happily. The two grew up to be close friends. Bowen became a ballerina for the New York Ballet, and Johnson flew to New York for her first and second shows. He often complained to Bowen about having to live up to people's expectations of him.[1]

Becoming a Police Officer[]

Under James Connors' mentorship, Johnson went to the police academy and became a member of the New Orleans Police Department.[1] At the party to celebrate his graduation, Tandy Bowen told a story about helping those in need and gave a toast to Johnson, to celebrate his accomplishment.[2] Connors then arrived at the party late, and Johnson expressed happiness to see him. Later, Johnson and his girlfriend, Evita Fusilier, talked with aunt, Chantelle, who gave Johnson a root to keep with him for good luck.

Adina and Adina Johnson began singing, and Johnson and Evita listened. However, the music was cut short as Bowen suddenly shouted for her father not to hurt her mother, even though he was simply removing confetti from her hair. Bowen went outside for air, and Johnson later met with her. Bowen commented on Johnson suddenly wearing a sweatshirt, and Johnson explained that Evita Fusilier spilled her drink on his uniform. Johnson thanked Bowen for coming, and Bowen told him not to since he had done so much for her. Johnson asked Bowen what was wrong, sensing that she was upset, so Johnson asked Bowen if she wanted to get ice for her since the party was running low, and Bowen agreed.

While walking, Bowen admired Johnson's police badge and asked if he was ready to grow up. Johnson expressed confidence in himself, and Bowen explained that she had been reflecting on the day they met, explaining to Johnson that him saving her life led to her parents working on getting their relationship more healthy. Bowen said that she felt inadequate compared to him, but Johnson made fun of her by pointing out that as a prima ballerina, she had accomplished things.

The two arrived at the store, and Johnson explained that she had also saved him, since he believed that rescuing Bowen was the reason that Connors did not arrest him and his brother the night they met. He elaborated that every day since that night, Bowen had been helping make Johnson's life better. The two went to the register, where a man flirted with Bowen, telling her that she did not have to "settle" for Johnson. Realizing that the man was being racist toward Johnson, Bowen defended her friend. The cashier made another racist remark, and while Johnson wanted to leave, Bowen insisted on standing up for her friend. The cashier noticed Johnson's sidearm and pulled his own weapon on him, assuming that Johnson was attempting to rob the store. Johnson calmly explained that he was a police officer, asking if he could have Bowen hand him his badge to prove it. Bowen dropped the bags of ice, causing the cashier to panic and pull the trigger. While neither was hurt, Bowen and Johnson reached for each other. Once they touched hands, the Darkforce and Lightforce inside them reacted, causing a burst of energy which knocked back both of them and the man who had flirted with Bowen. Bowen was suddenly holding a dagger made of light, and Johnson was surrounded by Darkforce energy. Johnson asked Bowen what her dagger was.[1]
