"She's the one who took down the Punisher. She's not going through all these paces so that she can not put the final nail in his coffin."
―Christopher Roth[src]

Christopher Roth is a public defense attorney who was initially assigned to represent Frank Castle. However, Nelson and Murdock deemed Roth to be too inexperienced and unwilling to truly defend Castle, and therefore decided to take on the case themselves.

Roth and Foggy Nelson discussing the case

In the wake of Frank Castle's arrest, Roth was assigned to be his public defender in the courtroom by the state. When Cynthia Batzer officially appointed Roth, he was approached by Samantha Reyes, who informed him that Castle will be found guilty regardless and she is working to get a death penalty for him. Roth came to the Nelson and Murdock Law Office and presented Karen Page with the report, based on her official statement to the NYPD about the Metro-General Hospital shooting. Foggy Nelson asked if Roth was new to New York City, to which he replied that he was born and rasied there and the Castle case was his second one, as he won his first. Page then pointed at numerous mistakes in Roth's report, which indicated that Page was targeted by Castle, while omitting Grotto as merely one of his victims.

Roth claiming Frank Castle will be executed

As Matt Murdock joined them, Roth informed Nelson and Page that after he gets a signature on the statement, the case will be closed. As Murdock questioned why, Roth told him that since Castle was awake and the guilty verdict was only a matter of time. Nelson expressed his relief in knowing that Castle will be in jail, but Roth added that the District Attorney's office is seeking a death penalty for Castle. Murdock noted that New York does not have a death penalty, but Roth told him that since some of the Dogs of Hell were killed near Delaware, Reyes can link the murders to Castle to legally extradite him.

Roth justifies all Samantha Reyes' decisions

Nelson questioned if Roth had any affiliation with Reyes, which he confirmed, stating that she approached right after he was assigned to represent Castle. Roth claimed that after all the effort Reyes put to take Castle down, she will not stop until she puts the final nail in his coffin. However, Page told Roth that she cannot sign the statement yet, and although Roth did not expect that, Murdock assured him that they will be in touch. Roth realized that Nelson and Murdock will not cooperate with Reyes' plans to prosecute Castle, so he left their office. Soon after, Castle pleaded not guilty and officially chose Nelson and Murdock to represent him in court against Reyes, instead of Roth.[1]
